Mathias in Austria (part 2: Castle Grafenegg)

Definitely a dream of mine. Alrighty, so the plan for today is to go grab a scooter. Go grab a scooter with Lime. Then I'm going to take my scooter for 2.4 kilometers all the way to where I'm going to rent my car, Fox Auto Rent. And then once I have my car, I'm going to that castle which is called Kreuzensteinschloss. Okay, and it's 25 minutes by car. Then I'm going to go to a second castle called Grafenegg Castle. This one is 46 minutes away. Okay, I think I'm going to go to that one first because it closes at 3 p.m. All right, so I found my scooter, Lime, with their LGBTQ propaganda. All right, I made it to the place where I rented my car. Let's go. All right, everybody, so that's my car. I thought I would have a black Volkswagen Polo, but that's what they have, a Suzuki. So it's plated Hungary for H. And yeah, I actually costed more money to pay for a fee because I'm going to cross the border to the Czech Republic to go to Castle Lednice. So I had to pay 60 euros for that. Then I paid 30 euros for the highway vignette. And then I paid like 6 euros for roadside assistance. Yep, so it's an okay car, you know. It's much better than taking the freaking bus. Yeah, it's a brand new car. It only has 5,000 kilometers. Yep, Suzuki. I've never driven those cars before. The castle is right behind. All right, everybody, all right, made it to the Grafenegg Schloss. So I parked my car. It's, it's, there's a lot more than the castle. It's just, it's like a hotel. Look, it's like a, they do events. I don't know what they do exactly. Like art exposition. I just came through the castle. Look here, they have a Schloss Taverna. I see the castle, I see the castle. I came a long way for that. All right, here it is, looking beautiful. That's authentic European. Very nice, worth it. Definitely worth it. I am Matthias, the Canadian polyglot. And today I am near Vienna, Austria, at the Grafenegg Castle. So about 50 minutes away from Vienna. And yeah, it's totally worth it. And I'm totally, totally excited and very happy. So this is what the castle looks like. Very, very beautiful. So, fairy-tale-like, medieval. Wow, wow, very, very beautiful architecture. Let us find out how much the ticket costs. Yes, very, very nice. Look, I feel, I'm not disappointed. Not disappointed. This tower here. Wow, for God's sake, it costs, I think, 48 euros. So the lady will tell us about the castle. So how are you? Good, we're up here. Okay. Okay, okay, okay. Also, okay, okay. So here are the steps to the second floor. Understood. Okay. Naturally. Okay. Okay, okay. Obstacle. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Look at that. Super cool. Very nice. I love it. Super beautiful. Look at that chair. The woodwork in it. Wow. I mean, it really has a gothic architecture. Super beautiful. Super worth it. And look at that room behind me. Yeah, so this castle, I don't think it's very well known, but it's amazing. It's much better than the Castle Loma castle in Toronto. Now, this thing is the real deal, huh? Wow. Super happy I came. And it's free. Yeah, definitely. You have to come to Grafenegg. Grafenegg Schloss. Okay, so here we have like a library. I mean, look at that door. I've never seen anything like it. Wow. Super nice. So right now, I'm on the second floor. Beautiful. I mean, it's a real baller mansion. I'd like to just live here, smoke cigars, and in a bathroom, in a silk bathroom and walk around. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. So let's go that way now. So I came this way. So when you come that way, while you take the stair that the lady explained, you can go two ways. You either that way, and you can go that way where it leads to the library. Okay, so let's go that way now. I think I'm going like on the opposite. Okay. It's very beautiful. Oh, my God. Oh, look at the woodwork on the ceilings. Oh, wow. Super beautiful. So I think from what I understand, we are in Niederösterreich, so Lower Austria. It's a part of the country which is very flat. Has some hills, but that's about it. No mountains in here. If you want to go to the mountains in Austria, you have to go to Salzburg or, what's the name of this other city, Innsbruck. Wow, look at that. They have like little angels and knights. Super worth it. You have to come to Grafenegg. Super beautiful. It's like on a big estate like she explained on her paper. There's a big piece of land that surrounds it. Let me show you. It's super hot outside, but it doesn't feel hot inside. Okay, so this is a big estate. What is that? And they have gargoyles and they have gargoyles. Super beautiful. I'm super happy. I mean, as for myself, if I see castles and mountains and I speak languages, I'm super happy. I mean, that's what I love about Europe. The scenery, the languages, and just the history, the castles of kings and princes and lords of like Europe. It's a culture we don't have in North America, in America entirely. Yep, super happy I came. I'm gonna try to hurry up and be out like in 30 minutes because I want to go to the other castle, which is Schloss Kreuzenstein, which looks just as nice. Maybe it's more medieval. And this one, it's really from a period I like, which is maybe the 1800s or it's not an old castle, like medieval, like inside it's all made of stone and like ugly and just like no life, like lifeless. This one is beautiful inside, like all the woodwork. It's really like palatial and luxurious and cozy, just like how a king would live. Now look at that. Super beautiful. Okay, so it's a circular trail. Okay, what? Oh, I'm going on the wrong side. I don't know who that guy is, but he looks like a Rasputin. Okay, so here it says copy of the image of Graf Bräuner. Apparently, so okay, so Grafenegger, Graf, it means a count, like Count Dracula. So I guess that was the guy. He does look like Count Dracula, as a matter of fact. I mean, look at that mirror, all the woodwork. Baller, completely baller. Okay, nice room. Nice room. Oh, look at that door, so beautiful. Yeah, Vienna is a super beautiful city and this castle was about 50 minutes away. So worth it, definitely worth it. Okay. This is how the castle looked. There's not this part though, the circular dome. This is interesting, you know, really you see Austrian, Austrian like interiors with those, I forgot, antlers, I think they're called. Just really cool. Okay, now what are they, so this is called Jewel of the Tudor Gothic from Verfall bedroht. It says threaten, but I don't know what Verfall is. Lebendiger, that means lively, romance. Reife andenken, Wunschtraum. First help for castle Grafenegg. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. This one I'm saying like the medieval castle, that's how they looked inside their carnival. Okay, look, so they did work inside of it. I just love those coats of arms. I mean, there's so many millions of possibilities. They're so beautiful. With those eagles, super nice. So that is like, you know, in Schloss Neuschwanstein, the guy Ludwig II, who was really in love with all that was Celtic, like Scandinavian, how do you, Nordic, Nordic legends and stuff from, what was his name, Richard Wagner. Look how beautiful, super beautiful paintings. It's really in a realistic style with all the details and the shadings. I mean, if you look here, you really have the view, oh wow, of the whole, remember the court going. Very happy I came, very happy. Okay, so let's go. I'm literally going against the, look at the ceiling. All right, so that's the part I didn't go to, the Kapelle. Okay. Ho, ho, ho, ho, how beautiful. Look at all the detail on the woodwork. Insane. It's really Gothic, those Gothic designs. Let's see, I guess all of those statues are saints from the Bible. We got how many? That's a lady. It's all, and those are seats here, so I guess it was like the members of the family. They would come on Sunday to listen to the Catholic Mass, because Austria and Bavaria are very Catholic. It's more Northern Germany that is, more Lutheran. Yep, wow, Schloss Grafenegg, 50 minutes away from Wien. It's really worth it. Oh, and here is Lobenit, the holy water. I don't know how you call it in English. Yeah, so I've been here for 30 minutes. I think that's enough, you know, if I want to go to the other castle. I'm super hungry, but really it's a beautiful castle. It's the most beautiful I've ever seen so far. All the only ones I saw were, I saw Casa Loma in Toronto. So I mean, can't compete with Austrian castles, right? Those towers with four turrets on each corner are super beautiful. And you see those parts? They're called battlement crenellations. And you see those parts? They're called stored gables, I think. Yeah, so beautiful. Okay, that's interesting. How many counties did the owners become, were the owners? Okay, okay. What's the name of this architecture here? Gothic? That's a great question. Everything is represented here. What is represented here? What does it mean? Yes, it means that the builder, the builder, did exactly what he liked, and didn't stick to anything. Oh, that's excellent. Okay, so thank you very much, Mr. Wolfgang. You are very friendly. Look at that. So beautiful. Really gothic. Every day I'm here, I'm like, I'm never gonna see something more beautiful than what I did today. And Europe is amazing. I found this place by mistake, actually, on Google Maps. And here I am. Here I am. Grafenegg. I know what Graf means. It means account, but egg. If you want to say eggs in German, it's Eier. So look at the gargoyles. Here we have a dog. Here we have a rabbit. It's a guy with a long nose. This guy has a hat. Wow, very beautiful. 10 out of 10. Okay, so the visit is now over for me. I stayed here for an hour. An hour is just enough and it's free. So I'm now gonna... I'm starving. I'm gonna go to... Where could I go? And yeah, no, I had a great time. Worth it. Very happy I came. Definitely a dream of mine to make a lot of money in finance. And talking hundreds of millions of dollars. Put money aside. Accumulate wealth. And build something crazy like this as a home for myself. Yeah, it's really enchanting. Fairy tale-like. A little bit scary, I would say. Like the gothic architecture, it would be like from a horror movie. I loves it. Okay, so I just ordered a Wiener Schnitzel. But there was a cheaper one from Schwein, so from pork. But this one is from Kalb. I don't know exactly what Kalb is. But it was more expensive, so it must be much better. It's good. It's a little bit hot to eat that. But this is what it is. Very nice. Wow, guys, look at that for 8 euros. Approximately 12 Canadian. It's like ice cream and there are fruits under. Raspberries, Himbeere, Erdbeere, Kataloupe. Wow, I don't know what that... Like a fruit cocktail, maybe.
