Making Lady Mary 's 1920s day dress from Downton Abbey
A little more than a year has passed since the first stitch was made on this chiffon and now it is ready! Lady Mary's black and "colored" (at the same time) day dress from "Downton Abbey" is officially finished! I have to say, yes, it was a hard experience, both as for cosplay and as for historical reenacting, but I would never give it up! So what do we see here?
.
⏳ a year of hand - embroidery on chiffon (which is for chiffon, I think, it is generally the best option, since it is very difficult not to stretch and cut it with a machine)
🎨 a drawn sketch of the embroidery in full size (I drew it just by a miracle, because there were too few high-quality stills from the series)
👚 I also tried out an interesting snap clasp in the shoulder in accordance with the original museum dresses of not roaring, but twenties
🧵 in general, 7 different colors of embroidery floss were spent, it was about ~ 200 meters
🎷time period - mid 1920s
.
As a result, having tested the dress (the height of winter, January, cold outside), I noticed a very interesting thing: the dress is 2/3 chiffon, but so warm! Now I'm thinking, but it's not because of the embroidery, is it?
Those who closely followed and follows my inst instagram.com/victoria.shelg saw some more photo in the process. But even now some of them can be found there in the highlights.
