We need to fix WA’s apprenticeship program approval process | Rep. Suzanne Schmidt

“It should be a simple process.”

Rep. Suzanne Schmidt, ranking Republican on the House Labor and Workplace Standards Committee, discusses the problems in our state's apprenticeship program approval process. Her solution: House Bill 1777. The legislation would reform the apprenticeship program approval process and help get people into our state workforce quickly. The bill would modify the process by which the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council (WSATC) reviews and approves apprenticeship programs, including expediting state approval of apprenticeship programs already approved by the federal government and operating in other states. It would also modify the process for competitor objections.
