【Classical music and nature 古典音樂小站】Schubert: Piano Sonata no. 7 in E-flat major, D. 568 I. Allegro moderato. This beautiful piece was played by Paul Pitman. It has common licence (Public Domain Mark 1.0 Universal) and is provided through musopen.org.

The listener may be unaware that Schubert struggled for a long time to complete his cheerful E flat major Sonata. The initial sketches date back to 1817 and were still in three movements and in D flat major; Schubert probably only completed the sonata shortly before his death. It was published posthumously in 1829.

The E-flat Sonata is one of Schubert’s lesser-known piano sonatas. However, it is an enchantingly lyrical piece. This is achieved through subtle nuances, the absence of any significant drama (all the movements conclude quietly and subdued) and a flowing, rocking triple metre in the outer movements. A single 'heavenly length' ... The preface by Schubert expert Andrea Lindmayr-Brandl and the detailed comments section provide extensive information on the work's genesis, sources, and variant readings.

The video was captured by Simone Schlegel in Switzerland and edited by Wenjing Ma.
