Hey everyone, welcome or welcome back to my channel and if you're new to my channel I'm
Patti and I do a lot of budget-friendly DIYs. Today I'm bringing you some Christmas in July
DIYs. These are some of my very favorite past DIYs that I've made. They're super easy to make.
You can make them ahead of time if you do craft fairs. There are great craft fair sellers. So
if you want to know how to make them, stick around. I'll show you how. Thank you so much
for being here. I really appreciate it. Right Maxwell? Okay for this one I'm taking the quarter
inch by 12 inch dowel stick and I'm going to cut it at seven and a half inches. Next I'm taking
about a three inch wood round. I'm marking my center and I'm going to drill a quarter inch hole
through the center of it. And I'm making three trees. I think these look really good when they're
clustered together in a set of three. And just drill right through the center all the way through
your round disc. Next I've given you the pattern in the description below for the little Christmas
trees and you're going to cut out six. Now I'm not going to go real fast through this because I do
want you to see how to put this together. But we're going to start on one side gluing down all
the side on this and then coming to the middle on the bottom. And then just layer that up so that it
is perfectly even with the other one. Make sure that you do get it even. And then we're going to
fold it back and we're going to attach our next one. So fold it back and then you're going to
attach the next one in here. And you're just going to glue down that side as well. And in the bottom
you're going to come almost to the center but not quite. You're going to leave probably about a half
an inch at the bottom. And just keep layering it up until you get them completely glued together.
But try real hard to make sure you get them even. And then open that one up and you're going to do
the same thing. You're going to glue the next one right on top of that one. And glue your next panel
just like you did the other ones. And now I've given you this in the description below the pattern.
You can download it, cut it out. I also included an SVG. If you do have a cutting machine you can
cut it out with that. But these were real easy to cut out by hand as well because they're not that
detailed. But do try to get them even. And you can glue these in sections if you would rather. It starts
getting a little bit tighter here. You can just glue down you know maybe one little stem and then
put the rest of them in if you feel more comfortable with that. I ended up doing that on the other two
that I did. So I just put like I did like the one top edge, glued the other one in and then it was
pretty easy just to kind of make sure I got them even that way. While that dries we're just going
to put a little bit glue inside our hole and we're just going to attach our little stick.
And I'm just using hot glue on this. To finish out our tree we're going to connect the two sides
together so it makes it a complete circle. And if you start down at the bottom gluing it in each one
at a time you'll make sure that you do get it straight. And that's what I ended up doing on the
other two trees that I did make. Okay before we close the top end we're going to turn it over and
we're going to start bringing all of our ends together. Now you just want to make sure that
you are gluing your pieces till they come to the center of each tree but almost to the center
like that. Leave a little bit of gap for the stick to go through and you're going to do that for all
the trees that you have on this. You're just going to start pulling it in and when you pull it in
like that you can see where the gaps are. We just want a hole big enough to stick our stick through
and then we're going to flip it over and we're going to glue the top in. You're just going to
pull all that in just put a little bit glue around there and just draw all that in.
You just want to make sure that it is sealed on top because we don't want our stick going through
the top part of this. Okay then we're just going to stick it right over the top part of our little
stem there and then turn it over and finish gluing it in. Just kind of squeezing it till it does meet
in the middle. Okay for this next one we're going to make a Christmas tree garland. I've given you
the pattern in the description below. You're going to cut it out of white felt or whatever color felt
you want to. I'm using white and these are all the pieces you cut them out by hand or you can cut
them out with an sbg file. Then I'm using some faux leather for the for the trunk of the tree
and I'm just cutting it with a regular paper cutter. It was the easiest way for me to do that.
Okay to assemble them I'm just taking two of the white trees. I'm taking the little hanger part. I'm
going to glue it together to hang at the top. You need to leave the opening so you can run some
string through it and then I'm just going to start gluing this around. I'm only going to do the first
top part and the middle part and then I'm going to stuff them. It's easier if you do it this way
than try to do the whole thing and just make sure that you do let it dry good before you start
stuffing otherwise it'll just come back open. I'm just using regular polyfill to fill this up and
I'm not going to over stuff it but I do just want to have it beefed up a little bit just so it's
just not so flat and then after I get that section full you want to make sure you go into the little
corner areas and then we're going to go ahead and glue the bottom down so that we can fill it up as
well. Just come around the edges of that and you're going to stop right after you get around the curve
and do the same thing on the opposite side and you do want to let that dry between times so that
it doesn't pop open when you're stuffing it. Okay while that dries I'm going to do the trunk of the
tree and I'm just going to glue this in half and the half that is um doesn't have the curve at the
bottom the finished out on the bottom that that half is going to go up into the tree. Just make
sure you get it glued closed and then we're going to put it right down into the center and glue that
in and then continue to fill until you get it full again and then close up the bottom the same
way and then just start on one side glue it till you get into the middle and then you can go ahead
and stuff the other side a little bit fuller once you get that closed in. Just kind of push it into
the corners of the little tree. Continue to close up the bottom and then I'm going to add a little
bit more stuffing in the side here just to fluff it up a little bit more before I close up the
bottom completely and you can get quite a bit of stuffing in these. To decorate them up I'm just
going to take some glue put three little dots at a diagonal and I'm going to add some crystals to
this. Now you can use these for even good gifts or just hanging them as an ornament on the tree.
I'm making a garland out of this one and I'm going to use eight of them in my garland
and I'm just going in a diagonal and I'm going to do the exact same design on all of them
and that little tool is a real good tool I'll give you the link for that in the description below.
Next I'm taking some little green felt balls that I got on Etsy I'll give you the link for those
and then I'm taking some embroidery floss and I'm going to string my trees. I've got eight of my
trees to go. I'm going to string one of the balls first and then I'm going to string a tree and then
a ball a tree a ball just alternating until I get to the end and the felt balls are what's going to
hold the trees in place because they will not slide down that um floss you have to move them
around and I'll show you when I actually hang it up. Just keep going until you have them completely
put together. If you push those felt balls right up against those trees it'll keep that tree from
moving. For this one I'm starting with an eight and a half by eleven piece of copy paper and I'm
just folding it over till it matches up the other side. We're going to end up with an eight and a
half inch square after we're finished. So fold up your sides and then cut that off. You want to go
ahead and take time to really get your little folds perfect and then just cut that piece off
and then I'm going to kind of go a little bit slow on this one because I really want you to see what
I'm doing but you could fold that one over right there and then take it and fold it over to the
other side as well just make a triangle to the other side. Then we're going to flip it over and
we're going to fold it in half and then we're going to turn it and we're going to fold it in half the
other way. Okay then take your little corners your little diagonals and pull them together
and we're going to make a square with this and then really flatten out your seams. Okay then
you'll have a little diamond shape and you'll have your openings at the bottom. Then you're
going to fold these over each side until it meets into the middle and then do the same thing with
the opposite side and then you're going to flip it over and do exactly the same thing. Once you get
the hang of this these go really fast. Just meet right into the center where that seam is and then
flatten that out real good and do the same thing with the opposite side. Okay then we're going to
open up one side just open it up and then pull it forward open that up and fold it flat. You're
just opening that part up and then fold it over and then you'll have the other side to do exactly
the same thing. Just open it up pull it up and then just open it up and flatten it out and then
you're going to flip it over and do exactly the same thing. So open up your flap pull it up forward
and then open it up and flatten it out and then fold that side over and do the same thing with
the opposite side. Pull it up open it up and flatten it out. Okay then you're just going to
cut straight across the bottom to make the triangle shape for the Christmas tree. If you turn it to the
side you should have four sections on both sides. Okay next you're going to take your scissors and
you're going to cut four even slits all the way across this. Now you're going to stop before you
get through the middle you don't want to cut through it completely and then turn it over and
do exactly the same thing matching those up. Just try to get about four even sections there.
Turn your tree upside down with the bottom facing upward and you're going to take each one of the
little folds and fold it down at a diagonal. Now the first two will go flat against the bottom the
second one will just kind of go at an angle you won't get all the way because you don't have
enough paper there but just kind of get them folded over and then you're going to fold those
back and do the opposite side. Just kind of move them out of the way pull them forward and then
you're going to do the same thing with each one of these and you're going to go around the tree
doing the same thing for all of your little slits that you have. Just fold all those over
keep going until you have every single one of each of those eight sides folded and they don't
have to be perfect because this looks good even if you don't get it exactly perfect. Just keep
folding it over until you get to the next row and do the same thing and just continue till you get
them all done and then when you get to the opposite side you're going to do that to the opposite side
you're going to do it mirroring that side. Okay and then once you get the pattern going they go
pretty fast. Now these look good clustered together these would be pretty on a mantle in a cluster
they would look pretty on a place setting if you're having a dinner party in each place. These
could be used so many different ways they just end up being so pretty and they're so simple to make.
To get your corners all folded up go ahead and start straightening it out just kind of
even out each one of the little sections. Okay then to decorate them up I'm just going to add a
few little crystals and I'm putting one on every other little branch and I'm going to do the same
thing on the next row and I'm going to alternate between rows. This really did dress them up a lot.
For this next one I've given you the pattern for this mitten in the description below and
you're going to cut out five of these. I cut them out of just some white felt and I bought my white
felt at Hobby Lobby. I just bought it by the yard and I've given you the pattern in both PDF and SVG
so if you do have a cutting machine you can just cut it out with that but you are going to cut out
five of these. After you get them all cut out we're going to take two of them and we are going to glue
around the edges. Now you're going to leave the bottom part open because we are going to fill it
with some polyfill. Just try to get as close to the edge as you can so that we can get plenty
of polyfill in there and just kind of line it up as you're going around just to make sure that you
are getting them even and you could make this out of fleece as well. Any kind of fabric that doesn't
fray or require you to make a hem on the end of it you can use for this but this is just some
thicker felt that I got at Hobby Lobby. It's thicker than just the little skinny sheets.
It's more called the premium if you're buying it by the sheet. Next I'm going to take some polyfill
and I'm going to fill this up. Now I'm not going to stuff it really fat. I just want to get enough
padding in it until it's about maybe an inch thick and then be sure and stick some down into
the thumb area as well and I'm just using a ruler to kind of push it on down into the tip.
I get it completely filled in as thick as I wanted it. I'm just going to go ahead and glue up the
bottom part. Then the other three mittens we're going to glue those together just like we did the
first one but we are going to glue three of these together and you're leaving the bottom open on all
three of them and again try to get as close to the edge as you can and then glue the third one
right on top of that. Just make sure that you are getting those lined up good and again you're
leaving the bottom open on this one as well. So you'll have three layers with two pockets.
Then the top layer, the first pocket that's on top, we're going to fill this up with polyfill.
So the very top when you're filling with polyfill. Then I grabbed some pliers because it did help me
kind of push it down in there a little bit because it is kind of thick and this one you want to fill
pretty full. Okay then once you get it completely full we're going to go ahead and glue up the
bottom part. Just the top layer bottom. Okay next I got some greenery from Amazon. I'll give you
a link for this and I'm just putting four of them into the very back pocket of the mitten.
Just kind of fill it up. Next I'm taking a piece of trim that measures two inches by ten inches.
I got this at Joann's Fabrics and it just came on a roll kind of like ribbon and I'm just wrapping
it around starting in the very front and I'll go all the way around to the back and I'm overhanging
the top part of the mitten probably about maybe a quarter of an inch and then when you glue the
other side just glue that right over to the top part of the other side and it'll blend all together.
Mine was a little bit long so I'm gonna say maybe about nine inches on that one
and then right at the very top where it meets the top part of the mitten go ahead and take a
little bit of time and glue that in good too just so that it is flush with the greenery and then on
the trim part right there just glue it right across there and then glue across the seam as well and
then that'll be one solid piece and then I'm gonna put the trim on the second one exactly the same way
and we're gonna pair these together here in a little bit. Next I'm just gonna add a little
bling to it. I'm just gonna go down at a diagonal across the front part starting at the top and I'm
using a little jewel setting tool that I got on Amazon. I'll give you a link for it but it really
does work great and then I'm gonna start below it again kind of offset a little bit on a diagonal
and I'm gonna go down that too. Now I'm gonna kind of go fast so you can see what I'm doing but not
just have to sit here and watch me glue little dots on here and if you take your glue gun and
just kind of do a little dot move it off there real quick you'll just get the little dot you
won't have a lot of strings just kind of quickly just dot dot dot and then I'm gonna decorate the
second one up exactly the same way because I did want these to match. Next to join the two I'm just
taking a half inch brown ribbon and had I thought about doing this earlier I would have just glued
that inside before I glued my trim shut but I'm going to sew this onto the back and then I'm going
to blend my hair onto it so you don't even hardly see it at all. So I'm just kind of doing some
light stitches all the way around with some brown thread and then this way it'll I think it'll hold
a little bit better too if you do sew it on but you can glue it as well because these are not heavy
and then I'm going to spot stitch these together once I get this one on here. Just make sure that
your ribbon is looped right you want to just make sure that it comes over with one and goes into the
other and I am going to stitch this one in here as well I just think it will hold up a little bit
better and I'm just going to sew that right up to the top just kind of stitch it in there and then
I'll combine the two here in a minute. Okay then I'm going to stitch these together just right at
the top I'm just going to kind of put them at a diagonal from each other and just I'm going to
spot stitch just a few stitches I'm not going to do a lot of stitches maybe two or three stitches
just to hold them together but not kind of permanently bind them so they do still have
some movement and I probably should have done it before I put all that greenery in there but
I didn't. Okay then just to give it a little color I'm adding a little berry pick that I got
at Michael's right down into the front part and I'm not even going to glue it in I'm just going
to stick it in there. All right and then you can just hang the toe together look how cute those are.
If you're enjoying the video be sure to give me a like and subscribe because it really does help
my channel. Thank you. Okay this next one I'm taking a pint-sized mason jar and I'm taking a
leggin. This is a leggin I got at Amazon. I'll give you the link for these you get quite a few
in a pack and I'm pulling it all the way to the top making a cuff and then I'm just going to glue
this right to the jar. Next I'm going to take another mason jar put it in the opposite way
run it all the way down to the end make a cuff on this side and I'm going to glue that one in
as well. This way I can get a center point on my sock without having to cut it right now and
mess it up. Then I'm going to pull them apart and I'm going to cut right down the center and don't
worry about it raveling yet we're going to sew this up here in a second on the bottom just get
it cut down through the center and then turn it up like this side and we're going to take some
needle and thread and we are going to sew a casing and draw that up making just little half inch
stitches all the way around and then I'll pull this in then when you get to the end just pull it
draw it up real good and then take your hot glue gun and glue it in and then go ahead and draw it
up all the way to the end and then you're just going to tie that off in the knot and make sure
you do get it flat because you don't want a wobbly jar. Okay next to dress it up I'm just
adding a real big button to the very front and seal the top edge of the glass. I'm just putting
hot glue around the rim and then pushing the sweater up against it and then holding it in
place until it dries. That way you won't see that it's a glass jar from the outside. Next to give
a little bit of stability I'm just putting some heavy rocks down into the bottom of each one
then to dress these up I'm going to add some greenery and then on this one I bought this
wreath at Hobby Lobby. I didn't use it this year because I couldn't find any way to use it but I
did like the green sprigs on it so I am taking it apart and just kind of pulling those out.
This is a good way to get some greenery that's not too expensive right now because
they've got this stuff on sale for pretty heavy discounted right now and it didn't
take that long to pull it all apart and then you can save the wreath form for something else.
Then I got some pipe insulation to use in place of floral styrofoam because I didn't have any and
I'm just cutting four lengths which actually I only ended up using three. You could use a pool
noodle for this too I just had this in my craft room and I grabbed it. It ended up being about
two and a half inches long and I'm just putting one full one into the base and then I'm going to
cut the second one in half long ways and put the other half of that one in here as well. That way
it fit a little bit tighter but you couldn't put two of those in there. Then I'm going to use both
the green and the green and white together in this base. It just looked good to add you know
a couple different colors of the greenery and I bought those on Amazon. I'll give you the link for
those. You get quite a few of those in a pack and I'm just kind of alternating with those and the
white and green ones and then just take a little bit of time to start straightening them out. You
know kind of open them up a little bit fan them out a little bit so they do blend and then I decided
to come back in and add a couple smaller sprigs right into the front just to kind of fill it up a
little bit more and that was pretty easy. Look how pretty that is. This next one I'm just taking some
two and a half inch ornaments clear ornaments. I'm removing the tops and I'm going to wipe them down
with some rubbing alcohol. Now this really does clean them up to where the paint does adhere to
them real well so go ahead and do this part and then I've just got a styrofoam piece and some
little dowel sticks. I'm just going to stick these right on here turn my ornaments upside down onto
this so that I can spray paint these and I'm going to spray paint these with a matte black paint
and I'm just using Krylon and I'm going to paint the tops with the black as well.
Next I'm taking some brass paint that I bought at Michaels and this is an oil-based paint and I'm
going to pour this into a Ziploc bag and I'm only going to use about a half a teaspoon. Now go ahead
and wear gloves because you don't want this all over your hands and then when you put it in your
bag just kind of move your bag the outside of your bag around and it'll start moving it around
and then drop your ornaments inside and then start shaking them around there and this way you can see
and on the outside of the bag how much the brass is on there and you can stop when you think you
have enough on there. Now the paint will start sticking to the ornaments so kind of you'll have
to pull your ornaments away from the bag and you'll have to manually move them around but
just make sure you are wearing gloves on this because you don't want that on your hands
and then take them out and just let them dry. Those did turn out pretty and you could use
different colors too it doesn't have to be the brass but look how pretty those are
and then I'm just going to put the tops back onto them.
Okay I hope you enjoyed the video today. I hope it gave you some inspiration. If you like these
