PCX 150 Front-Side Plastics Removal.
Removal of all the side plastics to remove the Front side plastics.
Tools: Screwdriver, 10mm/12mm sockets, Plastic pry bar or covered file etc, small plastic wedge to get under plastics.
Time Taken: 35 mins.
Disclaimer: I have a customised back end on my pcx..if you would like to take the whole back end off in one piece please check out other videos online.
We're going to start by taking the back end apart. Remove your two side screws.
Remove your back end screws. Take out the battery compartment for good measure.
That is a little plastic pry for your little side inserts.
Back plastics just pull up and pull forward.
My back plastic is a little stiff on one side so it needs a little bit of wiggling before it
comes out. It's a bit wider. 10mm and 11mm I think or 12mm socket on the inside of your seat box
and undo the little elastic-y battery holder. Inside there next to the battery are two screws,
one in the left, one in the right, holding the compartment to the box. When you take them out
you really don't need to put them back in. The battery compartment is already secure.
You will need to remove the little metal inserts in there though so they don't come falling out
in the bike. One last screw in the back piece. Your handrail plastic is going to be lifted up
and that front section straight up. So just pop all those side bits up until you've got a little
bit of wiggle room. These bits I'm pulling now I'm pulling away from the seat, the seat box,
so they're just sitting on top of the seat box. Same with the other side. You're not trying to
pull it up, you're just lifting it away from the seat box. Now get your plastic pry
straight up from the front end and in the little gap because there's one more piece of plastic in
the side there that needs to come up. That's it. Same on the other side and when you've got both
free then you're going to be pulling that plastic piece to the back end. Exactly the same as on the
other side, once it's up. Don't pull it up, now you want to pull it back. Right now we're onto
the actual metal grab rail piece. What I'm doing here, I know you can't see it properly but there's
cable in there that needs to be freed and you just need to unhook a little latch on both of
the sides there before you start wiggling the seat out. Close the seat a bit, pull it away,
check that cable because there is a cable connected to the seat, you just need to pull
it off the side. Done. My back end is slightly different to most because I've already customised
it. There are videos on removing the whole back section. There's two screws either side
inside the bike holding the plastics. 10mm socket for the back light. I'm not going to remove
all of the back end together, I just think it's a waste of time
and as I've already changed my back end I can get away with this. I'm just removing these
sockets so that the lights have got a little bit of wiggle room.
This would be where you would take your whole mudguard section off, mine is only a tiny one.
I might do a video on making this another day but there's just two little puppers holding that in.
Right here you need to pull the side plastics back and push the light in. There you go,
already freed. That is literally just latched in there where my finger was.
This part of the video I managed to mess up while editing but all you need to do is get the pry
in this section here and roughly where my thumb is holding the plastics,
you're just going to pull straight out because there's only one
clip holding it in place and you can see the holes from the other one.
There's two screws in there and this is holding the front eyebrows on. Pull up a tiny bit
from the top, you're just releasing it, you're not popping anything out, you're just literally
releasing it and I've put my plastic pry in the top end and I'm sliding it all the way down to
the front so I can get my fingers under there and pull straight up. Once it's up you want to pull
straight down towards you and that is it for that piece. You want your 10mm socket for this,
I think it's just a 10 and 12mm through the whole job. Two bolts either side. Right, this is the
bit that everyone's getting confused about because you don't need to remove the lights,
there is no screws in these sections, you just need to man up and you need to be a bit brutal
with this part. All of these plastics in this section are going to be pulled diagonally upwards.
You can see one of the clips as I move my hand, there's just a tiny little yellow
clip you can see in there, they're all pointing in that direction. You can get a pry in there,
you just need to wiggle and release the top section and then once that's freed enough,
so you know you're not going to snap any pieces, you can reach in there and this whole section
is just going to be, nearly lost the camera, yanked out. So you can see they're all angled.
I've moved two screws on the left hand side of this piece, you'll see them straight away
and exactly the same as before. You don't need a pry for this one though, just yank it out.
Three screws, top, middle and bottom, we're nearly there. Front end under the lights,
you're just releasing these two screws to get a bit of wiggle room.
Get rid of your button clip and your front plastic now, right under the light, pull down a tiny bit,
grab the left hand side of your plastics, free it up and pull it out. That screw on the left
is your last one, last one to side panel freedom. Remove that, job's nearly over.
This part you want to pull towards you, bottom section, push forwards and that's it, job done.
Next video I'm going to show you a trick to do this job in under five minutes.
