Welcome back friends! Today I'm sharing my 5 minute no foundation makeup routine.
This is my face with no makeup and this is the look we are creating today.
My go-to highly requested makeup look for a fresh face that's nice and light.
I have to be honest, I am very much a beginner when it comes to makeup,
so this routine is purposely simple, minimal and very easy.
So I don't tend to wear foundation, but I was a little silly and picked something
on my face that I shouldn't have picked, so I've left myself with some red
So I'm going to use some concealer to lightly cover these.
A creamy but light concealer. I'm matching my concealer to the lightest part of my skin.
I like to add a little bit underneath my eyes and on the top of my nose.
I find this helps to give me more of a fresh, awake look.
Taking the pads of my fingers or a beauty blender works too.
I'm going to blend this into my skin. I'm really not pressing too hard here.
Trying to be very gentle with my skin, especially around the under eyes.
There's not that much product here, but some days I will use more, some days I'll use less.
So obviously tweak this to make sense for you and your skin.
There's one area of the face that I really try to focus on because it frames the face so well.
Let's add some shape and volume into the brows.
I use a dark brown eyebrow pencil, but before I go in with any product,
I actually like to brush my brows through first.
This makes it easier to see where to apply the product.
I use small, short, soft strokes on the base of my eyebrow and then on the top,
kind of creating two border lines.
Then I will create the same kind of strokes down on the tail,
starting to fill into the center of the brow.
Even when I was filming this, I accidentally went a little too high for my natural brow shape.
But not to worry, I just use my finger or a Q-tip to go back in and clean things up.
That's why I like a pencil and short, soft strokes,
because if you make a little mistake, it's very easy to fix.
The most important step for me is going back in and brushing through my brows,
not only to blend and soften the color into the brows,
but also to shape them upwards, which gives the whole face a nice lifted look.
I obviously repeat this on the other side,
doing the best that I can to mirror the size and the shape of the brow.
But here's the reminder we all need,
brows are sisters, they are not identical twins.
So just do your best to get them looking mostly even.
This is an ancient eyeshadow palette, but I do really love using dark chocolate brown on my eyes.
It creates such a nice soft look.
I take this thin angled brush and I apply the shadow to the corner of my lower lashes.
I slightly pull on the side of my face so that I can create a wing
following the shape of my eye, kind of creating a wave effect.
I personally don't use anything on the top of my eye because this makes my eye look more closed,
whereas underneath makes my eye look more open.
I like to use a q-tip to soften and blur the whole look.
I use a dark chocolate brown eyeliner pen as well, this one is very good.
It's so smooth and it lasts all day.
I repeat exactly what I just did with the shadow,
small strokes just underneath the lower lashes and small strokes to create a long and thin wing.
It's not a lot of product, just enough to give the eyes a soft, open and slightly smoky look.
Here is where the eyes really come together.
This mascara is really good.
I think it's because of the applicator.
It really helps separate the lashes and create a lot of length.
I'm applying product mostly to the ends of my lashes
and I'm creating a sweeping outward motion as I do this.
I never apply mascara to the inner lashes or to my lower lashes,
mostly because I find this puts product all over my eye, which is not a great look.
My eyelashes tend to angle downward,
so I still use eyelash curlers because they do really help open up the eye.
I let my mascara dry a tiny bit before I go in with the curler.
This seems to make the lashes curl better.
I love blush.
This one is very pigmented and goes on really easily, so a little does go a long way.
I apply it in a circular and tapping motion, just on the tops of my cheeks.
You know when you smile and you get that plump, squishy cheek bit?
That's the best place to apply blush.
Continuing with that circular, dabbing, tapping motion,
blending the product up and into the hairline.
My little secret is to use blush over the top of my nose,
on my forehead in a T-shape, and then also on my chin,
making your face look a little sun-kissed and warm.
I blend and pat this down with the Beauty Blender,
but I purposely go heavy with my blush.
Because I'm not wearing any foundation, my skin will naturally absorb more of the product.
I'm taking a nude lip liner that is slightly darker than my actual lip colour
and creating soft little lines just outside of my natural lip line.
This will give the appearance of fuller lips.
I use my finger to buff this out because I prefer a softer look.
I really like layering my lip colours, so I start with this peachy lip tint.
This is very velvety and smooth, it's not overly drying,
and it's slightly more peach than my actual lip colour,
but I like how this dries down after about five minutes.
Lastly, I layer on my all-time favourite lip product,
which is this velvety ink lipstick.
I really only apply one layer because this is quite thick and a little goes a long way.
And of course, go in and make sure it's all clean with a q-tip.
And that is the final look! Very simple, easy and super beginner-friendly.
What I really want to show you is how this makeup settles into the skin after about 20 minutes.
So here is the outfit I'm styling today.
As I get dressed, you'll see how this makeup becomes softer and more natural looking.
I personally prefer this, I find that the makeup look gets better as the day goes on.
