I am the 25 Bravo and 25 Delta Sarm First Class and Mass Sarm Talent Manager.
I am the 35 Papa Talent Manager, so Linguist Talent Manager, and I manage the E5 Promotable
Population up to E7. I decided to take the job, come here to Fort Knox and do that so that I could
be the Talent Manager that I wanted when I was growing up. There are a lot of different roles
and a 25 Bravo Delta Senior Mentor.
One of the biggest roles that I would think is important towards me is that I manage careers
and give advice on the next steps people need to take in order to stay competitive within their
field. Daily duties vary, you know, with the marketplace implementation. A lot of things
that I do now is a lot of mentoring. People email me, call me, send me a few messages,
or text message me asking about, you know, how they can secure assignments.
Check out the personnel and see what's going on, what their questions are,
what they want to know. Some people are asking questions about cars,
basicization, nominations, assignments that they came up with. You kind of build
a lot of things throughout the day. We also have a lot of fantastic programs available in the MI
Corps as a whole, and specifically for linguists. We have the Intermediate and Advanced courses,
which now, in conjunction with a couple of courses that you can do, knock out a few
electives, you can get a bachelor's degree essentially for free. When I was growing up,
we were scared that all ACARs would end up somewhere you didn't want to go. It's kind
of not like that anymore. I know, you know, the army of the old days was you didn't call branch
because you didn't want to end up on their radar. That's not the case anymore. We don't have your
picture up on a dartboard. We are here to be your advocate, so we want you to call. We want you to
reach out, ask questions, find out about how you can get promoted. So I would say the biggest myth
is we don't, we are not out to get you. We are here to help you. I put my cell phone in my signature
block. I want my people to have the most access to me. It really does make my day when I just get a
random text message, team's message, email saying, hey Sar Rose, just got on ground. This job is
exactly what I wanted, or thank you for getting me what I want. My family's super happy. It really
makes my day when I get stuff like that.
