This is a 1984 bright brass Casablanca Victorian that uses the first generation IntelliTouch control system, which is mostly functional with the exception of a few commands not working properly. I installed new bearings in this fan because the original bearings were terrible. Speed 1 stalls
What we're looking at here is a bright brass Casablanca Victorian.
This fan dates to May of 1984, and this uses the first generation IntelliTouch.
The fan's in pretty good shape, but the light kit is a little on the rough side.
Oh yeah, the fan itself is in really good shape.
I'm not sure who manufactured this light kit,
but it does not appear to be a Casablanca light.
Some people said it was, other people said it wasn't, so I really don't know.
We'll go ahead and do demo mode.
And that light bulb right there is on its way out, so it might burn out in this video, who knows.
So this fan had bad bearings, but other than that it works fine.
The dimming feature of the light is a little bit sketchy, which I will demonstrate shortly.
But for the most part it works just fine.
All right, so that was demo mode.
And I also got this fan along with this Casablanca Delta right here,
which does have good bearings too.
They were listed for free.
I ended up paying $20, so they weren't sold or given to some scrapper.
But yeah, it was a really good deal.
So here's what I mean by the light dimming is a little sketchy.
So when I turn it off and I hold down the light button,
it's flickering really fast and it doesn't dim properly.
And it does that when you turn it off.
So it's kind of weird.
And one thing that could indicate a failure of some sort,
I think it's if I turn the light off.
Yeah, see if I turn the light off, the fan does not work.
So some IntelliTouch commands don't work.
Okay, that one works.
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know what's going on with it, but for the most part it works fine.
It is fully functional for what you would need a fan for.
Actually, let me turn that back off and do speed one
before it would stall out on speed one.
I don't know if it's still going to do that or not.
It actually is working on speed one now.
Barely, barely moving.
I think it's just going to come to a stop.
All right, speed two.
I really don't know why it does that.
The bearings spin very well, very freely.
That's just weird.
I don't know why it does that.
It stalls on speed one.
I don't know what the deal is there.
I really do like the first generation IntelliTouch,
especially the fact that it works.
Even though it does have a pretty high failure rate.
The technology just wasn't really there in the early 80s to computerize a ceiling fan.
I mean, this was right when they were phasing out Slumber Quiet
and introducing IntelliTouch and Slumber 3.
From my understanding, 1984 is the first year of IntelliTouch
and I believe the first year of Slumber 3 as well.
This Delta right here is also from 1984 and it has Slumber 3.
This is speed four.
In this Facebook marketplace listing that this came from,
there was this fan, this fan, and also a Hampton Bay Glendale,
which is obviously a complete junker.
Of course, I left that behind.
I wasn't going to take that hunk of garbage,
but what's really sad to think about is there could have been another one of these
that it replaced or something much cooler that it replaced that could have failed,
but at least these two fans survived.
Now speed six.
It does shake around a little bit.
If I had the proper mounting, I don't know,
if it would shake around.
I have a crossbar up there, but it's like the whole thing is wobbling.
I have it up there with one inch number 10 wood screws, so it's not going anywhere,
but I think it's shaking because it doesn't have anything to rest on the edges there
like it would on a regular ceiling, if that makes any sense.
One thing I've always wondered about first generation IntelliTouch is why,
if the light or fan has been turned on for a while, like 10 or more minutes,
the beeper becomes lower pitch, so that's something I've always wondered.
I don't know if it has something to do with some other component other than the board
because I have a Four Seasons that was converted to a newer IntelliTouch
that was originally RMM1, which it still does that with the beeper,
and this one actually gets higher pitch when it's been on for a while,
and this also got insanely loud, if you notice that.
So after this one's been on for a while, the beeper gets much louder.
I don't know how that works.
Let me do that one more time so you can hear it better.
That is so weird,
but yeah, that is all I have for the 1984 Bright Brass Casablanca Victorian.
All right, so one more thing.
I had this thing running on high with the light on full brightness,
and now this is what it sounds like.
So yeah, there you have it.
I don't know why it does that,
and instead of getting lower pitch, this one gets higher pitch,
unlike all the other RMM1 fans I have.
So if anyone knows why that is, please let me know.
But yeah, that's all I have for this one.
