Dennis Miller Bunker, the highly gifted and prodigious talent was born in New York, studied at the Academy and later the Art Students League, and found his way to Paris, to study with Gerome. He was well-liked and his artist friends proved helpful in gaining work as an instructor in Boston. He was befriended by John Sargent in 1888 and left for England to work alongside him. Bunker would produce some of the most charming depictions of flowing streams in grassy lands that are true to nature while poetic in paint. A great talent with portraiture, but his life would be cut short far too early at just 29 years old.
