Welcome to day one of our video log of our sailing adventure.
Today we are just leaving Buffalo, we're just in the harbor right now, heading out.
Sail's going up, off we go.
Next stop, wherever we get to.
We just left the harbor.
Goodbye Buffalo.
So, it starts out a little bit windy this day, so we did reef to main and we're running
at about a three quarter jib.
There's some huge waves out here, wowee.
Just got splashed.
It's just noon now and you can barely see Buffalo on the horizon, here I'll zoom in
so you can see it, but it's just barely visible.
So we're making some great headway and we're coming up to Hamburg right now, that's Hamburg
Beach right there, so it's looking pretty great, the wind is awesome today, it's going
great so far.
We've got someone kitesurfing along with us.
We're really properly leaving Buffalo now.
The waves are still quite intense.
We want to have some morning in the morning.
It's about 4.30 and we're just going by Sturgeon Point now, that's it there.
It's cleared up and now we can not only see Buffalo, but this is it there.
But things are still going well, the wind is still blowing quite hard, so that's great.
We decided to start up the motor to get us the rest of the way to Silver Creek because
we were tired.
We're just right now passing Evangola State Park, you can see the sign for it over there.
And yeah, we're going to be at Silver Creek in about an hour?
45.
45 minutes, alright.
Yeah, it's about 8.40 and we're stopped here at Sunset Bay State Marine Park.
Dad is over there, he's getting started on dinner, which tonight is chicken and potatoes.
I figured while he's doing that I would give you a tour of our boat, which is a 23 foot
Westerly Pageant from 1971.
Here it is, so we've got our cockpit here, looks like that up there.
And down below we've got our ladder, which behind it is our engine room.
This boat doesn't, we have an outboard, so we don't, we have our engine room, we have
our solar panel and some other things.
We have this bench here, which I've unpacked some stuff onto.
We have my bunk in there.
We have our sink, we have some food storage over here and down here.
We have some more food storage and tool storage over here.
We have lockers underneath here, you can see that.
And back here, and up here in the v-berth is Dad's bunk, we have a little closet where
we keep our garbage.
And then you have to get into the v-berth, oh, and in the v-berth, by the way, we have
a, it leads right outside, so that's nice.
You get into the v-berth, you can open the door, it leads into our head, which is full
of supplies.
We don't have the toilet working, but we have a bucket, but we don't have the toilet working.
We have made some upgrades to the boat, the biggest of which, and most recent of which,
being our new switchboard, which is entirely new.
It, um, it's got new lights, new labels, the glare is making it hard to see the label.
Let me see if I can adjust that.
It doesn't look as though it, anyways, yeah, we got that.
We got a switch for our battery, um, but yeah, we got this all cleaned up in here, we got
our dishes stored here, and overall this is, um, this is gonna be home for however long
we're out.
On our adventure.
