Light Painting Photography - single or multiple exposure approach

In light painting photography we use a hand held flashlight to paint in the light while the camera sits on a tripod and the shutter is opened for a long exposure. There are two different approaches to this technique. The multiple and the single exposure approach. In the single exposure approach the photographer paints in the the whole scene in one single shot. Post processing is then limited to setting contrast and color. In the multiple exposure approach the photographer shoot a series of exposures each time painting in a small part of the whole scene. Later on these exposures will be combined to a final image in Photoshop.
