Eli, Eli, come.
Eli, report, Eli, report.
Oh, look at this wave.
I need a full report on pipeline.
Mine's not working.
Are you speaking into it?
Yeah.
Oh my god, look at that wave.
Why is my walkie-talkie not working?
Okay, I'll see you next time.
So the swell is picking up real big right now,
but it's kind of weird in between sides where it's too big for pipe.
It's not yet big enough for like Waiman, the outer reef.
So it looks pretty fun out here at log.
So we're just going to go out and catch a couple waves for like 30 minutes
and then just get warmed up and probably surf this evening somewhere else that's large.
Oh yeah, it got way too big just now for what we were trying to do.
So time to go get the big boards ready and get out there.
We're on.
It's crazy on this swell how much energy is in the water right now.
It's like these eight foot waves are coming in with the energy of like a 15 foot wave.
And that's just going to keep getting way nutser throughout the day.
So we're going to go get our big boards ready and go surf somewhere large.
I'm excited, nervous, excited.
Are you going to Waiman?
I'm going to Waiman.
How is it?
It'll be fun before dark for sure.
Straight off shore.
Let me know how it looks.
Are you just going to go down?
Let me know how it is.
Took all this stuff out.
Oh god, this thing's still moist.
From the jaws swell.
That is some scent.
This is the board I rode at Jaws.
I'm either going to ride this one, which is a 9.8, or I'm going to ride this one, which is 9.6.
So nice when fins just go in perfectly.
Is anyone there?
Repeat.
Is anyone there?
Over.
Nate, it's you.
I'm pulling up to the Quicksilver house.
Okay, I'm headed to Quicksilver so I can get a front-on view.
No, you come to my Quicksilver house.
Over.
What do you have to go out to fight?
Kind of the whole time.
Really?
Yeah.
It's almost gotten more organized right now though.
Oh, it is.
You guys got fresh arms.
Go get caught inside.
Tired.
There are some steps coming.
Wow, look at this thing doubling up.
It's as big as it can handle right now.
Look at this.
It's like the gnarliest, biggest nightmare ever.
Let's go check some other spots, maybe.
Waves just hit a little different when they're that big.
All right, I'm calling that a session.
My first wave that I kicked out of,
kicked out into like the largest gum sandbar wave I've ever seen.
Landed directly in front of me.
Got pounded, came straight up for another one on my head.
Look at him ride this wave.
Wow.
Silver House, the tower is up for the shootout.
We're watching guys just get demoed.
Over.
We're learning how to use this.
Big barrels.
Swell was a no-show.
Wow.
So this right here is one part of surfing.
When you think you're forecasting everything right
and all the hype is up about a swell coming in
and waves, don't get me wrong, the waves are big
but it's not big enough really for any of the outer reefs right now.
And this is supposed to be the peak of the swell.
And I swear when we were surfing yesterday, there was bigger waves coming through.
Pipe looks thick.
There's two guys out.
Little big but should be dropping.
Getting really good.
Pipeline, we're back.
Thought it was going to be a big wave session.
I mean, it's still a big wave but big wave session.
Turn pipe session.
Can you tell like where you are on the wave?
Even like off the bottom?
Yeah.
No, but his second one was easier.
Second one on your back, he could have done it.
His first one.
His first one, no, I've seen the first one from outside.
Yeah, I thought my first one was going to be bad.
I was like, I couldn't see anything.
It was sick.
Both of them were sick.
Yeah.
The second one was like easier.
The second one you got in.
The second one, I thought it was going to ripe out.
I should have like just cruised first.
I was tripping on how good my boards though.
I was like, whoa, I'm in the barrel.
I can do another pump.
Best pipe wave I've ever seen just came through.
Now, punch myself.
Yeah.
More ginormous pipeline.
I promise to ease your mind.
What do you think of that?
Awesome.
Oh, yeah, we can.
What do you think?
Wave of the winner?
That one, I failed.
Yeah, I'm fine.
I split my shin open.
I don't know.
I think it's, um,
You guys.
A couple of pitches are blue.
I think I'll blur it.
All right, go see the doc.
Let him, yeah.
Ah, your skin is coming out.
It's just fat.
It's okay.
I will survive.
That sounds awful.
I'm just putting this on so that it stays clean.
I'm going to put it on because I cleaned it really good.
And I'm going to leave this on until the doctor sees it.
And then he can clean it again.
Nice.
Good to go.
Well, it was a great day at Pipeline.
Should I stand like this?
All right, that was an amazing swell.
I got one of the best pipe waves I've ever got in my life.
Maybe not the best one, but up there with my top waves for sure.
The swell wasn't as big as we anticipated,
even though it was really big.
But I can't imagine it working out any better than it did.
And yeah, I'm just thankful to be okay on the beach.
And I just sent a photo to a doctor to see if I need stitches or what,
if I can just tape it and glue it.
But we'll see.
Thank you, guys.
I hope you enjoyed it.
Happy New Year, you guys.
