It is a Saturday in the park.
Yesterday was the 4th of July,
and today the Xfinity Series brings their guts
and glory to the streets of Chicago.
Drivers, start your engines!
Streets of Chicago.
That's EG there.
Austin Hill could on to it on the outside.
It's so tough to get the power down around the outside
in that final quarter on a restart,
but you can be, if you get good enough restart,
be on the inside here into one,
and now on the outside into two.
Got Sheldon Creed there.
Able to move into second, that early track position.
See if he can get behind SVG
and kind of just stretch from the field here.
That was a really crucial move.
Had to get there ahead of Austin Hill.
It just opens up clean air.
Now you can focus on who we feel is the fastest.
He was the fastest from behind.
See if he can learn a thing or two.
Humbus drive.
Four-tenths of a mile run down the turn six,
and that can be a danger point,
but also a place for opportunity.
As he tried to make it three wide there in the back.
You got Sammy Smith there.
It gets so tight when you get to the actual corner
in turn six. There's so much open space,
and then it condenses like it does here in the turn seven.
You're watching Sammy Smith, Jesse Love, William Swalich.
They're sorting it out. You got to get single file
by the time you get here in the eight,
nine, and ten side-by-side. It just won't work.
Sammy Smith did a good job there.
He was able to get around William Swalich
and Jesse Love, pick up two spots there.
That's hard to do, Parker. You get around two guys like that,
and it makes your life so much easier.
Shelby Creed hanging tight early with race leader
Shane Van Gisbergen.
The one thing I would say, though,
if there's anyone that understands
and is seeing it on the long haul
and giving exactly what they need to give,
it's the man out front driving the 9.
Austin Hill starts front row, drops to third,
Justin Allgaier into fourth position as we complete lap one
and get back into turn one.
Eight into the corner.
He's like an offensive lineman for Jeff Burton
who also drove through,
and Jack Perkins now having a problem in the 19.
All sorts of cats.
He was running seven.
Had that great qualifying run earlier today,
and that's really damaged,
and I'm sure we'll see a replay.
Caution's out.
Wondering if he backed it in,
I will say for the super car guys that come over,
the biggest thing they struggle with these Xfinity cars
is the wheel hop.
Some help in some respects
is the best view we have of it.
The eight is pretty close there.
I may stand corrected there.
Okay. Yeah, definitely wasn't a wheel hop issue
from the looks of it.
This is really big for them,
and you've seen one of your rivals
already have a major issue,
so these points for Shelton Creed,
whether you finish the second or third,
nine or eight points, I mean, that is going to be huge.
Oh, as we see Brad Perez here.
Looks like turn four.
Stay green as of now.
Boy, it's so tight through there.
Nothing behind you.
He was inside the top 20,
running 19th, Brad, a really good road racer.
He did such a good job to get that car in the show as well.
Had to make it in on time.
That'll end the stage.
Isn't over yet, but there are some guys up there
in the top 10 that really are going to benefit
as we watch one more time
what happened to Brad Perez.
This is just how tough that turn four braking zone is.
It looks mundane, it looks like he's slowed up enough.
Do you start to get that rear wheel hop?
And they earned the wall.
But it's the city, the only thing we haven't talked about
is being in a street course.
Oh, as we've got to caution right now for debris,
possibly from Matt DiBenedetto
or one of the numerous wounded cars
that we're seeing today on track.
But what I was going to get into is,
even in that back section,
as we see the tire carcass there
from the 99 and Matt DiBenedetto,
green to the inside.
Harrison Burton trying to take advantage.
And Shane Van Gisbergen says,
please just move out of my way
because I'm faster and I want to come through.
SVG got a run here.
Look for him to pop out,
make three wide here in the turn six, Parker.
This is a brave move,
but if he can get in there beside the brakes,
so much I'd expect.
Turn six, a dangerous body,
but also a place of opportunity.
Two for one, Shane Van Gisbergen.
Not a great situation there for Harrison Burton.
He got put to the outside three wide
in tight corner loss vaulting positions.
Nick Sanchez following SVG through there,
but we got a battle for the end of the stage here.
Jesse Love trying to come back at Sheldon Creed
in the racing for third as well.
Connor Zilich trying to run down Austin Hill.
Turn 12, final time, stage two.
Back to the white checkered flag.
Sheldon Creed on the restart
and he's going to win the second stage of the race.
Moved by Connor Zilich,
but he sort of looked and thought better of it
and was probably slightly the right choice there.
He'll have arm teases.
Oh, Thomas Netsiota gets spun here in turn two.
Oh no!
Taylor.
I think that was started
as SVG made a three wide pass there into turn two.
Forced the issue, 70 got contact.
Yeah, they were inside the top 10
and with them having their issues and getting collected,
it's open the door for Shane Van Gisbergen
to get a couple of spots on the restart here.
SVG trying to make a move for six.
And I'm just going to say we're going to get a caution
and there it is.
Fifth of the afternoon.
See, watch right here.
SVG makes it three wide.
I think that's Josh Williams in the middle there.
Nights.
Thomas Netsiota into the tire wall.
And Taylor.
Oh, he came to a stop, but then gets hit.
I believe that was Jeff Burton.
Series career.
Usually those cars are beat up, bruised like a Kona.
Parker Retzlaff.
Yeah, it's Retzlaff there, spun out.
It's still just the inside of the lane.
Turn six.
Here's Connor Silvich driving to the inside
of Shelton Creek.
88 on point in Chicago.
Clearly on the radio say,
he's not going to catch you at this pace right now.
So I think if the pace increases,
now we got one in the wall, this may change everything.
And there is the caution.
Unbelievable.
SVG still there?
Still there.
Going to be tied into turn one.
Shane Van Gusbergen.
Inside of Silvich.
Oh!
Shane Van Gusbergen to lead Silvich into the wall.
It was Shane who was the real aggressor there.
Connor Silvich picking up the pieces
and driving back up the second.
Unbelievable.
He's got a problem here with Shelton Creek to the inside.
Austin Hill going to try to fill behind Shelton Creek.
Oh, Silvich, so deep into turn four.
Around the outside.
He's got a lap and a half to go try to chase down SVG.
A bit between his teeth right now.
Got Zerg putting the wall there in turn one.
He's going to be unhappy about that.
He wants to get back to him so desperately.
Turn six for Shane Van Gusbergen.
And if you're SVG, I mean, you pull away a little bit,
you just want to get back to that white flag
because you don't want to deal with another restart today.
And you don't want to look in your mirror
because Connor Silvich probably not happy right now.
Oh, SVG gets loose there.
Connor starting to kind of inch back on him.
Closer.
He saw that and noted it and felt right away
that there's blood in the water.
Start finish line.
Oh!
See the white flag.
Little mistake there.
Been the mistake right there
that completely finishes Connor Silvich off.
One lap to go at Chicago, presented by Credit One Bank.
Shane Van Gusbergen leading his teammate, Connor Silvich.
He's going to have to make serious headway here,
possibly here through turn two.
Try and get the best run he possibly can.
This is where SVG is strongest.
We saw how deep Connor Silvich went into turn four
on the previous lap around the outside.
Can he make up some time here?
Oh, he's had a few reference off the car in front of him.
He's able to do that.
He is a little closer.
Toward six, the hardest braking zone.
Can he start to make more headway?
Just got to get close enough to try to get to that bumper.
Both of them so late on the brakes.
You know, they're pushing these cars
for everything they're worth.
He's possibly close enough here to turn seven.
Silvich not going away.
Turn seven for the final time.
Twelve is where it's going to happen.
SVG got a little bit of a gap.
Opportunity here.
Connor's got to send it.
Coming to turn 12, final time.
NASCAR, you spell Chicago, SVG.
Shane Van Gisbergen wins again in the Windy City.
Here with Shane Van Gisbergen,
won three times on the road,
including here in Chicago.
I don't think it's even up for debate.
Best product, I am.
