Spent a little time on the PGA Tour back now and enjoying life on the DP World Tour once again.
And how about this? What a lovely chip-in.
Schwab, good opening day, round of 69, three under par.
And he surely can, that's an absolute pearler.
Off the first and long.
He's just given Keimer 30 yards there.
Three great tee shots.
All with creative, with the hands shaping the ball.
I went to watch him hit balls, David, as we see that lovely second shot.
Slightly different outfit than we're used to seeing, but same result.
Birdie's coming Keimer's way.
Level par at the moment is Angel Ayora.
This is for Birdie at the fifth.
And yes, lovely.
Gets himself under par for the day.
He never gets up or down.
He's a very sort of what you call a flat liner in terms of his emotion.
He's talking to it.
Oh yeah, it's a good shot.
Really great shot.
That is controlled up where it was.
Don't go any further.
It's the ninth and there's also a par five, as you can see.
And that is a lovely eagle three for the champion of last week's Italian Open.
What a nice thing to be able to say.
Italian Open champion.
Nothing but net.
Par-par Birdie.
Start into the red.
He goes into the top 10 with that Keita Nakajima.
So we have our eye on you.
With a wedge.
Superb.
Ferguson wasn't lacking in momentum at this time last year when he marched at home.
Cracker.
That's one of the best we've seen.
The best spot to play from on this hole.
Kind of on Delling's house and make the most of it.
Well, that's you get what you deserve sometimes in this game.
Jump over to 18.
The final hole.
Nathan Kimsey.
How does the day end?
It's been a good back nine.
10 straight pars and then four birdies since the 11 onwards,
including that round of 68 for Nathan today.
Unlikely you'd go for it.
I'd rather be playing from here with a wedge in your hand.
Screw it back to the hole here.
Use the little ridge.
Yeah, well done, John Parry.
That's better.
So I never really enjoyed them.
Nakajima would enjoy that.
Can he go over?
Yes, he can.
That's an excellent second.
Pinpoint accuracy from Cantor.
That is, uh, it's funny.
David Pooch.
Is it?
Oh, it does.
I guess you say perfect pace.
Marcel Simons on the bottom tier at the 7th.
Von Dellinghausen has got just over the ridge.
So slightly easier part.
And obviously a third of the length and he's capitalized.
Great putt.
Great birdie.
We'll do that.
And I'm a bad judge.
Someone else come over and take this microphone and escort me to the front gate.
Mark's on his way, Wayne.
He's just left the commentary box.
He's running.
Went out to Royal Sinkports before he came here.
Didn't quite qualify.
Missed by two for the open.
But it's good to see him fit again, at least.
Cantor into nine.
Beauty.
28 yards on that flag.
So it's right at the back of the green.
472 yards.
It's down out the right for Cantor.
Work the ball against the wind with his natural fade.
To there.
That's a splendid shot.
Von Dellinghausen.
Wedge.
From a long way down there, wasn't it?
Makes a difference.
He'll be looking to take this about 20 feet right to carry that front left bunker.
Perry is in that bunker after playing out of the right rough.
He had a brilliant lie.
Oh, what a shot.
Shot of the day.
Comes at 11.
And it comes from Laurie Cantor.
Point that where you want it to go.
It's a pretty straight on this occasion.
Right, half and in.
Deliberate tempo on the takeaway.
Great ball strike of Mansell.
Lovely golf swing.
That sort of slow rhythm.
And then just a beautiful slow acceleration.
There you go.
Another example of.
Really is a sort of middle of the green and a big high cut.
If you can do it, that's the right show.
That's a cracker.
Two beauties there from Wu and Mansell.
Wind kicking up just a little bit behind Cantor.
These irons have been laser like so far.
Add another to the pack for Laurie Cantor.
He'll have that to tie the lead.
Straight up a little step.
It's quite slow this.
Out of his right once it gets here.
Will that spark catch for Marcel seen?
This full path read.
You said he wasn't going to get that up and down.
The swing of the putter wasn't quite to be.
I or.
He's a fine young player.
Wesley, Brian.
I know where his brother is.
Nakajima.
Can he find the one?
Well, it was a good effort.
That's a super shot.
Makes it just on the right side.
So he gets within a shot of the lead.
I'm sure why you put your hand on my shoulder as you.
OK, that line mark.
You go, because so.
Popping it in from trail foot going nicely.
Now this is Pablo at the 18th and he's got one.
Yeah, how about that?
Beautiful finish.
He loves a crowd.
He loves to have a cheer.
You go, because so.
Is he going to make it?
Yes, he is.
There you go.
Look at that little turning at the end there.
I mean, what a run it's been this season for all of these French players.
Well, he's held on to the time and he likes it.
Oh, he loves it.
What a shot from seen at 18.
Wow.
That's an epic finish.
Yeah, Marcel seen a real royal battle.
When I can read.
Smith now he's found the right.
Portion of fairway.
It's a very smooth swing that creates a lot of power.
Oh, just wants to experience a couple of shots like that.
Bang in the middle.
And that would have given Jordan Smith a share of the lead.
Now it's going to be.
A very fine opening day of 68.
Penj takes control of the ninth, finds the birdie.
Good work from the edge of the green and a nice closing hole.
Michael, thanks for joining us.
Eight birdies, one bogey and a double in a round of five under 67.
Give us your verdict on the day and why it was so up and down.
Yeah, no, obviously had a great start starting birdie birdie on 10 and 11.
I felt pretty in control of my game.
You know, when I birdie 16, par 17, I thought I've got some good chances coming up,
you know, especially with 18 being probably like one of the easiest I was on the course.
Yeah, seven there didn't help.
Didn't help the day, but yeah, it's one of them things.
I hit it in the water off the tee and made a bit of a mess of it,
but played great on the back nine.
It was really steady.
You're one of the longest hitters on tour.
How much can you use that advantage on this particular course?
Yeah, this course is one that I've been looking forward to coming back to.
I like personally, I feel like for a long hitter, there's quite a few big advantages.
Quite a lot of tee shots that you can kind of gain a lot of strokes.
So yeah, it's nice to be at a golf course where you can kind of let it rip a bit.
And coming from last week, last week was like the polar opposite.
So I was really looking forward to coming here.
13th in the race to Dubai right now into the second half of the season.
You're in position to claim one of those 10 PGA Tour cards.
How high is that on your agenda of goals and how excited about that possibility?
Yes, it's like my biggest, it's my goal, my main goal for the season, really.
You know, my goal coming back was to win and I achieved that.
And then, you know, myself and my team kind of reset the goals.
And it's just kind of making sure you keep your foot to the ground.
And so easy to, it's easy for anyone to get a bit complacent at times.
And I've made that mistake in the past.
So my main goal this year was to not get complacent at all.
And me and myself and my team are just kind of staying in a bit of a tunnel
and trying to get that, achieve that goal.
