The “Duplex” watch was an export product from the Swiss or English manufacturing centers for the Chinese market in the mid-19th century (circa 1840–1880)
Whether “Swiss-made” or “English Duplex”, it was produced in “key-wind”, “centre‑seconds” style, with a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands
✨ Decoration & Finishing
Duplexes are usually gold-plated, with intricate engravings, blued steel screws and blued steel “crab foot” balances

Silver cases are open-face or hunter-case with engraved borders, sometimes with enamel or mother-of-pearl decoration on the “case-back”

Common sizes range from 50–57mm, quite large for a personal pocket watch
