In one of the most dramatic matches of the FIFA Club World Cup 2015-TM,
Inter Milan survived a huge scare to defeat Urawa Red Diamonds 2-1
in a game that had tension, passion and a finish worthy of a Hollywood script.
From the start, the Japanese champions showed no fear.
In the 11th minute, a slick move down the right saw Takaro Kaneko break free,
deliver a precise ball into the box and Ryoma Watanabe made no mistake.
His shot took a slight deflection, wrong-footing Summer bought us all.
And just like that, Urawa took a shocking 1-0 lead.
Inter looked rattled, sloppy in midfield, lacking rhythm
and struggling to break Urawa's deep defensive block.
The Japanese side defended with heart and discipline,
soaking up pressure and frustrating every Inter attack.
But this is Inter Milan, and giving up has never been in their DNA.
By the second half, the Nerazzurri came alive.
Niccolo Barella and Mkhitaryan began to control the tempo.
Inter launched wave after wave of attack.
26 shots by the final whistle, but still no goal as time ticked away.
Then, in the 78th minute, came the spark.
Off a corner from Barella, Lautaro Martinez produced an outrageous bicycle kick.
Ball flying through the air, striking it sweetly and burying it into the net.
1-1. A moment of magic, pure class.
The goal changed everything.
The crowd was buzzing, the energy shifted and Inter pushed for a winner.
But Urawa didn't collapse.
They held on bravely, defending with everything they had.
But in the 92nd minute, heartbreak arrived for the Japanese side.
A defensive miscommunication in the box left the ball loose,
and Valentin Karboni, just 19 years old, pounced.
One touch, one shot, one moment. 2-1 Inter Milan.
The comeback was complete, scenes of celebration from the Italian bench,
while Urawa's players sank to the ground, devastated.
Inter now leads Group E with four points ahead of River Plate.
Urawa, unfortunately, sit at the bottom with two losses from two.
But if there's one thing this match proved, it's that in the Club World Cup, anything can happen.
Drama, comebacks, heroes born in stoppage time.
And this is just the group stage.
