And today Clay Holmes makes his
17th start and he is a ground
ball pitcher as we well know
sixty four percent ground ball
percentage for outs that's
third in the National League
South Freeland leads off Clay
Holmes about set to go Freeland
deep drive to right field
announce your presence with
authority.
Big fella Sal Freeland homers
for the second consecutive game
six home runs on the year for
Freeland his first career lead
off homer look at his sinker
right here down the middle and
he is all over it as his first
career lead off home run from
Sal Freeland and he knows it
off the bat at good start for
the crew good start for Sal in
this series and in this double
header Contreras sitting second
in the order and Contreras hits
one to right for a base hit
Rocky beginning for Holmes back
to back base hits for the
Brewers to start the day.
So now Christian Yelich is
de-aging Yelich goes down on
strikes nasty slider by a home
for the first out of the day.
So now Jackson Churio the
centerfielder twenty one years
old breaking ball popped up
behind shortstop retreating his
door and he's got it for the
second half.
Now Bryce Turang rang hitting
four fifteen during a 13 game
hitting streak for us at first
the one to whack to left field
where the gap comes.
Nemo he's got it.
So I'm tired.
Brewers got the lead off home
run from Freilich.
It's one nothing Cruz.
We go to the bottom of the first
ready making his 18th start
every time out he's given the
Brewers a chance to win.
Brewers are 10 and seven when
Freddie takes the bump Landoor
just two for his last twenty
five.
There's June with a two oh four
batting average and a pop up
into shallow left falling fast.
Collins is there and makes the
catch one away and now Marte
batting two fifty two for
homers.
Nineteen RBI.
He's the D.H. this afternoon
strike three ninety seven on the
outside corner that is perfectly
placed right on the edge at
ninety seven especially after a
three one change up you are not
looking for that pitch right
there Jeff.
Here's Soto coming off one of
the best months in Mets history
three two to Soto and he pokes
one in the center but coming in
his cheerio easy play for him
makes the catch and the inning
is over a one two three inning
for Freddie Peralta through one
in New York it's one nothing
Milwaukee Alonzo who has driven
in just two runs over his last
17 games.
He was leading the majors in
RBI to to swing and a miss
strikes out Alonzo second of the
afternoon for Peralta.
So Peralta now has needed just
seven pitches to get the first
two outs and Mark Vientos making
his first city field appearance
struck him out went to the
slider three K's in two perfect
innings for Freddie Peralta.
He messed down one nothing Jeff
McNeil leads off against Freddie
Peralta.
Oh Jeff gets real.
That got him that came awfully
close to being head high like it
got him on the shoulder.
That was scary.
McNeil is aboard for least
Terrance the catcher McNeil runs
first pitch and Terrance finds
the hole on the right side.
Now that's what you do when you
get hit you take off.
Wasn't a design hit run play but
Terrance made it look like one
of the Mets first and third and
nobody out.
Brad Beatty batting Mets down a
run and Beatty flies one out the
center that'll get a run in
Shurio back out of the warning
track and right in front of the
fence to make the catch.
McNeil tags and scores the tying
run.
It's one to one.
Now the Mets tie the game.
McNeil hit by a pitch scores on
the Beatty sack fly.
We go to the fourth even at one
Shurio is an old veteran at this
point.
He's the first out of this top
of the fourth.
And here's the lefty Bryce
Terrance.
And Holmes walks him on four
pitches walks him in a big
concern for Clay's last couple
of starts.
That's his first today.
Collins with a check swing base
hit to left first time up and
the breaking ball outside ball
for so Holmes issues back to
back walks this time after
getting ahead.
Oh and two to not to a board for
Jake Bowers.
And that's inside ball for three
straight walks issued by home.
Joey Ortiz fouled out to third
his first time up and he hits
one on the ground to third.
The end just goes to second
three.
My time double play side
retired one pitch five four
three double play and Holmes
gets out of trouble in the
fourth.
Juan Soto leads off the bottom
of the fourth in this tie game
three oh down and in ball for
leadoff walk issued by Peralta.
So now Alonzo was struck out his
first time up Soto creeping away
he goes pitch outside throw not
even close from Contreras three
and two to Alonzo after getting
down to the count two strikes
and P-Box one up the middle for
a base hit Soto around third.
He's being waved home.
Cheerios throw coming in is cut
off and the Mets have the lead
Alonzo with a hit with a runner
in scoring position that gives
the Mets a two to one lead in
the fourth.
He got ahead of him with fast
balls and then got it to a full
count with the breaking stuff
and then came in with the fast
ball.
Pete was all over it.
Sixty six runs batted in now for
Alonzo two to one Mets over
Milwaukee sixth inning here at
Citi Field Mets two Brewers one
Christian Yelich and now he's
walked for his Yelich is a word
carrying the tying run leading
off in the sixth call for Reed
Garrett in the sixth inning one
two three inning on Saturday in
Pittsburgh in his most recent
outing Bryce Terang with the
tying run at first and one out.
There's a shot down the left
field line and headed towards
the corner it's going to go all
the way to the wall Yelich is on
the move.
He's going to score and the
Brewers have tied the game one
pitch in to read Garrett's
appearance Bryce Terang laces an
RBI double and extends his
hitting streak to 14 games.
How about Bryce Terang right
here jumps all over the first
pitch Christian Yelich is going
to score easily.
Look how he gets to that top
speed and cuts the bases
perfectly to score easily to tie
the game.
Now the go ahead run is out
there with one away and there's
a line drive to left field
sinking fast to base hit Terang
can only get to third hours is
grounded out and walked and it's
low ball for so Garrett's face
three batters given up a double
a single and now walk in the
bases are loaded with one out
and Joey Ortiz coming up.
There's a drive deep in the left
field and it is a grand slam for
Joey Ortiz.
He got the head out and then
some the Brewers have blown it
open in the sixth inning.
Home run number six for more
teas and his first career
granting Mets losers of 13 of
their last 16 are behind six to
two and the fans letting them
hear about as we go to the
eighth inning.
Isaac Collins leads it off and
Collins out towards left field.
This is way back.
This one is gone for Collins
seven to two Brewers on Collins
fifth have a day bottom third of
the order is breaking ball just
hangs up there for Isaac his
fifth homer of the year three
hundred and ninety feet.
He's got plenty of pop one Soto
to lead off for the Mets in the
ninth.
Brewers trying to take game one
of this doubleheader and of this
three game series 0 2 coming
struck him out.
Good afternoon good evening and
good night.
Three pitches and Soto's gone
Alonzo who has an RBI single and
then he was hit by a pitch his
last time up in the sixth by
Peralta ground ball to short
Ortiz throws out Alonzo two
away.
So the Mets going out with a
whimper.
No that's nine in a row for the
Brewers here for pitchers and
17 of the last 18 and now Nemo
with the Mets down to their
final out Nemo towards left
Collins coming in Collins is
there and fittingly makes a
final out of game one of this
doubleheader the Brewers take it
by a seven to final and the
Brewers give the Mets their
fourth straight loss.
Mets have now lost 14 of their
last 17 as the big inning beats
them again and the Brewers win
the opener of the day and I
doubleheader seven to two.
