HUGE BACK TO SCHOOL COSTCO HAUL 2019!!!
It's back to school time and we have to get groceries for school lunches! Costco is a great place to get gluten free food and snacks for our kids lunches! Today we made a huge grocery haul run and got so much for our kids to be ready for school!
We are at Costco getting ready to do our back to school haul.
This is gonna be huge.
If you have multiple kids in school,
why aren't you shopping at Costco?
Do we have enough in our account to cover that?
We're gonna unload all this
and then we'll show you what we got.
Okay, you guys have asked for it.
You've been waiting patiently.
Today is the day.
We are at Costco getting ready to do our back to school haul.
This is gonna be huge.
We need to stock up and prepare for the school year,
make sure we have plenty of snacks for a million and a half,
just kidding, like five lunchboxes.
We've got Addy with us, Maren with us,
and we are headed in with our bags,
ready to go, ready to get all the things.
So let's see what they have and what we can find
to get us ready to go back to school.
I say, ah, every time you come in here,
it always feels so glorious.
I just like seeing all like the new,
like seasonal things they have out.
Pretty excited to see what's going on in Costco today.
What'd you find, a TV?
What's your own TV?
We actually have not been here since,
the last time was before, like right at the end of summer.
And we said, we want to do one huge Costco haul
to get us through the summer.
Happy to report that it worked.
We made it.
Girls go back to school in three days.
So we pretty much lasted the whole summer.
And we did go for like little groceries and stuff like that.
But for snacks, we were good.
What do you think?
It's scary.
That one's scary?
It's scary, she said.
So I'm looking at this slimy goop things
and John is thinking I'm crazy,
but I took the cards from the girls' school.
Their teacher's wishlist were treasure box items.
I'm going to look at the ingredients in this,
but I'm thinking this is a good treasure box item, right?
These are like a special little treat snack for the girls.
This brand does not have gelatin
and they are gluten free and free of dyes.
These are some of the girls' favorites.
Girls love these and they're on sale right now.
And this is new.
This is like a once in a special treat situation.
Dark chocolate with blueberries.
They're organic, gluten free, vegan, all the things.
That's going to be a little treat for me.
Guys, this is why we love Costco.
So many gluten free options.
Like they're all over the place.
My favorite crackers.
The last time we got these,
we weren't sure if we were going to like them.
So we got one and I immediately wished we had gotten more
and then we didn't come back for three months.
So I'm going to stock up.
We're going to try this.
Okay, we need peanut butter and jellies.
Obviously a school lunch.
I'm just saying, if you have multiple kids in school,
why aren't you shopping at Costco?
These are new, catch.
Just kidding.
Chill, yo, chill.
All right guys, I just walked around all of Costco
looking for a pass card.
Cause you know that's an emergency
when you lose a pass seat.
Addie had it in her mouth the whole time.
Didn't even realize it.
She took it right from her baby sister.
I could cry happy tears.
It always makes me so excited
to see more vegetarian options,
but especially ones like this
that are gluten free and vegetarian.
Killer.
Thank you for making my life easier, Dr. Prager.
Somebody has got to know Dr. Prager.
Tag him in this video and just,
I want him to know that.
Like, thank you.
We appreciate it.
We love the good doctor.
Okay, I don't know what these are,
but they're all the things we want.
So we're going to get them.
Tell us about this guys.
Do you even know what these are?
We surely don't.
Organic bing bing crackers.
I'm pretty stoked about all the new stuff
we're finding here.
Remember I said I wanted to see
about all the new stuff that's going on?
Lots of good things.
So the stuff we get at Costco
is a largely snack foods,
quick, easy, convenient, processed things.
We go to BJ's for all of our like fruits and veggies
and stuff because they're packaged differently.
And I like that.
They have a greater selection of organic veggies and fruits.
Some of them are a little cheaper.
So like that's our spot for our actual like whole foods
and things that we eat.
But most of these are just the snacks.
Each place has its strong suits.
Okay, they stepped up their organic produce game
a little bit.
All right.
Let's get out of here.
We had to finish off this trip
with a little frozen yogurt
and a acai swirl frozen yogurt.
Pretty delicious.
All right, let's get all this loaded up.
Hey, were you looking for your daddy?
Were you looking for dada?
Hi.
Are you funny?
Hey, no, look, tell Graham.
Come on, Chase, here.
She said, I farted.
All right, let's get it all unloaded.
We're gonna unload all this
and then we'll show you what we got.
We did it.
We got it all.
So I am gonna go through all the things that we got
and share a little bit about some of the ones
that maybe we haven't talked about before.
So you guys can see the things we got
in our Costco haul for back to school.
Okay, first thing we picked up at Costco
was this adorable baby who is so tired.
So we're gonna do this quick
so I can get her fed and in bed.
First up, we've got organic Greek yogurt.
This is plain.
We like to add our own fruit to it.
Maybe a little honey or agave, whatever.
And this grain-free granola.
That is like the quickest, easiest school morning breakfast.
It's also something we put in containers for their lunches.
So bam, a little yogurt, a little fruit, a little granola.
Okay, next I grabbed two boxes
of these organic fruit and vegetable pouches.
They are new.
We've opened it already.
They are Murray Kid approved.
I think it probably mostly tastes like applesauce and fruit.
Cool, they get some extra veggies.
One of their favorite snacks are these fruit strips.
I mean, they're just like fruit strips,
so they're just like thicker, but they're really good.
And the kids love them a lot.
Okay, if you guys have been following our family
and all you know, our favorite lunch boxes ever
are planet boxes, and they are like bento style
with little compartments.
So raisins are one of the things that fit perfectly
in those little compartments.
We did get these.
I told you guys last time we got one container
because we weren't sure if we'd like them.
We love them.
I probably ate more of them than the kids.
So we bought three containers this time.
They're so good.
A lunchtime favorite.
We are not vegan, just vegetarian.
String cheese.
The kids absolutely love it.
String cheese is quick and easy to throw in their lunch
or as their like afterschool snack.
They can just grab it and go.
Moving right along, we have this organic hummus.
They come in single serve cups,
so it's perfect to throw in with a lunch or a snack.
You can either take like apple slices
or crackers or whatever.
They can add hummus and carrots, you name it.
We already talked about the fruit snacks.
Those are like a treat for the kids.
So it's not something they'll have every day,
but it is something they get once in a while.
Avocado mash.
They don't like the single serve guacamoles
because it has jalapeno peppers and they think it's spicy.
But this is just avocado, salt and pepper.
They love it.
Again, same thing.
Tortilla chips, vegetables.
Sometimes I make a sandwich with it.
So good.
Grain-free bars.
These are completely gluten-free, non-GMO, all the things.
Great for them to have.
They have lunch and then they have
an afternoon snack at school.
So that's, you know, those kind of packaged bars
or fruits or stuff are really great
for the afterschool snack
because it doesn't need to be refrigerated.
Moving to the back,
we have some organic coconut milk and macadamia nut milk.
We have not tried the macadamia nut milk yet.
So I will keep you guys posted on how much they like that.
But both of those are for smoothies.
Smoothies are a breakfast, lunch and dinner thing
in our house.
We have them all the time.
You can add so many different things to it
and they love them.
Right up there are the Simple Mills almond flour crackers.
These are my favorite gluten crackers.
They're so good.
They're seriously so good.
So those with some cheese,
with some avocado mash,
with some hummus,
with whatever you want to put on it.
Those are amazing.
The kids will get those a lot.
And they're made with almond flour.
So you've got a little extra goodness from the nuts.
Up there we have sweet and tangy dried mangoes.
I have zero idea if my kids are going to like these,
but they do like normal hydrated mangoes.
So my guess is that they'll be okay with dried mangoes too.
But if we want to test it,
we've got a perfect candidate.
What do you think?
Ready?
Let's see what she thinks.
It smells like Christmas.
Here, do you want to try this?
Oh, you got a foot.
That's better.
You want to try that?
What do you think?
Do you like the chew on that?
You're cute, man.
Is it good?
Is it yummy?
Okay, I think it's safe to say we have a winner.
Will our older kids like it?
I'm not sure.
They smell amazing.
Right next to those is something
I am 100% sure my kids will love.
We have dark chocolate with wild mane blueberry bites.
And then this organic dark chocolate Belgian thins.
Let's grab them.
These are both new to us.
We've not tried them.
So I'll keep you updated.
But this, certified gluten-free, it is vegan.
USDA organic and non-GMO.
It has blueberries in it, bite-sized chocolates.
This is like a special treat.
This is like, you did really well.
This is like, I love you.
Or it's Valentine's day or whatever.
You know, whatever you want to like
give your kids a little treat.
That's what we'll use this for.
Ready?
Are you ready for what's in this?
It's chocolate with quinoa, almonds,
buckwheat, goji berries, sunflower seeds, and pepitos.
Vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, organic,
bio-organic, fair trade.
All the good things, you guys.
All the good things.
With love from Belgium.
I love that, it's so cute.
Another special treat for them.
So this is what their lunchboxes look like.
So I'm thinking, break off a small piece
and put it right here in this little treat compartment.
Then they have the things, the things, the things.
We just kind of fill them up with goodness.
So we've got lots of applesauce.
Our kids love applesauce.
One, two, those are for home.
The cups with the spoon.
So we get the Kirkland brand organic applesauce pouches.
They are way cheaper than the GoGo Squeeze
or any of the other brands.
And they're just as good.
Apples are one of the dirty dozen things
that are like oftentimes genetically modified.
So it's something we do by organic and GMO.
In case you guys are wondering,
there's a list you can look up called the dirty dozen.
And those are the things, the fruits and vegetables
that are most sprayed with like chemicals and pesticides.
So if you're looking for a place to start
choosing healthier options, it would be,
I would say that list.
Try to buy those organic when you can.
Okay, while we're talking about it,
rice is another thing that we always buy
organic and non-GMO.
But these rice rollers are so good.
I've seen some brands that have gelatin in them.
These do not.
And I think they're delicious.
They kind of taste like sugar smacks.
Coconut clusters.
If you guys have seen our Costco hauls,
you know how much we love these.
Our kids love these.
I don't even like coconut and I like these.
These are our favorite.
We got some more gluten-free crackers.
Those are new to us.
Don't know if we'll like them yet or not.
If we buy them in the next Costco haul,
you'll know we liked them.
We got some organic cashews.
So when you're packing lunches the way we do,
and with our kids being vegetarian,
you know, protein is something that's kind of like
tricky to get in there.
Not really, because it's in a lot of things,
but it's in smaller amounts in lots of things.
So what we like to add a lot of times are nuts,
because nuts are full of protein and healthy fats.
Very down here, we have Honest Kids juice boxes.
Field trips are just like special whatever things.
A lot of things we'll just pack their water bottle,
but sometimes for a snack, we'll throw in a juice.
Peanut butter and jelly.
Our school is not a peanut-free school,
but they do like separate kids with allergies.
At lunchtime, this one's actually not made with peanuts.
Not so you can look that up.
Here is peanut butter, strawberry jelly.
We also bought this organic blueberry jelly,
because I'm thinking toast will taste amazing with this.
I love toast.
Comment below if that's one of your favorite foods.
For me, it is too.
Oh, right, I almost forgot the bin bins.
All right, we're gonna try them.
We're trying the bin bins.
I don't know how I feel about this bin bin.
It's like a corn pop without the sugar.
You know, the cereal?
Yeah, like a corn pop.
They taste like corn pops without all the extra sweetness.
They're not bad, but I was not expecting that.
So last thing, we usually get most of this stuff from,
actually, we get most of our frozen fruits
and vegetables from BJ's.
Costco's really stepped it up
in the fruits and veggie department
when it comes to organic stuff.
So these were like, I don't know, $5, maybe $6
for a two-pound thing of organic strawberries,
which is a good deal,
because our grocery store right next to us
is half of these is six bucks.
Crazy, right?
A bunch of strawberries.
We actually did get two of these things of blueberries,
and those were $4 for this big thing of blueberries.
Organic raspberries.
And then some cucumbers.
Our kids eat cucumber and cheese sandwiches,
cucumbers as snacks, cucumbers and hummus.
They eat a lot of cucumbers.
We got this big bag of carrots,
which will last us, like, maybe a week.
We got some Banza chickpea pasta.
This is Classico pasta sauce.
It was a steal.
It was like $5.40 for three big jars.
Not the normal size, like the extra big 32-ounce jars.
Three 32-ounce jars of pasta sauce, organic.
And then we got a bag of black beans,
because we eat them all the time.
We put them in our Instant Pot with some water, 30 minutes.
Bam, you have black beans for dinner,
for, like, tacos or enchiladas,
and then you have them the next day for quesadillas,
or whatever.
And last but not the least, I almost forgot,
this is one of the girls' favorite snacks,
one of my favorite snacks, Made Good.
This brand is amazing.
They have all kinds of different things,
but Costco sells these for, like, little round balls
of oats, some have mixed berries,
and then other ones have chocolate.
They are made with vegetables included, okay, you guys?
And they are totally, like, school safe.
No peanuts, no dairy, no tree nuts, no egg, no soy,
no sesame, no wheat or gluten, no fish or shellfish.
Their facility is dedicated to all of that,
so that's super cool.
That is our Costco haul.
I'm gonna put the cold stuff in the fridge,
and then I am going to go to bed
and put the rest of this away tomorrow.
Okay, so I am missing the pizza.
We got some gluten-free pizzas.
They are the cheapest at Costco.
It's three for $15, which is, like, the bomb,
and they're actually really good.
We had them for dinner tonight,
and we got the Dr. Prager's veggie burgers,
and I'm so excited to try the new kind.
But yeah, all in all, that is everything
for our back-to-school haul from Costco.
We do have to go to BJ's
and probably grab a few things from Walmart.
We should be geared up for, like, the first, you know,
month of school, at least for snacks.
Okay, so I am gonna throw this cold stuff in the fridge,
and I'm gonna leave the rest of it for the morning
because I am tired, so I'm gonna go to bed.
We love you guys so much, and we will see you soon.
I hope you enjoyed shopping Costco with us
to get ready to send some gluten-free kids back to school.
