Vịt mào Smew – Bóng ma trắng giữa rừng nước lạnh

Vịt mào, tên khoa học là Mergellus albellus, là một loài chim nước thuộc họ Anatidae – nhóm bao gồm các loài vịt, ngỗng và thiên nga. Đây là loài vịt có ngoại hình độc đáo và rất dễ nhận diện, đặc biệt là con trống với bộ lông trắng tinh và mào dựng nổi bật.

Hiện nay, vịt mào được xếp vào nhóm ít nguy cấp (Least Concern) theo phân hạng của Tổ chức Bảo tồn Thiên nhiên Thế giới (IUCN), tuy nhiên số lượng toàn cầu không cao và đang có xu hướng giảm nhẹ trong một số khu vực.
