As the Cubs and the Cardinals get ready to go at it, it is Game 4, and the Cubs gunning for the split.
A hot, steamy afternoon.
It'll go Hap, Tucker, Suzuki, then PCA, Swanson, and Bush, Kelly, Horner, and Shaw.
The Cubs second in the majors.
Only the Dodgers have scored more runs per game than the Cubs, and that group will go up against Andre Palante.
Yeah, fourth-round pick in 2019 by the Cardinals out of UC Irvine.
Slicing liner, left field, it'll fall for a hit, and then Donovan able to keep it close by, and a single the other way for the leadoff guy.
Cubs took advantage and stole, what, three or four bags.
Big jump for Hap, that one drilled right field, it's back, back some more, and the catch is made.
And scrambling back towards first is Hap.
He didn't retouch.
No, he didn't.
Yeah, Brandon Donovan's all over him, sprinting in from left field.
And Hap is out.
It's a double play.
An unfortunate ball really well stung, and Burlington's made a ton of great plays out there.
And Ian, you know, he's a very instinctive, very smart player, but he just kind of goes into panic mode here and says,
I got to get back.
And if he does go back to retouch, they're just going to double him off anyway.
Yep, and Naga mentioned that hamstring issue.
Yeah, May 4th, the last time we saw him, away from Wrigley Field this year.
He's been outstanding in five starts.
On the ground.
Bush will take it.
And some irony there, perhaps.
No doubt.
See if he goes back to that splitter.
On a hop, and it eats up Dansby Swanson.
It kicks into shallow left.
Wynn will take a turn, but a man aboard.
That'll be a base hit for Wynn.
A real tough play for Dansby.
One he's certainly capable of making, but not an easy chance.
And had himself a good at-bat there.
Long battle, and gets himself a knock.
Thing you just flipped up here.
3-2.
Swing and a miss.
Struck him out.
Showed his back.
Showtime.
Mikey Managa the second.
Whatever you call him.
3-2.
Hammered right field.
That one back on its way.
And gone.
Michael Bush will touch them all.
His 13th of the year, and the Cubs jump out front.
He absolutely clobbered it.
Home run replay brought to you by Toyota.
The official vehicle of the Chicago Cubs.
Nice, smooth swing.
And then a laser.
Heads up.
Here comes the 3-2.
On the ground.
Arenado dives.
It's off his glove, and it trickles out into left center field.
Carson Kelly with a two-out single.
Hitting in the eighth spot here today.
That's on the ground.
Win over the first.
And that's the inning.
That's really cool.
On the ground.
Sliding play by Horner.
Gets up.
Throws out Arenado.

Nobody's listening.
There's a swing and a little pop up.
Shallow left.
Tap coming on.
This one lined back up the middle.
And a base hit for Matt Shaw.
Payoff to Sayah.
And that's ball four.
And PCA will get his chance.
Fly ball center field.
But at Hampson.
He's there.
He's got it.
And the Cubs leave a couple.
And a swing and a miss.
Struck him out.
Swing and a miss.
Struck him out.
The 3-1.
Line drive.
Base hit.
Center field.
And Michael Bush.
Locked in right now.
He's two for two.
A one out single.
Kept his head down.
Is he looking?
Is he looking in here?
Ground ball.
Base hit.
Left field.
So Kelly able to punch one through the left side.
And to a board.
With one out.
On the ground.
Through the left side.
And a base hit.
And he'll hold Michael Bush.
So Nikko comes through with men in scoring position again.
The 1-0.
Line drive.
Caught at third.
And the runners will retreat.
Really good contact from Shaw.
Two good swings from Matt here today.
Base hit first time.
And tough break here with the bases juiced.
3-0 now.
Here it comes.
And he walked him.
And the Cubs have another run.
It's 2-0.
Good job he had.
You talk about Kyle Tucker knowing the strike zone really well.
Up the middle.
Oh, and Winn is there to flag it down.
And Tucker retired.
And the Cubs lead.
The 1-2.
Popped up.
Foul ground.
Carson Kelly is there.
And he's got it.
And Shota pitches around the walk.
Right, left, right.
With your batting order.
3-2 to third.
Arenado fields.
Fires on the move.
In time.
The 1-2 now.
On the ground.
Softly hit.
Nico charges.
Over to first.
And Shota.
Five shutout here today.
Broken bat.
Popped in the air.
And O'Brien makes the catch.
For a strike from the lefty on for the 35th time.
A 2-12 ERA.
In the air.
Left field.
But Happ has a bead on it.
And onto the track.
He's got it.
And field bar.
Able to get a 1-2-3.
3-2.
Swing and a miss.
Pitching has been excellent.
Keller part of that group.
An ERA of an even two.
And two.
One out.
Inside ball four.
And he's walked back-to-back guys.
The 0-2.
Chopped towards third.
Shaw up with it.
Steps on third.
And that's all they get.
Fly ball center field.
Pete Coe Armstrong.
Racing.
And he makes a sliding catch.
PCA tracks it down.
And it stays 2-0.
He almost overran it.
Slam on the brakes.
2-2.
Off the end of the bat.
Rolling, rolling, rolling.
Fair ball.
Rawhide.
Thing of beauty right there, man.
The 1-2.
Line drive.
Softly hit out of the right center.
PCA around second.
On his way to third.
And he'll make it easily.
They're at the corners following the single by Dansby Swanson.
I'd run Dansby.
They're running Dansby.
Contreras.
They're going to get this run here.
And they just stole a run.
You're a genius.
Well, I just, I mean.
It's such a high risk play when PCA is on the bases.
Insurance runs are brought to you by Gallagher.
Helping you face your future with confidence.
Drew has been outstanding.
With that 0-0-0 ERA.
Come in in the fifth.
As he gets the strike out there.
Fly ball left field.
Happ under it.
And out number three.
Pomerantz pitches around the single.
The 1-1.
Center field.
As Happ flies out to Hampson.
Will go to the bottom of the ninth.
Last chance for the Cardinals.
Daniel Palencia on to slam the door here on the Cardinals.
In the ninth.
1-2.
Laced out into right center field.
And PCA will go and collect it.
It's a lead off double for Burleson.
So the two strike approach pays off.
A ball and two strikes.
Inside at 1-0-1.
Did it get him?
Yeah it did.
After review.
Call on the field is confirmed.
The runner was hit by the pitch.
The order first base.
Chicago loses their challenge.
The 1-2.
Swing and a miss.
Struck him out.
And Arenado is gone.
There's one away.
Slide ball there from Palencia to get Arenado.
Here's the 2-2.
Swing and a miss.
Struck him out.
And Palencia gets back-to-back strikeouts.
2-2.
Struck him out.
Ball game.
Cubs win.
Palencia finishes it off.
Oh and now words.
And benches are going to empty but nothing's going to come of this.
Jonathan Moda making his way all the way over to Wilson to try to play Peacemaker.
And golly mama or somebody said I got it.
Wilson had a little dust up with the Reds here a few days ago.
Had one with the Brewers.
He runs hot.
He does.
No doubt about it.
And we'll see the Cardinals next weekend in Chicago.
Contreras upset about being hit.
And after the strikeout, Palencia has something to say in the general direction.
Probably didn't need to do that.
Of Wilson Contreras.
No he didn't.
He's running hot.
He's a lot of adrenaline pumping.
