So we're in Lidl's and I've got one of these accessible things because my knee's been a
bit dodgy. I've damaged my knee a couple of weeks ago and it looks like it's got loads
of Christmas stuff. German supermarket Lidl opened its first store in the US in 2017.
They've now got 173 stores. The things that you'll find is that if you've got a Lidl app
you'll get a couple of things that are cheaper and they've got four pounds of oranges. Again
like probably way too many oranges but £2.99 is a great price for that here and the Granny
Smith's apples for three pounds of them £2.99 as well. So not bad but you do need the app
so that's the first thing you're going to need to do. If you're a Christmas fiend they've
got little baby Christmas trees here £9.99 for those ones that size and I don't really
know what the difference is too much and those are £11.99 except the price but these are
good value. £2.99 here for these little poinsettia ones, really pretty. They've got
fresh flowers and everything. It's a nice store actually. I think we're going to have
to quickly download the Lidl app. Dinner rolls here, really good. Four for $2. Regular price
is 59 cents but these are like lovely little German brötchens, really good. News for those
with sweet tooths, 89 cents for a doughnut. It's not too bad actually. That seems quite
cheap. You can buy them singly. Their bread looks really good as well. French baguette
there, £1.99 for a bigger one. Really good prices. Wow, they've got some lovely bread
here. They've got some German bread for £3.99. Massive loaf as well. The butternut squash
there, 98 cents per pound. You always get thrown out there don't you? Quickly shows
you the price. Here's the price of potatoes, $5.79 for that little bag of potatoes. Not
cheap. £3.48 for these ones. It's a good price, $1.49. How many's in that? Looks like
three big fat ones doesn't it Gary? Yep. We'll have one of them bab. One of the things we've
really missed being in the van is having a baked potato because we're not able to really
sort of do it. We don't have a microwave or anything. So now that we're doing a little
house sit for a couple of days, we're looking for massive, giant, massive baked potatoes
to have a big old baked potato. Aren't we Gary? I can't see any at the moment. Russet
potatoes are great actually. You've got £5 of potatoes for $2.49. Easy to make a nice
baked potato out of one of them. Collection of bread. They've got some organic rye bread
for $2.99 up the top there. That's quite good. And then they've got your variety. So it looks
like the cheapest bread you're going to get is that split wheat at £1.32. That's very,
very cheap here. You've got some garlic naans for £4.29 and some wraps for £2.99. Gluten-free
wraps are £4.99. Not too bad. And then what have they got here? Bagels are a good price.
So you've got plain bagels £1.95 and they also do blueberry bagels as well. Great price
on the old peanut butter. £1.84 for smooth or crunchy. That's pretty good actually. Then
they've got more branded ones for £2.98. You've also got chocolate spread at £2.39.
Really good price. And a bit of honey up there. Doesn't look organic or anything like that.
Small bottle for £3.94 or the larger one for $8.49. You're looking for a bit of jam?
Not bad prices actually. £1.99 for the strawberry and they've got some apricot and raspberry going
up in price slightly. But they do the thin cut orange marmalade there for £2.99, which is really
not bad. If you're a hummus maniac like me, not bad price. £2.87 for the classic hummus. It's
quite a big size as well. They've got a couple of choices like roasted garlic and classic. All
£2.87. Very, very good. Three cooked salmon is quite expensive. $13.99 for three pieces. They've
got some sushi there if you're a sushi fan. £4.99 down from $6.00. Good price on the pizza. So a
massive pepperoni, pepperoni pizza. $6.89. £9.95 for whatever this is. The ultimate meat pizza. I
wouldn't like that. Gary likes them. Three cheese. So little pasta things, £2.99. They're quite cheap.
Did the old, £2.99 for an organic chicken, but no, that's per pound. So they're more like $14,
$15 for a chicken, aren't they? I think we're going to get one of them though because I'm
cooked to roast chicken brages. Chicken breast tenderloins there, $4.50. Regular chicken breast,
it's about $7.39 here for a packet of three. A large packet of cooked shrimp, $17.69. It is quite
a big packet to be honest. It's a two pound bag. Good value tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, £1.59. Not
organic. Cherry tomatoes, $3.49. They usually have organic products in here. So let's see what
they've got. Price on their organic tomatoes, $2.49. That's not a bad price, 40 cents a pound.
Right, bargains on the old sort of Asian food, haven't they? Sweet chilli sauce, $2.49. Yes,
please Gary, get one of them, hun. Because even if you didn't use it up, that price is brilliant
in here. Organic rice noodles, babes, $2.49. That's great. Seem too bad, $2.75 for a box of
organic. It's red cabbage there for 87 cents it looks like, which is brilliant.
Grapes, good price, $2.38. Mushrooms, excellent price, $1.65. Price on the broccoli crown,
$1.97. Price of your steak, they've got organic, just an organic steak, $12.29.
A tenderloin steak, one piece, $9.99. And they're charging £9.99 a pound on their beef ribeye. Beef
stir-fry, $8.99. It doesn't look organic or anything like that, just regular.
Fajita stripped beef, $9.99. Minced food, so we've got some ground lamb, $9.99. That's not cheap,
I've seen it cheaper in Walmart. $6.49 for your ground lean turkey, not too bad. That's not too
bad, $7.36 for the organic ground beef. And the regular ground beef, $6.29. They've got some for
$4.99 as well. And the Wagyu, very good price at $6.67. Some of their sort of festivals,
they've got some of those gingerbread hearts, $3.99. They've got an assortment of cocoa,
so little hot chocolate flavours, that's a nice little present, $15.99. Your Christmas
selection, you've got Christmas cookies there, $5.99, quite a big box. Mini chocolate figures,
$2.99. Gingerbread, $3.49. Stalin, there's a little marzipan gift box there, that's $7.99.
They've got the Father Christmas, the Santas for $2.49. Gary's going to have that broken in a
minute, will we pay for that? And then you've got mini marzipan bars, $3.99. They've got all sorts
of Christmas treats in here now. So they've got a little mini panettone, $1.99 for little baby
ones. In the sort of deli aisle, and this is what always surprises me, oven roasted uncured turkey,
not a bad sized box here, $4.50. But this one's $7.50. $4.98 for the smaller packet,
it is quite small, and $4.50 for a few slices of the honey turkey breast. The cheese aisle,
and singles are $1.98 for a packet, that's quite cheap. $2.49 for these sort of sliced
cheese packets as well, which are good. And $1.79 for this. Really good prices of sliced gouda and
the mozzarella, they're all under $2, so that's good. And then you've got some other choices
around about the $2 mark. Cream cheese, Aldi do their own one by the look of it,
two for $2 if you've got the app. Regular price is $1.59, well worth getting the app, you know.
But when you're going up to your branded products, Philadelphia, it's not too bad actually, $1.89
for the original there, $3.18 for that one. Butter is a little bit cheaper here, so we've got,
can't believe it's not butter, for $3.98. And, oh this is quite nice, this plant butter,
it's great, that's $3.99. Normal packets of butter, looks like two for $5.
Like plant-based milk, like almond milk, we like that, $2.39, that's good. How much is the regular
milk honey? $1.37. $1.37, we're going to need a bigger one I think darling. So the organic milk
at the end there, that's $7 isn't it Gary? Yes. It's quite expensive, it's your price of eggs.
Eggs have gone down since we've been here, definitely. So 12 large eggs, $3.34. Organic
free-range, that's a good price Gary, $4.99. That's a good value. Cage-free eggs, so free-range
in other words, $2.67. They've got their sort of Christmas ornaments out, they are going quick by
the look of it. Christmas tree ornaments, $2.99. Decorations for $0.99. They look like they've got
little blankets, LED string lights, $4.99. And a decorative tree, that's really good value, $19.99.
Not sure how tall it is though, but they have got their bits and pieces out at the moment.
Frozen desserts are good value really, they're a lot cheaper in here.
They've got one of these cooked shrimp rings, $11.99. Here's their snack aisle,
Lay's crisps there, they're going for $3.68 for one of the bigger bags.
Very comparable in prices, but then I think they've got their own branded stuff,
which are much cheaper. So you've got $1.95 for these ones, I think that's plain crisps.
Barbecue, $1.95, Gary likes those. Corn's quite good value, $2.99 for organic olive oil and sea
salt. There's a couple of little flavours there, that's quite good value in a massive bag. The
frozen aisle, they've got things like buttermilk pancakes and French toast sticks, $2.75. A good
price on their own brands for shampoos, dandruff shampoo $2.84, $0.99 for shampoo and conditioner.
For laundry it's really expensive, $8.69, $8.99. This seems quite cheap, $5.39.
You have to really shop around for it. This is really good value, $1.39, $1.45.
That marinara at $2.19, excellent price. A good selection of tinned sort of vegetables,
sweet corn, $0.64 or $0.58. Peas, very good prices. Sliced potatoes, $0.99. Not bad prices.
Tuna, $0.99 for a tin there, but that looks good value, $3.49. That's how many in the packet,
Gary? It looks like, is it three, is it? That's not bad. Milk's really good, $1.49 in here.
It's got some other prices, but that's your cheapest one. Decorations, got an LED reindeer
with a sleigh. This is $49.99 and they've also got Christmas trees for the porch.
It's a two pack it says, 42 inch tall with fake snow, $39.99. Christmas advent calendar's out,
really good value, $2.49. Some of them are a bit more expensive, but here we go. We've got
mixed up Disney princess ones, $2.49. It's a lot cheaper in here than I've seen it,
so you're getting bars there for $1.99, all different types.
