I bought it in 1989. We moved out of
downtown Rapid City for a short period
of time and moved back in 2000. I think
what makes Victoria's Garden unique is
that we're a flower shop. I mean, I
think just being a flower shop is a
unique experience for people that they
don't get everywhere they go. And people
do enjoy a destination that feels like
an escape when they walk in. Like
they're in another world with flowers
and plants and cats and fish. And it
just feels like they've stepped out of
real life into some place that smells
good and feels good and they can just
come hang out with us. What's it like
being a merchant in downtown Rapid City?
I love it. It is a small community of
like-minded people and I feel like we
are all a family with similar goals and
we share a lot of the same clientele and
we're very supportive of each other.
Downtown Rapid City has changed so much
since my business opened. They went
through a period of time that nothing
was happening in the downtown area. an
organization or a group got together and
revitalized downtown and put in Main
Street Square and the rest is history. I
It's incredible right now. I love being
downtown. Downtown Rapid City and Main
Street Square contribute to businesses
in our area by creating events, creating
interesting activities to attend, and
make it a fun destination for people in
our community. in people who are
visiting. I would hope that people would
like to support local businesses because
we are the same as them. I mean, we're a
individual with a passion. We provide a
service and a product that hopefully
they enjoy and need it. Coming in to
visit with us or purchasing from us, I
would hope feels like they are working
with a friend. I would describe Rapid
City as ultimately small town. I grew up
here and have lived here my whole life.
And so I feel like I know Rapid City.
It's very comfortable to me. It's
beautiful. We have the Black Hills and I
think Rapid City has beautiful scenery
and really nice people.
