It's the third and final game of this weekend series between the Chicago Cubs and the Seattle Mariners.
There's two things right away that I think we should watch for Ray. If he's been vulnerable it's been against lefties and that first inning
he can struggle a little bit. I highlight that in particular because you got Cal Raleigh hitting third today
so he'll be hitting lefty against Ray and you just want to try to keep the ball down, keep in the park Alex.
It's J.P. Crawford to start things off.
Swing and a line drive into left field for a base hit. J.P. with that patented hit the other way.
So a leadoff single for Crawford.
Rodriguez out to right center field.
Seya back at the warning track. He makes the catch.
Nice grab on the way.
One out one on. Here's Cal Raleigh. Three home runs his first two games of this series.
He goes after the first pitch.
A high riser center field.
Cal Raleigh bombs away again.
Straight away center field.
It's his fourth home run in three games on the north side.
He just continues to charge through the record books.
Number 31 this year for Cal Raleigh.
All season long Cal Raleigh has been ready to hit on that first pitch.
And once again the first pitch he sees he turns it around.
It's Logan Gilbert up on the mound.
Start number eight this year.
His second since coming off the injured list.
So both Haff and Tucker hit warning track fly ball outs.
And the ball is really going to carry again today.
Two down nobody on. And the batter Seya Suzuki.
Seya says Seya.
19th homer of the year.
That was crushed.
Cubs get on the board. It's a 2-1 game.
You really can hit a home run much harder than that.
And it just bangs off the video board the top of that.
And then bounces out of the stadium.
So a line drive rocket by Suzuki.
And the Mariners have two down here in the second.
Dominic Canzone the batter.
Canzone deep the opposite way.
Dom Canzone let it fly.
Number two on the year for Canzone.
And it's now the Mariners three and the Cubs one.
And yes indeed the ball is going to be flying out of Wrigley Field all day long.
Just keep getting the ball in the air.
That's the best advice for the Mariners today.
3-1 Mariners another home run for Dom Canzone.
It will be Michael Bush to lead off this second inning for the Cubs.
Logan Gilbert and the Mariners lead 3-1.
A swing and a miss.
As that splitter disappeared.
Second strikeout for Gilbert.
Here's Nikko.
Really tying him up on that one.
Running down and in.
And Nikko Horner strikes out.
He's got a 7 percent strikeout rate.
That's third lowest in the majors.
Logan Gilbert ties him up with the splitter.
And Matt Shaw with the two out single.
Here is Reese McGuire.
Shaw's off.
Throw down to second.
And Shaw has another stolen base.
1-2 again to McGuire.
Swing and a miss for strike three.
And Logan strikes out the side here in the bottom half of the second.
He has four strikeouts already in this ballgame.
The Cubs swinging and missing.
Two men on one down.
Here's Jorge Polanco.
Good pitch Collin Wright.
Strikes out Jorge Polanco.
That's a big second out here in the third.
First strikeout today for Collin Wright.
And here is Rosarena.
Got it.
One away, 3-1 Mariner's lead.
And the batter now is Donovan Solano.
Now this is a rocket out to left field and gone.
Donovan Solano joins the party.
Mariner's third home run today.
That's Donovan Solano's second home run of the season.
And boy has he been on just some kind of tear.
He had three hits yesterday, three hits the day before.
Donnie Barrett is back to being just that.
The Mariner's back in business.
Back-to-back singles.
And here comes the top of the order with one out.
Got a place, right time, double play, ends the inning.
There's one out for the Mariners.
So here's Cal Robins.
Fights this off into right field.
Suzuki can't make the catch.
He's able to pull that into right field.
And so he reaches for the third time today.
Towards second.
Nice play.
Bruhan up to first.
And he gets the out.
Jorge Polanco face planted as he crossed first.
Hopefully he's OK.
So two outs and Cal Raleigh at second.
Here is a Rosarena.
Bruhan can't get to this one.
Here comes Cal Raleigh rounding third base.
And on his way home, it's bobbled out there by Suzuki.
A Rosarena tiptoes into second base.
He drives in a run for the Mariners.
And they play a little add-on here in the fifth.
Five to one, Ems.
This is the one pitch today.
It was also the pitch before that he buried in the dirt
that I just feel like isn't quite as sharp as it needs to be
when he's trying to throw for a strike.
So Rosarena pokes it the other way.
A sale with a bobble out in right field.
The run's going to score on this.
It's another nice attempt by Bruhan,
but just outside of his glove.
So here's Reese McGuire to lead off the bottom
of the fifth for the Cubs.
Reese McGuire to center.
Julio Rodriguez watches it score.
Reese McGuire dead center.
Solo shot, fourth of the year.
Cubs get their second run of the game.
They trail five to two, 432 feet later.
Yes, please.
A little bit more play time.
Look at the results.
Base hit for Tucker.
Comes with two away here in the bottom of the fifth inning.
And it'll bring up Seah Suzuki.
Seah again, out to left.
Seah says Seah.
Second of the day, 20th of the year.
Comes right back in this one.
It's a 5-4 game.
Seah Suzuki.
What did that ball do to you?
By being second of the day, absolutely ripped.
Gover tries to come in with a splitter.
Leaves it up just enough where Seah makes this a no doubter.
Dom Canzon has had a great day.
He's two for two with a homer.
Canzon, deep out to right field.
If it's fair, and it's going to be plenty fair,
it leaves a dent in the scoreboard.
Dom Canzon, his second home run of the day.
His ability to find the barrel is really something to behold.
And the Mariners now have a two-run lead.
That ball was blasted by Canzon.
And the Mariners working it here in the sixth.
Runners at first and second with one out.
Julio looking to join the fun.
He's 0 for 3.
McGuire can't corral it.
Both runners move up.
That helps.
The infield end really cuts down on their reaction time.
Chopper over the mound.
And Horner looks home instead.
Goes to first with it.
Mastroboni scores.
Drives in a run.
7-4 Mariners.
Two out of one.
So Garver reaches.
And here comes Solano.
Here comes the one-two.
Swung on.
Crossed.
Left field.
This one's on its way.
This is going to go.
It is gone.
Top of the stands.
Left field.
Donovan Solano has left the yard for the second time today.
Solano crushing the Cubs.
Eight hits in the series.
Two home runs today.
And the Mariners extend the lead.
9-4 Mariners.
Five homers on the day.
It's home run derby here in Chicago.
Hit off off Justin Turner.
Outfield deep and straight away for Kyle Tucker.
Let's see if Kyle can get on.
Top to center.
Julio Rami a jam.
Heating up.
Second homer in as many games.
Two run shot.
Cubs not done yet.
Getting back in this one to the seventh.
Tell you what.
Kyle Tucker's starting to heat up.
Yeah, he is.
Cal draws a walk.
And the Mariners have the bases loaded with one out here
in the top of the eighth inning.
And continue to do what they've done all game long.
And that's add on.
It has been constant traffic.
Now they're talking about how to approach Cole Young here.
Taking his first plate appearance of the game.
He took over at second base for Polanco.
Fights it off in a left field for a base hit.
Mastroboni is in to score.
Cole Young with an RBI single.
It's a 10 spot today for the Mariners at Wrigley.
Keeps the line moving.
One out base is still loaded for Rosarena.
Hit hard.
Fair in a left field.
Julio waltzes home.
Cal Raleigh makes the turn.
And the Mariners just keep on adding on here
in the eighth inning.
This time, it's Randy Rosarena.
The Mariners are doubling up the Cubs in the eighth.
And the Mariners have two down here
in the top half of the eighth inning.
And a chance to get some more.
Here comes hot hitting Donovan Solano.
Up the middle.
Hit firm.
Base hit center field.
Donovan Solano brings home two more.
And the Mariners have matched their season high 14 runs today
against the Cubs.
Donovan Solano continues his hot hitting.
Five runs are in here in the top of the eighth inning.
And it's now the Mariners 14 and the Cubby 6.
And the last hope for Chicago, it is Kyle Tucker.
The 1-2.
Popped up.
Master Boney, the former Cow, puts the squeeze
on a Mariners series win.
Their first ever series win here at Wrigley Field.
Final score here from Wrigley today, Mariners 14, Cubs 6.
