Journey to the West: Chapter 1 – Song 3 – The Source Begins to Flow

At the edge of time, in the breath of space,
a whisper is born, a spark takes place.
A stone that dreams, a light that grows –
a ripple in the stream that flows.
The heavens listen, the stars align –
a creature stirs with fate’s design.
Born not of flesh, nor pain, nor cry –
but with a mind that questions why.
The gods observe – not with fear –
but as a parent drawing near.
They know he’ll rise, they know he’ll fall –
but through his storm, he'll hear the call.
No force shall mold him, no chains remain –
only the path of loss and gain.
A king of stone, so fierce and bright –
will one day walk the path of light.
The source begins to flow –
not in fire, not in sound.
But in a monkey wild and bold –
a will begins to resound.
He’ll lie, he’ll fight, he’ll break the sky –
but deep within, he won’t deny:
a light survives, however dim –
a silent call, a hidden hymn.
“We’ll let him wander,” heaven speaks,
“for finding truth is what he seeks.”
He holds no law, no sacred vow –
but time will shape his soul somehow.
Guanyin sees – the balance sways,
yet mercy waits through unseen ways.
A single spark, if rightly turned –
can shift the fate the world has earned.
Each birth is like a thread in time,
a rhythm to a greater rhyme.
One drop of stone – and yet a tide –
the heavens nod, and stars confide.
The source begins to flow –
within a beast, still wild and raw.
But all the heavens understand:
his fall will forge the greater law.
What leaps today may kneel tomorrow,
what laughs will learn the weight of sorrow.
What storms the sky may one day lead –
and help the world in time of need.
A glance of stone –
catches divine breath.
A thought is born –
that outlives death.
The path begins – the stars all glow…
and quietly… the source does flow.
