Pinky up! Damsel star Millie Bobby Brown (Elodie) has strong opinions on the right and wrong way to do high tea. Here are her tips on the best ways to do a proper British tea time.
Never, ever heat your tea in the microwave.
That's disgusting.
For someone who actually drinks tea,
this is not even just content.
That is disgusting.
I'm going to teach you heathens how to do it right.
Because you may think you know how to drink it,
but there are a lot of rules.
This is very proper.
So this is actually how my parents drink tea.
Okay, so you're gonna get your little sieve,
pop it over the teacup.
You're going to pop the tea in there.
And I like to have quite a strong tea,
so I'm gonna fill it up probably over halfway.
If you put milk in first, you're an amateur.
How can you determine how strong, what color,
what consistency, how are you able to determine
what it's going to be if you put the milk in first?
Bizarre.
We're gonna do a splash.
Let me mix.
Right, that's a lovely cup of tea.
I actually only have brown sugar,
so I'm just gonna do it for the vine.
But this is white sugar, and I'm just gonna put one in.
Now, if I was in a bigger mug, I'd put two in.
And if I was in England, I would use half-spoon sugar,
which is so bad for you, it's sweetener.
But you have to literally put half a teaspoon in it,
and it's the sweetest thing
you'll ever taste in your whole life.
The best.
In you go.
Okay, mix, mix, mix.
Pinky up.
This is actually a lovely cup of tea.
You'd actually be shocked.
That was very nice.
Thank you very much for that.
This whole situation is very bougie.
I don't do this.
Actually, I hate finger sandwiches.
And I'm gonna just say that.
Now, cold sandwiches are my dad
and I's least favorite thing ever.
Now, scones are delicious.
Scones.
I don't say scones, I actually say scones.
Oh, it's very nice.
Chocolate digestives is what I have with my tea.
If they were here, this would be a different story.
We have biscuits with it.
If the biscuit melts and goes to the bottom,
you start again.
You can have maybe one try with a spoon to salvage it,
but that's it.
The second that biscuit starts to crumble in your tea,
you start again.
This is really bougie.
These are clearly from,
well, actually these are my fiance's favorite.
Like two days old, this is his favorite.
I'm being challenged to do a blind taste test.
Tea made in the microwave versus tea made the proper way.
I would know.
I feel like I should know because I'm so against it.
Never, ever heat your tea in the microwave.
When I taste something, I know who's cooked it,
where it's been,
if there was a strange utensil mixed with it.
I mean, I'm pretty on the spot.
This is, oh, okay, okay, hold on.
This is a different story.
There's no milk in there.
It's the right one.
Am I right?
You think the right one is which one?
It's the microwave.
I'm right.
And that's the tea.
Without even tasting it?
Yes, I don't need to taste it.
I can tell by the look of it.
So I did it.
I passed the princess and the tea test.
So that's how the royalty drink tea.
But remember, if your prince and his family betray you
and leave you for dead, feel free to burn it all down.
Maybe save the scones.
