Have you ever wondered if all those sea turtle rescue videos are real?
Today's video might shock you, but it's a story that needs to be told.
We're exposing a disturbing trend. The creation of fake barnacles on helpless
sea turtles, all for the sake of views. Stay with us
till the end and let us know your thoughts.
Let's paint the scene a serene beach, a gentle breeze and
oh what a coincidence, a passerby just happens to stumble upon a poor
But not just any turtle. This one is covered in barnacles.
And not just any barnacles. These are colorful, picture-perfect barnacles,
almost as if they were hand-picked for the occasion. What are the chances, right?
Naturally, our self-appointed hero springs into action,
carefully cradling the turtle, always with dramatic flair,
and positioning it right in front of a conveniently pre-placed camera.
Gotta get that perfect angle after all. And the tools?
Oh, they're as creative as they come. Knives, scissors, garden spades, or
whatever happens to be lying around. These aren't exactly professionals, but
hey, they've got a show to put on. The rescue begins, and the barnacles?
They come off far too easily, like peeling stickers from a toy.
No resistance, no damage, just a satisfying pop.
Suspicious, right? Here's the twist. Real barnacles aren't so common near the shore.
What's easier to find? Oysters. Yes, oysters.
When barnacles are too much work, these crafty creators substitute them with oysters,
tiny clams, or even decorative aquarium moss. That's right, the kind from pet stores.
Nothing says rescue like gluing on fake moss, does it?
So, what's the difference between barnacles and oysters?
In short, barnacles are crustaceans. They look like tiny volcanoes and
Oysters, on the other hand, are mollusks with smoother,
more irregular shells that don't resemble barnacles at all.
And just like that, a perfectly staged rescue unfolds,
crafted with precision to tug at your heartstrings.
You might have even watched one of these videos without realizing it was fake.
I know this might leave you feeling a little disheartened.
But the good news is, these fake cases are far outnumbered by real rescues performed by
genuinely kind-hearted people who work tirelessly to save marine life.
Now, you're probably wondering, how exactly do they pull off these fake videos?
Up next, we'll show you a detailed recreation of the process to help you spot the difference.
Alright, to help you really visualize the process,
we've decided to use our very own turtle for this experiment.
Now, I know what you're probably thinking. Hold up, aren't we not allowed to keep sea turtles?
Well, you're absolutely right, of course.
But don't worry, we came up with a perfectly legal workaround.
Instead of a sea turtle, we've got a seven-year-old land turtle.
This little guy has a nice, wide shell that's just perfect for decorating, if you catch my drift.
He might not be a sea turtle, but he's still got a shell that screams,
look at me, I'm ready for a makeover.
Now, let's head back to the beach for our exciting barnacle hunt.
Real barnacles, as you know, like to hang out on the sides of boats far out at sea,
which makes them a bit trickier to come by.
But guess what? Oysters are a whole different story. They're everywhere.
Seriously, they're like the clingy X of the marine world.
They just stick to everything they can.
The best part, we didn't even need any fancy tools to pry them off.
A simple flick of the wrist, and boom, we're peeling them off like stickers from a new notebook.
But hey, we weren't about to take any chances,
so we gave them a quick test to check how tough they really were, just to be sure.
And to really complete our collection, we went ahead and grabbed some small clams.
These little guys are always found in clusters,
living their best lives in the mud and dirt along the shore.
So, if you happen to spot one of these clams clinging to a turtle's shell,
well, that's your first clue that something's definitely not right.
I mean, come on, it's not exactly a match for real barnacles, is it?
Barnacles are tough, and they like sticking to things like boats and rocks,
not clams huddling in the mud like they're at some undersea party.
So yeah, if you see a clam on a turtle's shell, the alarm bells should be ringing.
It's like putting a fluffy pillow in the middle of a rock concert.
Just doesn't belong.
Now, with our supplies gathered, it was time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.
Armed with oysters, clams, and a few other handy accessories we found along the way,
we were finally ready to decorate our turtle shell.
Hey, guess what?
We even managed to catch a sea worm.
Looks pretty interesting for our barnacle removal video, right?
Just look at it.
All right, we've got all our materials ready.
Now, I just need a bottle of glue.
But don't worry, we're using aquatic glue.
It's as gentle as possible for our beloved turtle's shell.
Oh, and just to clarify for this test video,
we're only applying glue to a few outer edges of the shell,
the easiest spots to clean, and with the least impact.
We're not here to torture our turtle promise.
And for the rest of it, well, we went with double-sided tape.
Yep, you heard that right, double-sided tape.
Not exactly the strongest adhesive and definitely not waterproof.
But hey, this is just a simulation, right?
Don't worry, I'm not slathering glue all over my turtle's prized shell.
Now, here's the real kicker.
Some of these so-called rescue videos, they go way beyond just a little creative editing.
They actually use super sticky glue to attach barnacles to the turtle shells,
all for that so-called realistic look.
Can you believe that?
It's honestly sickening to think that people
who are supposed to be rescuing these animals
are instead putting them through this nonsense.
Imagine the nerve of these so-called heroes
treating helpless animals like props for a viral video.
It's beyond disgusting.
What do you think about that?
Do you feel the same anger?
Let us know your thoughts before we go on,
because this is where it gets truly upsetting.
As for the small clams we used,
don't worry, we didn't go crazy with glue.
We didn't want to risk it.
Instead, we just placed them directly on the shell
with a little bit of mud for the effect.
No harm done, just a bit of dirt for realism.
I hope that clears things up for you.
Now, let's compare this to a colorful turtle shell
that looks like it belongs in an art gallery.
Seriously, how much of that could possibly be real?
You do the math.
If you've made it this far and found this useful,
or at least entertaining,
we'd love for you to share, like, and subscribe.
Stick around for more real rescue missions,
and of course, more outrageous animal antics coming your way.
Well, now it's time for the cleaning session
with our beloved turtle.
Just to be crystal clear,
we absolutely adore this little guy
and wouldn't dream of harming any part of him.
For this gentle experiment,
we simply gave him a nice bath with clean water,
a bit of kid's toothpaste to scrub,
and a soft cloth to wipe him down.
And voila, our dear turtle is back to his original state.
A huge thank you to our turtle
