What does it mean to "practice Dharma?" Buddhist master Ringu Tulku argues that Dharma practice doesn't need a special place or time, but should be a part of our daily life.
To make it clear what our real motivation is.
Meditation, mindfulness is also good, I think it's good.
But mainly in Buddhist ways, we start with what we call our motivation.
Sometimes we call it bodhicitta.
I think that would be the most important thing.
What is it that I am doing? What is it that I want?
What is my final and true kind of ultimate goal?
So when I can make that very clear,
I think I would have my mind very clear where I'm going, kind of.
And what I would like to train in, and things like that.
And Buddhism is not only meditation.
It's an all-round training.
Sometimes people cannot meditate,
and people cannot have too much time to meditate,
and then they say, I can't practice Dharma.
But you can practice Dharma even without meditation.
Eightfold path, six paramitas.
Meditation is one of those things.
You can just practice kindness.
That's practice. That's great practice.
It doesn't need special time for it.
Tolerance, patience, behaving in a good way, good conduct.
Dharma practice should be very much to do with our life.
How to live our life.
Not like something we do, you know, extra in life.
Because many people see it like that.
Oh, now I need ten minutes, I need twenty minutes,
I need two hours to practice Dharma.
And then rest, you do the usual way.
I think that is much less Dharma practice.
Then even if you spend hours,
how you see things, how you react to things,
how you live your life.
That is where the true practice of Dharma is.
