TikTok has pushed the “Old Money” and “Quiet Luxury” aesthetic to everyday people who think having nice clothes = wealth. In reality they are just cosplaying having a private jet and going on trips to Monaco. There is a massive problem with the trend cycle on TikTok and the push for everyone to have a copy and paste style. Owning beige polos and dress pants doesn’t mean they come from a wealthy family linage, it means they have bought into the hype of the aesthetic.
