Round 2 of the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont is in the books. Sam Burns leads the way, but J.J. Spaun, Viktor Hovland, Adam Scott, and several others are close behind. Relive the action with our condensed highlights now!
He was runner up in Canada, Sam Burns,
struggled to the finish yesterday.
Kurt and little downhill here.
He's got to be careful.
But maybe the best putter on tour.
Certainly one of the best putters
on tour and he showed it right there.
Sam Burns now at 13.
Taking a pretty direct line at
that front right hole location.
Load up the flagstick,
clank it right off of there.
Burns hit the flagstick on his
tee shot here at the par 313.
Now for Birdie to get to even
still some left or right break.
Read it perfectly.
Just got a beautiful putting stroke.
It's pure and just it'll feed
all the way down to the right.
Yeah, his eyes were doing
that looking well left.
Yep, that's exactly where he needed to land it.
This should be really good.
This is only going to get better guys.
Yeah, he's really good out of the rough
when he has trouble from the short
stuff, but wonderful touch.
You think that was fast?
After a lovely pitch from just short of
the green to the right in the rough.
Yeah, I got it.
He's looking really confident right now.
Pretty steep coming down into the ball,
which is what you need out of this long.
Rough got a lot of speed.
17 Kepke and now Hovland and they are
matched up at three under just one back
of JJ Spahn one soap and there were six
Eagles recorded here at the 17th
hole throughout the week.
Yeah, it was moving.
You can hear people yelling sit, sit, sit.
Fortunately, the flagstick got Eric Van
Royen is at 10.
It's been a tough run for him with bogey,
then double and then bogey
in his last three holes.
But number 10.
Provides a little bit of a change for Eric.
As he makes his second birdie of
the day and gets into 8 over par.
I even got a chance to smile.
He knows it's.
Tried to land this just a couple large,
short of couple yards short of that hollow.
Get it to jump right down in there.
See if this comes back and
this could be very close.
And there's the difference you said,
with Kepke another yard or two closer.
Yes, you gotta hit the windows
shop from 155 to here inside of 8 feet.
Give it to him. Sam Burns first player
to complete a bogey free back 9 here.
And that's a 7 I.
It's basically a straight
shot going right after it.
Here's Hovland hitting his third member.
He was in the bunker on the
right side off the teeth.
Good position to play fairly
aggressively here from 166.
It's called when he executed
shot from Hopper.
After the drive in the bunker.
Able to pay it off and makes birdie.
Now you can see Sam Burns has
taken a penalty drop here.
This is his third.
He would gladly walk away with
the five here at his closing hole.
Not even save his power.
If you can make that,
if that stays right there as a false front,
that is a great shot.
Smart decision as it starts up this slope.
He had a nice third shot there and be
very happy getting a five to finish his round.
Maybe a four to finish this round.
Get greedy facts wow.
65 the best we've seen for the
championship and his best at a US Open.
And three under for the championship,
Ben Griffin back than we've seen.
141 yards in here into this location
right over the right bunker.
Up and down early second round for
Dietrich and that one talk about getting down.
Lands in the fairway for his second JJ
spawn just shipping a 9 iron here from 128.
Just trying to take the spin off the ball.
Use that spin to his advantage right there.
Continues to hit good shot after
good shot finding fairways.
We need a lot more fingers a lot of times, yeah?
Bouncing back again.
His third bogey today at 13.
See how high he's trying to launch
that to get it to land softly.
Hear the firmness of the Greens,
but they're still receptive with that spin.
They're still kind of drying out.
Under par small group just kind of
gets squeezed down as we get to the weekend.
This is a birdie attempt for Adam Scott,
though at 14.
