No issues from my side, obviously it would have been a different feeling had it taken out of the race,
but ultimately I benefitted from it and he was penalised.
I was a bit surprised to see he'd taken responsibility, so fine.
But I haven't spoken to him about it.
We actually bumped into each other at the airport the other day,
but I actually completely forgot we crashed into each other a few days prior.
So, yeah, no issues.
We saw each other because we're basically both travelling out.
So, yeah, no, all good.
I think we all live and learn, right?
And I explained immediately on the Monday my views.
So, yeah, just move on and try to have a good weekend here.
It's good to be here, it's good to be home, racing in Montreal.
And our wrists are feeling good.
There was a procedure that took place after the Spanish Grand Prix.
Just how confident are you that there won't be a recurrence of the problem?
Yeah, just because it was bothering me for a few weeks over Imola, Monaco.
And then Barcelona was just really brutal throughout the weekend.
And, yeah, I got the procedure done and drove this week.
And I was feeling pretty good, so I'm confident.
A special race for the whole team, obviously.
200 is a very nice number.
And we are thinking of the history.
Our livery this weekend, our suits.
It's a little throwback, which is very nice.
And I hope that this one will be a good one for us.
Well, look, any result, especially one like this, it's very welcome, very positive.
Obviously, it's been a bit of a difficult and dry patch,
all the races between Melbourne and Barcelona.
So, obviously, that was, of course, very successful, very positive for us,
for the morale and everything.
We introduced an update in Barcelona, which really had a big impact
and just made us perform a lot better.
Obviously, the race circumstances, the late safety car, Kimi, dropping out.
We got a little bit lucky with some of the circumstances,
or they played into our hand.
But I also feel we were just on merit.
The pace was decent, was points worthy.
And obviously very happy we were able to capitalize in a way like that.
Second time in Montreal, first time actually driving.
So I'm excited for that.
I was here last year as a reserve driver.
So doing a bit of the behind-the-scenes,
and now I'm excited to actually be behind the wheel.
Special weekend for the team as well, of course, 200 race weekends.
You've been here for just over 10 of them.
So, yeah, how are you feeling about that as well?
And quite a milestone for the team, isn't it?
Yeah, I'm very proud of the team and how far they've come.
Of course, it's strange to say I've only been there for 10 races,
but the youngest team in F1,
and to hit such an incredible milestone of 200 races is very special,
and I'm very happy for them
and glad to have played a very small part in their fantastic journey.
Yeah, definitely it was a step ahead.
We have seen as a team that the car did an improvement.
Yeah, let's see what we can achieve this weekend.
Obviously, every track is every track.
We're going to try to maximise everything we can this weekend.
Midfield is super tight,
so we know every single millisecond makes a difference
that can put you in a better position on Saturday for qualy
than for Sunday on the race.
Yeah, let's try to extract everything.
Hopefully, I can get my points soon.
It's always learning when you're in the car.
Yeah, it was a good, decent lap in the tank in Barcelona.
I had a good comparison between RB19 and RB21,
especially driving in the same track.
It's always good, and also trying to train six tyres as well.
Yeah, a mix between feedback and also learning.
Yeah, it was good.
I had a tough race week in Barcelona,
but it's a race week that I have to forget.
I just reset, and yeah,
I don't want to really think about it too much yet.
I mean, I enjoy being the hunted.
I've said it before.
It means you're normally doing something right if you're in that spot.
So I'm enjoying it,
and I think the season's obviously gone very well so far.
I think Spain was a great example of that.
Try and continue the success and the momentum from there, I guess.
I think this weekend should be good for us, hopefully,
but I think the competition will be tight.
It's a track that tests everything.
It's basically a street circuit.
It's very bumpy.
The weather's often at play,
so there's a lot of variables that can spice things up.
So I think we'll have some competition from a few teams around us.
Things are heading in the right direction, all in all.
Consistency was strong,
but always things to keep working on and improving on.
But I think the main part of it was it was a strong three weeks.
Never perfect,
but plenty of things I could take away, work on,
and try and come back to the next one here a little bit stronger than before.
The triple header has been positive in a way
that I think we've maximized the potential of our car.
We just need now some upgrades in order to be consistently and not relying...
I mean, in Barcelona, we got lucky and we got that podium thanks to luck.
We were in the right position to take it,
but still we were a little bit lucky.
So I hope that soon we won't need any luck to be on the podium.
I think we are fighting for P4 and P3.
If we really do everything perfect here,
I don't think McLaren is reachable.
We both had issues that were hindering us massively
from halfway through the race already.
What I didn't know is whether or not we had that problem,
but obviously I said on the radio that it was the worst feeling car that I'd ever had,
and it truly was with that issue.
At the end of the race, I was kind of like,
geez, I've never experienced something this bad
for such a prolonged time through a race.
It wasn't until after the TV interviews,
I get back to the engineers and we find out there was an issue.
So it was a bit of a relief to hear that
because I definitely didn't feel so terrible afterwards.
Yeah, we need to keep improving the car.
I think the last few races have been a little bit better for us.
Three times in the Q3, in the top ten,
and then probably three times in the podium with a little bit better luck.
We came to Montreal, which is a good track for us,
has been friendly to us always in terms of pace,
so we need to confirm the improvements here.
Competitiveness was not quite there. I think we expected that.
In reflection, though, not a terrible weekend.
I saw some statistics that we were the most improved team by far
compared to the previous years, so we're going in the right direction.
I actually enjoy going to tracks like that.
It exposes where we need to work on.
Immediately, it's nice to get into these meetings
and everyone's talking about,
these are the areas we need to focus on the car for next year.
I always have that good pressure.
I don't have a bad one, but the pressure to perform and deliver.
At the moment, myself, I'm just enjoying a lot this new job.
It's going really well. I'm happy with the team I'm at.
It's great.
Would you be ready to drive a Red Bull?
It's a bit scary.
I wouldn't feel ready. I'm just nine races in.
It looks to be complicated when I look at Juki and Liam,
who are very quality drivers.
I'm not very ready, but I would always be here for the call.
We all expect to have an off weekend in Spain
as a team.
Unfortunately, that didn't end up happening
because our car is just not very suited to Barcelona.
At the same time, we were the most improved team
compared to any other team around the track.
It's just still not enough to get points.
We remain positive and know that better tracks for us are coming
with Canada being a good example.
It's one of those first tracks where if the car is good,
I'm driving well.
It's just a matter of putting things together
and getting good points.
Because this year, it doesn't matter if I'm fast
or if the car is working well in certain circuits.
We seem to be struggling to put our soul together
and I'm looking forward to it.
Quite a tough triple header on my side.
Especially because performance-wise,
I think on my side, I didn't do that well.
Then we had also a couple of issues.
But overall, I think it was still a very big learning on my side,
especially on how to manage busier weekends.
Especially Imola was incredible in terms of business
and also first time in front of the home crowd
and definitely didn't manage things the best way.
But overall, it's been quite tough.
Not the way I wanted.
But luckily, after these three difficult weekends,
we had a week off.
Now I feel ready to be back on track tomorrow.
This triple header, we've shown some good performance at times.
Some of the times, it was obviously a lot trickier
than we expected.
A bit up and down.
I think that's what we're going to see throughout the whole year
when you're looking at the gaps at the moment.
In Q1 in Barcelona, you had a tense between P6 and P15.
It just shows the attention we've got to have on all these details
and really try to get the package in the sweet spot every single weekend
if we want to be able to be in a position to fight for these points.
I was expecting to do a bit more progress after Imola.
But it's always tough to get back into F1 after six races of not being there.
There, drivers learn a lot.
Tyres, management.
When you are not driving, it's a little bit tricky.
I think it was really good this break, this week off,
to get back with the team, to get back united together
and understand the issues, understand what we have to do better,
where we were lacking some pace and where we can improve as well.
I think it was a good break and hopefully it brings some performance for now.
It's good to know that the car was fast here last year.
But at the same time, it's quite often now that we look at last year's results
and to be honest, they don't repeat themselves a lot of the time.
So tracks that maybe we haven't been strong at,
we've actually been strong at this year and vice versa.
I think we just have to take it like any weekends.
For me personally, it's a track that I'm very excited for.
It's an iconic place.
It looks like a fun track.
It's something that's...
I actually spoke to Daniel last week about this track and he loved it.
So yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
