Will Teather's exhibition at Red Eight Gallery, London. The artist discusses some of the ideas behind the work.
My exhibition at Red Ape Gallery marks another chapter in my creative journey.
The works are united by a sense of the uncanny, the carnivalesque, the otherworldly and an
interest in the history of painting and how to take that forward into the present day.
The show includes everything from pantomime Danes reimagined as necromancers through to
reinterpretations of old masters paintings that explode their underlying geometry.
It includes 360 degree panoramic globes that reinvent the canvas as a circular panorama.
It includes characters caught in curious scenarios.
The paintings explore a painted world and the reality that that brings,
where the unreal becomes more real and the real becomes illusioned.
