Tamala Edwards said goodbye to the Action News Mornings team Thursday, but don't worry, she's not going far!
A bit of personal news, as they like to
say. As I tell my boys, life is change
and change is life. And some changes are
coming here. This is my last show with
you on Action News Mornings, though I'm
guessing I'll be asked to fill in in two
weeks. That's the way it works. But
Aliana Gomez will starting tomorrow will
be your anchor. I'm going to the 10 a.m.
and I hope you will come join me there.
But before we get there, of course, how
could I leave without telling you thank
you and standing in gratitude? I came
here in the winter of 2005 in a
snowstorm, a blizzard blizzard chasing
me down 95 to move here and I thought I
was coming for a job. Little did I know
I was coming to get my life. This is
where I met my husband with Matt
O'Donnell doing a story where I had two
boys at Broad and Vine at Hanaman
Hospital and where I finally learned to
understand football so I could be an
Eagles fan. We have had so many tough
stories but so many good times. You
know, I counted them all up and we have
spent about 5,000 mornings together. And
throughout that whole time, you've kept
us number one. I mean, what a sign of
trust and affection. And you know,
people will say to me in the streets, "I
love you. I love the show." And I'll
always say, "We love you back a little
bit more." And it is true. We love you
back. I love you back. Thank you for
embracing me in the city. And so when
you start talking about love,
There's so much I could say. You know,
people will say to me, "How do you get
up so early, 1:30 in the morning?" And
I'll say, "The mortgage comes every
month, but then I'll tell them the
truth, which is, I love this place. I
love what we do, but most of all, I love
who I get to do it with." And so,
there's so much I could say books about
these people. I'll simply say I love
you. I love you. And I love you. And I'm
glad I'm not going too far away. So to
all of you here, to the wonderful people
behind the scenes at Action News, and to
all of you out there, thank you for all
of
