It's a big day. Yeah, no trees. They're all gone.
It makes me want to just go inside.
I was just like pushing it out really hard.
Not sponsored.
They're just so good.
Oh, I see. I'm good.
God, dirt.
Hold on. I'm talking.
OK, we're back at the Hyper W Roundhouse
and big step today.
This is a big bag.
We are going from that doorframe
all the way over our open arched door
and then to that doorframe.
So, yeah, this will be our last
self-supporting arch that we do for the house.
Yeah. All right.
I think so.
So big day.
We're going to do it.
Super wet cement mix that'll go over this.
It's going to be awesome.
Are you two ready to do this wall?
Yep. All right.
Wait, not you.
OK.
Hey, you want to go get plants?
Yes, I do.
With me?
Uh huh.
On a date?
A plant date?
Yeah. Sure.
Let's go.
Well, at least we got tomato plants.
Yeah, no trees.
They're all gone.
We'll have to wait.
That's OK.
All right.
So we grabbed a few plants.
So we're up at the garden and we're going to
try to find a place for the strawberries and tomatoes.
So we do have some seeds in here.
I don't know what's going to actually come up.
This is all an experiment, but let's get them in the ground
and we'll just have to see what happens.
I am so excited to get back in the kitchen with you.
You all know how much I love baking bread and making pasta and all the things.
But this house has been keeping me super busy.
So today I'm excited because most of the work is already done for me.
Thanks to today's video sponsor, Wild Green.
Wild Green is the first bake from frozen subscription box.
You can customize it to your needs and choose things from sourdough bread
to artisanal pastries and fresh pasta.
They even have cookies.
Unfortunately, there is not always time to bake everything from scratch.
That's why I'm really excited to try Wild Green.
We're going to go make some bread, some fresh pasta
with the homemade cheese I just made this morning.
Now that the bread is in the oven, that has to cook for 25 minutes.
So I've already got my water boiling with salt in it.
So it's time to cook the pasta.
How easy is that?
I didn't have to dirty any dishes making pasta.
Now, one thing that is super nice about fresh pasta
is it just doesn't take very long to cook, only six to eight minutes.
So really, I should have put that bread in much earlier.
But here we are.
We might have to have our bread after we eat the pasta.
The only ingredients in this pasta,
semolina flour, wheat flour, egg and water in the bread,
wheat flour, salt and water.
That was it. Nice. Yeah.
So it's really clean, really healthy.
I'm excited about it.
OK, one thing we can do now is go ahead and make the sauce
while the pasta has four more minutes.
Shouldn't take too long to make the sauce.
We'll just make a little roux.
Let's add in some garlic and broth
and cream and the farmer's cheese.
So it should be really simple.
Did you know this is garlic from our garden?
I'm anxious to see if this cheese is going to melt.
I've never tried to melt it before.
It does still taste good.
Oh, it smells so good.
Does anybody want butter?
OK, I'm I'm impressed with the bread.
It's sourdough.
It came frozen and baked it in our tiny RV oven,
which if you have an RV oven, you know how hard it is to bake things.
And it's still like the outside is perfectly crispy.
The inside is nice and soft. It tastes really good.
Tastes like fresh baked bread.
Yeah. Nice.
Last thing is they did send us some cookies.
So, of course, we're going to bake cookies.
Now, when you order your first subscription box from Wild Grain,
everything in that box cooks in 25 minutes or less.
Cookies are almost done.
There were 16 minutes.
But look how fluffy this bread is.
And it's so crispy on the outside.
I can't stop eating it.
It's going to be a problem.
But if you would like to try Wild Grain,
you can go to wildgrain.com slash tiny shiny home.
You'll get $30 off your first subscription box
and free croissants for life.
That's the cookie timer.
Ta-da! Cookies.
Wild Grain.
Another thing I've been trying to work on over the past week or so
is getting loads of really good compost mulch mix
and covering the ground around Adelaide's dome.
We are supposed to be getting some rain this weekend.
So my next step is to take all that leftover material
and get it around the base of each of our trees on the Bermond Swale.
We have slightly entered fly season, and I don't know about you,
but I cannot stand the sound when they get close to my ears.
So most of the summer you'll see this because I can't handle the fly noise.
It just like it makes me want to just go inside and like
not ever be outside.
So that's not going to happen.
So let's prevent it.
Headphones also help.
So I don't know.
It might be like a me thing, but that sound just infuriates me.
So, all right.
I got most of the trees covered.
I still need to do the north side, but I just I couldn't do it anymore.
It's so hot and miserable.
But it's already time to start working on the house.
So I'm going to go sweat anyway.
Just a different kind.
Oh, hi.
Hey.
You want to try again?
Yeah.
Oh, hi.
Hi.
Hey, what do you think about finishing the hallway today?
Sounds like a plan.
Do you think we can do it?
Because the last few days we've only done two lousy bags.
Well, there are three short bags.
I think we can make it happen.
I think so.
Yeah.
We did have a couple long ones yesterday, but that one that went over the arch,
that kicked my butt.
I don't know what it was about it.
There was like so much fixing and adjusting and tamping and re-tamping
and moving and tamping, and it was so heavy.
Yeah. And also I was on mixed duty that day and our kids are like super strong.
That wore me out so much.
I was so tired at the end of the day.
But granted, there was only one of me.
Usually we have two people on mix, so it's a little easier.
I was just like pushing it out really hard.
I was getting it ready a lot fast.
Fast. I did it really fast.
Uh, hey, you want to get started?
So, yeah, so I'm going to show them what we're doing.
OK. You want to come with me?
No. No, you're stuck over there.
OK, guys, plan is this one over that arch,
this one and this one over this arch.
At least we get that done today.
Maybe we start going down here.
But the good news is I came out here earlier
and I got all our cleats screwed and nailed in so we don't have to wait on that.
So let's get going.
I did see you out here doing those cleats and it looked really hot.
Just a moment to appreciate popsicles.
Guys, it is like 91 degrees
and it's the start of summer and that means popsicle season.
So go to Costco, grab some popsicles and you're good to go.
Not sponsored? Not sponsored.
They're just so good.
Just a whole lot of butt shots everywhere.
Butts everywhere.
That's what natural building is. Butt shots.
I can't see your face.
All I see is your butt. All I see is my butt.
Hey, Jax.
I'm used to just tilting it.
Hey, Jax. Remember when you ran into the woo-woo?
Next bag?
Somebody needs to check the lum.
Lum. Plum.
Lum?
Check the lum.
We're really tired.
That's Lemon Day.
Yep. Nobody's.
Nobody wants to continue, but we have one more bag.
Chant it.
One more bag.
We should have a shirt that says one more bag.
Time to ponder the fields around me.
Well, there's nothing but the breeze and the great unknown.
Leave your worries and your suitcases.
All you don't need, nothing but you.
So don't throw your hopes down or wish it up.
It's your heart's needs I carry you.
Come and sail with me to the whole wide ocean.
But you don't have to dream because there's you.
So I'm out here this morning because it looks like
we have some rain in the forecast, and here's the thing.
When you work in the desert, you get really lazy about your stuff.
You just leave your stuff everywhere because it's dry all the time
and you don't really have to worry about it.
So when you see a significant amount of rain being scheduled in the forecast,
you know it's time to clean up.
So this morning we're going to pick up our things.
We're going to put them away, make sure all the stuff that shouldn't get wet won't.
I'm not going to bore you with that, but you are going to get to see the rain.
Well, the rain ended up coming in overnight.
We got about a half an inch, left some really nice puddles for us the next morning.
But by the afternoon, it had all dried out and we were ready to get back to work.
Oh, hi. Back from our earthbags.
We're finally on the wall.
Whoa, that bird is low. Good grief.
We're finally back on the wall
with the four billion cleats.
So we're just going to try to go each little section,
put the cleats in, do the bag and just go down as far as we can go.
It's a trap.
If you pet his belly, he'll attack you.
Done?
Yep.
It's the fastest and easiest.
The corner where the tamp is, can it not go down anymore?
Yeah, dirt.
Hold on, I'm talking.
So we've had a pretty productive day so far.
We've gone from there all the way over to there.
And we're going to do this one last bag because
the baby goats are getting hungry.
We got to hurry so Adelaide can go.
Take care. Let's go.
