3 Consigli Per Iniziare a PARLARE in Lingua italiana (Sub ITA)

Today I'll give you three tips to start speaking Italian right away and I'm sure they'll work because they worked with all my students but they also worked with me when, for example, I studied German or Portuguese or French. Before talking about today's three tips I'd like to ask you to think about children. It's probably very easy for those of you who are a parent or a grandfather or a grandmother. Think about very small children think about their energy, their strength because during the video and during the tips I'll give you thinking about children will help you understand what I'm saying. So, before we start, let's make an effort today and let's try to think about the children around us or about the children and the last time we got in touch with children. The first tip to start speaking Italian is to understand. Understand what is being said. Without understanding what is being said, it's impossible to speak. If I spoke another language, if I didn't speak Italian and I spoke an abstruse language, a strange language you wouldn't be able to understand me, so you wouldn't be able to answer me. So, in order to speak, the first step of the conversation is understanding. Understanding what is being said while you read or while you listen to someone is necessary to then speak. So, to answer someone. If you've been studying Italian for a while but you still can't understand much of what is being said there are two options. The first is that the material you've encountered or the conversation you've had was on a too difficult level. So, you've found someone who spoke in a too complex way. It can happen and there's nothing wrong with that. The second option is that you're not spending enough time listening. And here the metaphor of the child comes in handy. Think about how long it takes a child to listen to the people around him. How long does it take to listen to a language before starting to speak, before starting to say words. Let's say that the maximum for a language student would be to listen for a very long time. As always, when it comes to listening and understanding remember that studying is not studying. That is, to speak or to do grammar exercises it's very important to be at a certain point to concentrate and to make an effort to do that thing. While in the case of listening, we can listen continuously wherever we are. So, remember to increase the hours used to listen to something or someone speak. The second advice is to speak, speak, speak. And sometimes write. It will seem obvious to you but many of the people who write to me and tell me they have problems with the conversation they also tell me they don't spend time talking because for various reasons they feel they are not ready or they feel a kind of fear and so they never start talking or they start very late when in reality they would be ready much earlier. Remember that when I say speak, you don't need to make big speeches. For example, when you meet a new word or a new verb try to use that word right away or try to use that new verb right away. You don't need to say the things you want to say well and you don't need to be perfect. Here again the metaphor of the child helps us. When a child starts talking he can make all the mistakes he wants. Yesterday I saw a child who said cannellina to say candelina and this is the same thing we should do when we study languages. So when we study it is useless to look for perfection especially at the beginning especially when we want to start talking. In the case I find the verb to eat for the first time I will do some tests. I will say I eat pizza I eat pizza and then in the end we will get to the correct sentence This sentence production exercise is an exercise you can also do with writing. Voglio consigliarvi di migliorare. Ho diviso questo consiglio in due punti. Il primo l'ho chiamato difficoltà e il secondo l'ho chiamato fare schifo. E sono sicuro che entrambi i concetti vi piaceranno molto. Per quanto riguarda la difficoltà quando si studia una lingua è importante aumentare piano piano il livello di difficoltà. Non pensate per forza a una difficoltà maggiore nel materiale di studio. Non dobbiamo per forza andare a studiare delle parole complesse o dei verbi complessi. O per esempio non dobbiamo andare a studiare delle forme verbali che non useremo mai. Piuttosto serve pensare alle difficoltà come qualcosa che rende il nostro studio più difficile. Per esempio il tempo che passa dal momento in cui studiamo qualcosa al momento in cui proviamo a usare la cosa che abbiamo studiato. Quando io studio un verbo difficilmente ripeto quel verbo cinque minuti dopo perché è troppo facile ricordare quel verbo. Probabilmente ha senso ripeterlo un giorno dopo o tre giorni dopo. Quindi questo è un tipo di difficoltà che può aiutarvi a migliorare in lingua italiana e può aiutarvi a migliorare la vostra capacità di conversazione. Un'altra difficoltà che potete aggiungere è quella di mischiare gli argomenti che ripetete. Per esempio io conosco studenti che studiano o ripetono prima tutti i verbi poi tutti gli avverbi poi ripetono tutte le regole grammaticali poi ripetono tutti i modi di dire e questo modo diciamo a blocchi di ripetere gli argomenti è un livello di difficoltà molto basso. Quindi potete aumentare la difficoltà mischiando gli argomenti e iniziando a studiare prima un verbo poi un avverbio poi un modo di dire poi un nome. Quindi in questo modo riuscite a variare il contenuto che state studiando e quindi ad aumentare la difficoltà. Parlare è una difficoltà aggiuntiva perché richiede l'uso di tutte le vostre forze e di tutte le vostre parole per poter dire quello che volete dire ma richiede anche il vostro sforzo per poter capire quello che vi viene detto. Quindi ricordatevi che quando volete migliorare dovete cercare una difficoltà maggiore e sicuramente parlare è una di queste difficoltà. Parlare può essere difficile ma è anche fondamentale per iniziare a parlare e per poter migliorare. Parlare una lingua che stiamo imparando è difficile. Su questo non ci piove. Su questo non ci piove è un modo di dire per dire che siamo certi di questa cosa siamo sicuri che parlare è difficile. Però ripensando a quel bambino di cui abbiamo parlato finora vi chiederei di pensare a un'attività che spaventa il bambino solo perché è difficile. Quando siete con un bambino ditemi quando è che il bambino dice no io ho paura è troppo difficile non faccio una capriola sono troppo spaventato ho paura. Un bambino non si ferma davanti a nessuna difficoltà non gli importa di nulla o non le importa di nulla qualunque cosa ci sia da fare non importa quanto sia difficile lui o lei ci proverà proverà a fare quella cosa. E lo stesso dovremmo fare noi quando vogliamo parlare ma ci sentiamo spaventati ci sentiamo frenati perché sappiamo che stiamo facendo qualcosa di difficile. Il secondo punto per migliorare è fare schifo. Fare schifo è un'espressione della lingua italiana per dire che qualcosa non ci piace oppure per dire che qualcosa non è di un buon livello che fa schifo. È un'espressione molto informale quindi ricordate di usarla quando siete tra amici o con persone che conoscete molto bene. Per esempio potrei dire quel posto mi fa schifo non voglio più andarci. Oppure potrei dire faccio schifo a giocare a calcio giocate voi io farò il tifo per esempio. Oppure la pizza con l'ananas mi fa schifo. Fare schifo all'inizio è completamente normale e io non conosco nessuna persona e nessuno studente che al suo primo giorno parlasse bene e non facesse schifo. Questo è impossibile. Quindi il primo periodo o comunque il primo momento in cui iniziate a parlare o iniziate a usare un nuovo vocabolo o una nuova regola grammaticale è normale fare schifo è normale non essere bravi è normale fare degli errori non vi preoccupate. La cosa importante è ricordare il vostro approccio la vostra testa quando fate schifo. Sempre pensando al bambino mi è venuto in mente uno dei disegni che facevo quando ero piccolo e in realtà non sono migliorato tanto. Quando noi vediamo questi disegni che sono tipicamente i disegni di un bambino di 2, 3, 4 anni non gli diciamo questo disegno fa schifo ma gli diciamo che bello quel disegnino bravo! Così. Quindi se non diciamo qualcosa al bambino se non critichiamo il bambino non capisco perché dobbiamo criticare noi stessi quando cerchiamo di parlare per la prima volta quando cerchiamo di comunicare con qualcuno nella sua lingua madre non nella nostra lingua madre. Quindi ricordate di trattarvi un po' come quel bambino che tanti anni fa faceva i disegnini. Ovviamente non avreste voluto sentirvi dire che è schifo questo disegno è bruttissimo anzi, quando disegnavate qualcosa andavate subito dai vostri genitori per far vedere quel nuovo disegno. Quindi cercate di pensare un po' con la testa del bambino e meno con la testa dell'adulto.
