Margot, you are here right now.
You're in this most incredible moment of your career.
You're nominated for an Oscar for playing Tonya Hardy.
You're an A-Tonya.
What an achievement.
Where were you when you found out that you got nominated?
It was the most perfect scenario to find out
cos I was actually in Australia
and because of the time difference,
I think the announcements come through around 5am
but because in Australia that was like after midnight,
between midnight and 1am
and it was the night of the Australian premiere
so all my friends and family only just saw the movie.
So we were already out celebrating anyway
with like all my loved ones having a hell time
and then the nominations came through
and everyone just lost their minds.
It was great.
It's such a great movie.
Have you seen the film, Daniel?
I have seen the film.
Yeah, I'm just...
LAUGHTER
I'm more of a three billboards guy.
LAUGHTER
I saw it and I was just so proud to know Margot.
It was like a really special thing.
APPLAUSE
It is an incredible performance.
You actually brought the real Tonya Harding
as your guest to the Golden Globes.
Here you are here.
Was she a good date?
The best.
Really?
Oh my God, she was so fun to have there
I mean, Tonya anyway is very unapologetic about who she is
and that's kind of liberating sometimes
especially if you're at a fancy event
because she just was not afraid to go up to anyone
and say hi and get a picture.
She was like, oh, there's Meryl, I'm going to go say hi.
I was like...
LAUGHTER
No, sit down, sit down.
Or if she didn't know who people were at all
that was even more hilarious.
At one point she was like, oh, that's the lovely lady
who helped me in the photo line at the beginning
and she was like, hi, hi, waving
and I was like, that's Sharon Stone.
Sharon Stone is that lovely lady.
So she had no idea who she was.
It was great.
And people were equally excited to meet her, funnily enough.
They were like, that's the real Tonya Harding.
Oh, I bet, yeah.
For sure, she must be such a draw.
Now, in the film you do some really impressive ice skating.
It's really amazing.
I am the worst ice skater in the world.
I can't do it.
I've never let go of the side.
Are you a good ice skater, Donald?
I'm not...
No.
I've been...
LAUGHTER
I went...
I've been ice skating twice
and the first time I was 22 years old I was in New York.
You were in New York at the same time.
We were doing a play on Broadway at the same time.
Yes, just a few theatres away.
Yes, your theatre was more full than our theatre.
LAUGHTER
But everyone was saying, you have to be careful with your voice,
steam your voice, really look after yourself.
It was like an eight-month run. It was a long run.
I thought you meant for ice skating.
I was like, no, you don't really.
Sorry for the play.
You do not have to do that for ice skating, I hope.
But I went in and I was really looking after myself
and I went in and I was kind of getting the hang of it
and I thought I was doing pretty good.
And I slipped.
And as I went down, I went to stop myself
and I thought somebody could skate over my fingers
and chop them off.
Why does everyone think that?
So as I...
What do you mean, why does everyone think that?
Because it could happen.
Yeah, I think it's the mix of fingers...
..and very sharp blades.
That's what it is.
I think it's those two together...
Yeah.
..that make that happen.
Maybe I'm an optimist.
That had never occurred to me
until Sebastian said it one day on set
and I was like, well, now that's in my head, thanks.
Like...
Anyway, go on.
No, I just...
You broke the fall.
No, I didn't.
Oh.
As I was falling, I went, whoop, like that,
and landed on my coccyx.
Oh, no.
With my back straight,
and the impact went straight up into my brain
and I went blind.
Thank you, everybody.
But these two have become...
