Hey there everyone! My name is Jenna. Welcome or welcome back to the channel.
In today's video, we're going to be going vintage and antique shopping and if
you're familiar with my channel, you guys know that I love to get that high-end
designer look on a budget and one of the ways that I do that is I source just a
couple of antique curated pieces and then I mix those in with more affordable
decor to give my space the illusion that everything is very designer and high-end
but in reality it's just a couple of well-sourced pieces that are
strategically placed throughout the room. So for example, a coffee table is a big
one. I think the coffee table can make a really big impact in a space. Things like
little bowls or rugs or vases, pitchers, jugs, things like that. Those really help
to make an impact in a space. Also things like side tables or maybe a small
console table or a hutch. Things like that mixed in with more affordable pieces
could really elevate your space. So that's the kind of decor that we're
going to be sourcing today. Typically it is a little bit more pricey than like
what I'm used to spending but these are the pieces that really will help to
elevate the more budget-friendly pieces if that makes sense. So you only need a
couple in a space and it really does create such an impact. So we're gonna be
going to the Potato Barn today which is one of my favorites here in the Phoenix
area. There's three locations so we're gonna be going back a ton because it's
one of my new favorites. This is not sponsored. I just had such a good time
there and they had so much good stuff. So we're gonna do a little shop with me and
then we'll come back home and style all of my finds together. So I hope you guys
enjoy it and without further ado let's go vintage shopping. Okay so here we are
at Potato Barn and this is a store local to the Phoenix area and they have three
different locations here within Phoenix and majority of this video was at their
Mesa Gilbert location but I did go to the Scottsdale one as well and this
place is massive. What I love about this spot is that they have so many unique
furniture pieces especially coffee tables. I love this rustic coffee table
that was made out of these old antique doors. It had such a beautiful
combination of materials and I also noticed that they had some of my
favorite Chinese rice wine storage jars on the table for that rustic feel and I
also loved this wabi-sabi style coffee table with the simple lines and
distressed wood. It is pieces like this that would make such a statement in a
living space and give a room that laid-back casual feel with the lived-in
character on the wood. And speaking of wood with lived-in character they had so
many beautiful European breadboards here. I thought it was interesting because no
matter the size they were all priced at $95 which is pretty reasonable and you
all know that these are my favorite kitchen accessory to help add some warmth
and character to a kitchen. They're great for layering underneath serving
dishes or just propping up against a backsplash for that rustic layered feel
and they had so many to choose from here with a bunch of different shapes sizes
and patinas. I also spotted these gorgeous nightstands and I love that
they had that old weathered look to them with the coloring of the wood and I
thought that they were actually priced pretty decently for how large they were.
It's rare to find a nightstand that's aesthetic but still has a bunch of
hidden storage like this one does so I thought that these were a pretty good
deal. Another thing that I loved were these old iron chairs and these just
reminded me of a rustic European garden and I could totally see these with maybe
a round concrete table outside on a pea gravel patio just for that like charming
old-world feel or even just layering one of these in a cottage style garden bed
with some potted plants on top would be so pretty. So not only is there a ton of
unique large furniture pieces here but they also have a bunch of curated vintage
decor and I'm telling you guys I was sifting through this stuff for hours
because these are the finishing styling pieces that I like to invest in to really
help give my space character and personality. For example I have one of
these stone trays and I love how it looks styled on something like a wood
coffee table or a wood shelf just the contrast of that cool natural stone with
the warm wood just looks so good together and it's one of my favorite
vintage decor accents and they had a bunch of them here. Another one of my
vintage staples are these handle distressed wood bowls and I love to use
these as a styling piece on my shelves, countertops, or tables and they're great
for popping a small plant inside with a candle or some decorative beads and they
had a bunch of them here and I also love this pretty charcoal pot with the
handles as well and you know this thing is old when it has cobwebs inside and is
caked in dirt. Maybe this one would be better to use as outdoor decor maybe? I
also really loved this skinny coffee table and I'm loving the combo of that
subtle iron detail with the distressed wood right now. I just think that's so
pretty and unique and it just helps to give off that old-world charm. And
another furniture piece that I loved was this stunning display cabinet. I really
liked the gorgeous patina of the wood and the stunning shape of those legs on
the bottom. They added just the right amount of personality and lines and the
texture and tone of this wood was so good and I could see this as a pretty
linen cabinet and somewhere like a bathroom with some towels or maybe in a
dining room to display china and glassware with a pretty pothos or like a
hanging plant over the top. I just think that this is so beautiful and unique and
speaking of unique they had this old weathered balloon mold styled as decor
on this coffee table and I just thought it was so fun and like nothing I'd ever
seen before. It added a bunch of texture and I don't know how practical it would
be since it takes up a lot of space but I just thought it was so special and
different. Something else that I thought was funny was I saw this hand woven
linen pillow that was handmade in India and I actually had purchased the same
pillow cover last year on a sale online and it's one of my favorite layering
pillows. It has just a little bit of pattern but it still relates back to
that organic relaxed feel that I like to have in my spaces. They actually had a
bunch of really beautiful pillows here and they were a little bit spendy for me
personally but I liked this linen one with the subtle pattern that felt a
little bit Southwestern and sometimes it can be nice just to have a base of
neutral pillows that are more affordable and then have that one splurge pillow in
the front to really make a statement. Something like this gorgeous vintage rug
pillow. I loved the beautiful color on this one and how the pattern looked a
little bit floral. I just thought that it was really pretty and unique and another
styling staple in my home are my Indian wood water vases and a couple weeks ago
when I was at the Scottsdale location they had a bunch of them there and they
also had them at the Mesa location as well and I just loved the shape of these
and the beautiful warmth that the distressed wood gives to a space
especially with some stems popped in there. It just looks really sculptural
and effortless in my opinion. Another piece that I really loved was this
distressed wooden scoop and this would be so pretty maybe with some ear plants
or bowl filler styled inside or you could also use this to hold fruit on a
kitchen counter or maybe drape some pretty decorative glass beads inside
like these. I really loved the beautiful color on these and how they looked like
that old recycled sea glass. This distressed wood mirror was so gorgeous
and it would add a lot of texture and character to somewhere like a small
powder bathroom or maybe mixed into a gallery wall with some artwork and you
all know that I love my Mediterranean olive jars for that old-world European
charm and I spotted a couple of different ones here. They had the green
ones and then they also had these more neutral clay looking ones with the line
detail which I also thought were really pretty and then I also saw this stunning
distressed console table and I've been wanting to do a table similar to this on
our front patio maybe a little less southwestern and a little more European
but I really like the overall concept maybe with some Mediterranean plants and
some herbs and maybe some sculptural cacti put in there but I'll probably try
to source a table on Marketplace because we're working with a tight budget but I
thought this one would be really pretty. And you all know I love my rustic
charcoal pots so when I saw this lamp made out of a charcoal pot I was
obsessed. These guys were a little spendy at $295 but I did appreciate that they
were made out of a vintage pot and they were really large so they would make a
gorgeous statement in a space but something that I thought was super
reasonably priced were these large vintage spoons and I think these would
be really cool to maybe hang on a kitchen wall to display for maybe some
added warmth and texture or just to style in a larger utensil crock for that
vintage-y feel. And I also loved this patchwork leather pouf. I thought that
the distressing on the leather was beautiful and a pair of these would look
stunning in front of a fireplace or maybe popped underneath a console table
for some extra seating when you need it just to pop around maybe a coffee table
when you have some people over for a game night and then they just look
pretty styled underneath the console table. I don't know I just thought that
these were really unique and pretty. Another styling staple for me are these
handled wood bowls and again distressed wood just adds so much character to a
space and these are great for displaying small plants in or honestly just styling
by themselves on a shelf for some added texture and warmth. They also had some
distressed elmwood skinny benches here too and most of them are on the smaller
side but these could be great for styling somewhere like on the edge of a
bed or the back of a sofa or in a hallway where you don't have a ton of
floor space but you still want something to add some interest and warmth. Another
piece that I thought was a good deal were these limestone bowls and I loved
the earthy natural look of them and these could be cute for holding jewelry
or it could be used as a little catch-all in an entryway for keys or you
could just use it with a little cloth inside and some parchment paper to serve
things like desserts at a party. I also loved this distressed wooden coffee
table. It kind of had a slight bohemian look to it which I really liked and I
thought that $495 was a decent price for a piece with so much character. I just
loved all of the hand-carved details on the sides and the weathered look of the
top of it. They also had these little distressed bleached wooden risers which
are super cute to use as plant stands. The only thing is you want to make sure
that you get more of a flat one because some of them can have kind of a curved
surface to them with the distressing and that makes it hard to style things on
top of them because they don't sit flat but I did notice that they had some with
more of a flat surface which is good and like I said I was here picking out
treasures for hours so now it is time to head back home and style our finds. Okay
so we are now back home and it's time to style some of the finds that I found and
I did want to mention too that it was the Memorial Day sale when I went so it
was 10% off on the day that I went and then they do bump it up to 20%. I believe
it was Friday of Memorial Day weekend. I went on Wednesday I think because we
were going out of town for Memorial Day weekend unfortunately so I was happy to
still get a little discount though. So the first thing that I spotted was this
stunning charcoal bowl and I thought this was so beautiful. You guys know we
see the charcoal vases all over the place. They're so beautiful for styling
for popping stems in or for using as a little utensil crock but I had never
seen a bowl before which is why I got so excited. I felt like it was really unique.
They only had three there at the one that I went to. This was at the Mesa
location and they had like a really large one and then they had a medium one
and they had a small one. This is the medium sized one. It was $75 which I
felt like was pretty reasonable considering those charcoal pops go for
like $200 plus on designer sites. Also then I got 10% off of that but what I
actually got this for was to use on our future shelves that we're gonna have in
our living room because right now we don't have anything in there but we're
planning to put shelves in those arched bookcases and they are really large
openings so I'm gonna need some more substantial decor to match the scale and
not look too tchotchke like. Like I'm going to need some bigger substantial
pieces to help hold the weight down if that makes sense. So I figured that this
was a really beautiful piece and what is actually gonna be great about it is the
inside is like a little bit distressed and kind of like a little bit rougher so
I figured this would be perfect to pop some plants in. So what I think I'm gonna
do just for now is I'll pop a little pothos in there that I have. I actually
got this a while back at Lowe's on the clearance rack and I just cut off the
unhealthy leaves and it started to thrive so I love the way that this
drapes down. Pothos by the way are some of the easiest houseplants to take care
of if you're a beginner so they usually have them at Lowe's and Home Depot and
they're pretty reasonable so I'm just gonna pop that in there and then it's
just gonna trail down and I love the look of that. So I think this eventually
on a shelf in the living room is going to be so beautiful. I think to protect
this bowl I'm just gonna leave them in their planter so that way I can pop them
in and out to easily water them. I can take them to the sink and water them
there and then once they drain I can pop it back in. So that's kind of the plan
eventually to put this on those shelves but it'll look really pretty also styled
on maybe like a console table or some of our other shelves or like a dresser
or a coffee table something like that so definitely a really good find on this
one. Okay so this next piece is not actually from the potato barn it's just
a vintage piece that I kind of wanted to throw in here because it was a really
good deal. So if you guys have been following for a while you know that we
redid our powder bathroom. We gave it this really beautiful organic kind of
Spanish Mediterranean villa feel which I love and so I've been looking for a
little mini rug to place right by the sink just to help kind of warm it up a
little bit and break up all that tile and be a comfortable place for when
you're washing your hands. So I had seen some really beautiful authentic vintage
rugs here at designer stores. They had these beautiful vintage rugs. They were
the perfect size. I loved the pattern on them but unfortunately the price tag was
just a little bit too much for me. They were $175 for like this
little tiny rug and I just couldn't do it and I know that's like honestly pretty
normal for that size of a vintage rug. I did see some at the potato barn that
were very similar for a similar price point so I think that's just what they
go for but I decided to just do a little searching on Etsy and I found this rug
shop in Turkey and I believe I got this guy for like 40 bucks and it is so
beautiful. I mean look at the coloring on this. This is so stunning. I don't know if
you're just buying them directly from the supplier and that's why they're
cheaper. I'm not really sure why there was such a price difference between the
designer ones here and the ones that I bought off of Etsy but I'll take it
because it's the same exact size and it looks so similar. I love this fringe
detail here on the end and something that I'm just gonna do with this is put
some little painters tape on the back and that'll help it stick to the floor
so it doesn't like move around. I think that this is just the perfect little
addition to that powder bathroom. It helps make it feel a little bit more
homey, a little bit more cozy and it just adds that vintage element in there and I
love it so much that we were able to find this for only 40 bucks so I will
link the guys Etsy shop below because I was really impressed with them. Okay so
it wouldn't be a vintage decor haul if I didn't bring home some sort of handled
vase and normally I'm not a color gal. Normally I just like them to be plain
and neutral but when I saw this I was like no that is going home with me. It is
this beautiful light blue kind of like faux French confit pot I believe that's
how you say it. So this is actually if you can believe it I don't think an
antique. This is a replica but you would never know because this clay portion
just looks to be so beautifully distressed and the glaze looks chippy
and worn and there's little chips on the handles here so I do feel like this
looks very realistic even though it's not a true antique piece because I did
find this online actually so they do sell this online for pretty reasonable I
think it's like under $60 and the reason that I thought that this was reasonable
I bought this one for 50 bucks was because it looks like those really
expensive French confit pots I believe that's how you say it and those with the
beautiful glaze on the top and then the rustic clay on the bottom those can go
for like three four five hundred dollars so the fact that this looked super
similar to that and was only 50 bucks I thought was such a good deal and I love
the light blue on it I feel like it just gives this little nod to like the
French countryside and it's a nice subtle pop of color and another thing
that I really liked about this is that the Trader Joe's basil fits in here
perfectly so it looks like it's planted when you just pop it on top but it's
really nice because you can take it to the sink and then water it but it looks
like a really pretty countertop herb garden in a kitchen so that's what I'm
going to use this for for now it also look really beautiful with some rustic
stems styled inside I will link this down below I'm sure because you know it
does seem to be handmade I don't think that there's a ton available so
hopefully they don't sell out super fast but I did feel like this was a good deal
and looked a lot more expensive than it was okay so this next piece was kind of
a little bit of a splurge but I felt like it was so justified when I was
going through all of the decor at the potato barn they had a lot of really
beautiful like architectural hangers so they had some smaller ones I think those
were in the $20 price range I don't know if those were authentic or if those
were replicas but those would be cute you know if you had a little small entry
area where you wanted to install some hooks something that was a little bit
different you know some character those would be really pretty they also had
some larger size ones as well there were some that were $45 I believe and those
were really pretty I actually have a similar one that I got in the past but
I've always been looking for a larger size because scale really matters when
you're buying things like that you don't want to get something too tiny it
just depends on your wall size and I feel like a lot of our wall sizes in
this house are a little bit larger so I wanted to get something more substantial
so I found this beautiful architectural salvage coat hanger so these are made in
India and I'm not really sure but from my understanding I believe they are from
like architecturally salvaged pieces so like molding from buildings and stuff
and then they put these hooks in them and they just make for these really
beautiful rustic and interesting wall hook displays and this within itself is
like an art piece to me I mean all of this beautiful hand-carved detail and
you can see the wood itself is distressed so it looks really old and
that's a hard thing to replicate like if you're buying something new I love the
very subtle almost floral detail that this has I think that that was really
unique I love the tone of the wood how it's not too light not too dark not too
gray not too warm it's like a perfect in the middle color so it'll go with a
lot of our spaces I'm still deciding on where I want to put this there is a spot
right in our kitchen where we have this wall there is an outlet on the wall so
it's like my only kind of like thing that might be holding me back from
putting it there but it's the perfect size for that wall and maybe this was
like an art piece hanging above it it might look kind of nice so let me know
in the comments if you think it's weird that outlet there this could also go in
a bathroom to hang some towels it could go in an entryway just to hang like a
person keys it also could go in our hallway outside of our guest bedroom
just for some extra storage so I don't know let me know what you guys think or
where this would go best obviously a bathroom would be good but we're not
close to redoing any of our bathrooms right now and I really want to install
it because it's so pretty so maybe what I'll do for now is just install it on
that wall and then worst case we don't use it or it's awkward and I'll just
fill the holes it's like a very simple fix but I just thought that this was so
pretty and so unique it just one of those pieces that will really help to
elevate my space and give it character okay so something that I saw a lot of at
the potato barn that I was so excited to see were wooden distressed bowls and I
got this one for $25 you guys like that is such a good deal that's like a home
goods price and this is very clearly an old distressed bowl that's authentically
vintage and it has that real-life patina on it which I just think is so beautiful
like that's why I go to these stores is to get these pieces with that true
authentic patina I love these wooden bowls for styling I have a couple
already but I figured you can't have too many and I figured you could even stack
some together to add a really pretty layered look I love to style like some
decorative beads in these that looks really beautiful on something like a
stack of books on shelves you can also use these to store fruit like maybe some
limes on a table or put a pretty seasonal bowl filler in here honestly
these are so versatile and distressed wood is honestly one of my favorites to
incorporate into my decorating because it just adds this really beautiful warmth
and texture to a space and it gives it that lived-in feel which I love so
there's so many ways that you can use these and for 25 bucks I thought it was
such a good deal alright everyone that about wraps up this video I hope you
