Hey guys, Will here with WTF Car Reviews. We got a pretty cool one here today. We're
going to be reviewing this beautiful Jaguar F-Type R Supercharged. And huge
thanks to Anthony, Manny, and the rest of the management and staff here at
Infiniti of Clearwater for making this review possible.
I'll leave a link to our inventory below. It's very impressive and if you're
looking for a new or used vehicle in the Tampa-St. Petersburg Clearwater
area, I would definitely recommend checking these guys out
and ask for Anthony. And for those of you guys who don't know, the F-Type has been
Jaguar's two-door, two-seater sports car since 2014.
That's when the first model year was released. It kind of took over the XF
platform, which was Jaguar's previous two-door sports car. The XF had rear
seats, basically useless, kind of like the old Porsche 911s.
Really didn't have much usable backseat space. So when they redesigned
their two-door sports car idea, they just made the F-Type a two-seater car.
But anyway, so this is a 2014 Jaguar F-Type R. The first year that the F-Type
was introduced and our variant is going to have a
supercharged 5-liter V8. Back in 2014, this motor made 550
horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, which was bumped up to 516 for the torque
for the new generation's new facelifted Jaguar F-Types.
But still very similar vehicle. The new generation
F-Types are available with optional all-wheel drive as well as a hard top
non-convertible. But here for the rear-wheel drive variant with these
really sticky 295 tires, which we'll check out in one minute, you can still
expect 0-60 between three and a half and four seconds
depending on your traction. But as far as the front end styling,
again, very beautiful. We're not going to have that much airflow
for this radiator and intercooler, but as far as the front end still,
that R badge up front really distinguishing red contrast around your
Jaguar logo. I'm really digging the styling. I just
wish we had a little bit more airflow for this 5-liter supercharged engine,
which is probably going to get pretty, pretty hot. These little side skirts,
they're not even that functional. We have a small amount of air opening for them,
but really not a whole lot. So as far as airflow, it would be
interesting to see how this vehicle handles like really hot days with some
really aggressive driving. Nevertheless, we still get heat
extractors on the roof as well as the sides.
So as far as like the hot air building up in the engine bay,
you shouldn't be too worried about it because this vehicle does have
functional heat extractors. The headlights are going to be full LED
labeled Jaguar LED technology on top of them. For the high and low beam,
liking the black contrast for the headlight housing, it really fits in
very nicely and flushly with this black paint. Really premium front end styling.
I'm also a huge fan of the updated 2020 plus
model year styling with the facelift, but here for the original
2014 Jaguar F-Type, really loving the front end styling.
Functional parking sensors, it's going to help you protect this vehicle when
parking. As far as the wheel and tire setup though,
I'm loving these black rims. They're going to have these little
lug patterns outside of them. Pretty interesting design. These beautiful black
rims are 20 inches wrapped in 255-35 ZR20 Pirelli PZero
summer performance tires. Some of the stickier summer performance tires in the
business. Jaguar name right outside. This would
really pop more if this car had like a white exterior
paint color. The mirrors have an LED turn signal on them. The
glass fills up the frame very well. Blind spot monitoring on the glass.
This right interior is also gorgeous. We'll check all that out in one second.
And this convertible top has a windscreen so even if you're
driving at high speeds in the highway with the top down,
you're not going to have to be killed with the buffering of the windows. The
door handles also, they cave in so it's very nice to open
with these Jaguar door handles and to lock the door you simply push them right
back into place. And with the key in my pocket, I just have
to press this button, opens right up and I can step into the
2014 Jaguar F-Type. I'm really liking the side profile too with those fixed
rocker panels. It's not going to be a tacky additional
little side skirt. That's all part of the chassis and frame of this vehicle. The
rear wheel and tire setup also really impressive.
Here we're going to have these 20 inch rims wrapped in 295
30 ZR20 Pirelli PZero summer tires. We'll see how it does when it comes to
putting the power to the ground. Single piston brake caliper, that's a
minus. I would expect to have at least a multiple piston for the rear
of this pretty expensive sports car especially with the supercharged 5 liter
engine. Rear styling, I love those rear
taillights. They flare out perfectly making it really appear that this
vehicle has some really thick hips. Definitely a very
aggressive design for the rear end. R-badging quad exhaust tips. We'll take
a squat back here, start this 5 liter supercharged V8 up and
hear how she sounds.
Alright guys, that was of course the sound of the supercharged 5 liter V8
sold by Jaguar for this F-Type to open up the hood. Similar to the
Corvette, it opens up from this direction and here you have it.
Your 5 liter supercharged V8, you get strut tower braces
between of course your strut towers and this frame itself.
This motor makes 550 horsepower, 502 pound-feet of torque.
Enough to get this sports car to 60 between three and a half and four
seconds depending on your traction. Those heat
extractors as we mentioned are completely functional.
Going to help cool off this massive really powerful
5 liter supercharged V8. We'll shut this thing up
but as far as the interior on this Jaguar F-Type, let's take a step right
here and check it out. So the door panel is
going to be all red stitched leather. Very high quality look.
Feels very soft and it's holding up fantastically. Auto on touch for the
mirrors, adjustable windows. This grab handle, pretty interesting
plastic design. You don't see that very often but it really fits in. You don't
really notice it on the door panel. The seats are adjusted on the door panel too.
Three-person memory. You can recline, slide, lift and drop the
Really like the aluminum trim surrounding it and
this premium audio system sounds absolutely fantastic. It's going to be a
Meridian sound system. Two speakers on the door panel. Our nameplate is
going to be outlined in aluminum. Really beautiful seats too. Look at these
seats. Gorgeous red leather. They're going to be very supportive. The seats are also
perforated, heated and ventilated. Jaguar nameplate up top.
Really liking this high quality seating. Everything about it just looks
very premium and unique. Stepping inside we can really check out the interior.
Let's pick up this roof so we're not going to be killed with too much glare.
The process pretty quick. Roof comes up, closes us away from the ridiculous
amount of sunlight and the roof even latches itself. Really, really premium
feature. We can lift these windows up. They're not going to be dual pane
unfortunately. Kind of what we expect with a vehicle in this segment but not
the biggest deal. We can turn this air down by a couple so you guys can hear a
little bit better. The interior is super impressive. That red leather is
going to continue for the dashboard. Dashboard is going to be stitched up top
here too. Soft touch everywhere with more of that red leather. This grab
handle is also leather wrapped. Such a premium looking interior. Leather for
the area for your knee will often hit. Steering wheel super thick. Great
bolstering notches. Metal aluminum shifters. The steering wheel controls
control this little heads up screen. You can do so by pressing these buttons and
you can adjust between AM, FM and that's about it. So there's not really that
much of adjustability but you can adjust between AM, FM, voice commands and call
settings. The horn is going to be rubberized with a Jaguar nameplate.
Aluminum surrounding everything on the steering wheel. R badging underneath as
far as the horn itself. Really aggressive sounding horn people will definitely be
getting out of your way. Heated steering wheel, limiter, cancel and the cruise
control settings. The stocks for the turn signals. Pretty satisfying click. Not the
biggest deal. It's not what you buy this vehicle for. Automatic headlights will
put them into their automatic function. Rain sensing wipers to be expected. The
gauges go to 220 miles per hour. It's listed at 210 but there's an additional
notch beneath. I don't think this car is capable of going that fast but it's still
nice to have a pretty high reading speedometer. The tach goes to about 6600
RPM. Pretty high rev high revving supercharged V8 and it sounds absolutely
ridiculous. It's unfortunate we have a 4000 RPM rev limiter but just listen to
this thing. Sounds absolutely ridiculous guys. One of the best sounding motors in
the business. These shifters of course control your ZF 8-speed automatic
transmission. R badging right above your infotainment display and as far as
infotainment this is a 2014 vehicle. I know the air vents are probably blowing
into the microphone and I apologize but the infotainment screen is really high
resolution. Very responsive. It's better than a lot of new vehicles on the road
today. Super high response. Remember this car is eight years old. Almost 10 year
old car and it's this high tech holding up extremely extremely well. Jaguar
doesn't really have the best reputation when it comes to longevity. Back when I
was like 18 years old I actually bought a 2003 Jaguar S-Type with a V8 engine. It
was a really cheap car. It was like $3,400. I bought it for cash and it gave me over
a year of driving. I put over 20,000 miles on that car. So I've always had a
special appreciation and respect for Jaguar as a whole. They make some really
nice cars and if you can maintain them, if you find somebody that knows how to
work on the cars, they can really last you a very very long time. Like look at
the interior. This vehicle looks like it's brand new. This car is almost 10
years old. It's ridiculous. Automatic climate as we mentioned. Heated and
cooled seats. They're not going to be right here. You have to go through the
infotainment to set that up. Engine start stop is going to be in the center area.
The gear selector controls your 8-speed transmission. As far as the backup
camera, really high resolution. We have 360 sensors too. It's going to be right
here. They're not going to be labeled. There we go. 360 sensing. Way ahead of its
time guys. The cameras are really high resolution. You get guidance lines and
trajectory. I'm really loving this car. To put it back into park, you just press
this button up top. We have additional manual shift controls. You just put the
car into drive, slap it to the left. In the proper directions, you upshift and
downshift. Put it back into park. You simply press the button. To the left of the
steering wheel, we have our drive mode select. Here we have snow mode. By
pressing forward, we have snow mode. We also have dynamic mode. When you're
not in rain, ice or snow mode, you're going to be in normal mode. You can
push back and you're going to be put into dynamic. It's all going to be
confirmed through your little heads up screen up top. Behind it, we have our
electronic parking brake. Traction control, which you can disable. We're not
going to disable it for the purpose of this review. Exhaust, you can make it
loud or quiet with this button. Auto start stop, which you can also disable
and your self-deploying spoilers. Right now, it's hidden away. You press this
button, the spoiler pops right out. Press one more time and the spoiler's gone.
Pretty cool. Overall, this is your convertible top button, volume
adjustments, pretty convenient spot for a passenger, even though the scrap
handle might get a little bit in the way. You press this button and it exposes
two cup holders with a small little pass-through. They're going to be
aluminum on the bottom, kind of premium look. You don't see that very often.
The armrest, pretty soft armrest, too, and you open it up. Decent amount of
space. I'd say you fit maybe four or five cans of 12-ounce cans. Decent
amount of space. Line with felt, two USB ports, and a SIM card 12-volt that's
in there as well. The glove box, you press this button on the dashboard and
it pops right down. Line with felt, massive. You fit in 20, 25 license
plates with no problem whatsoever. Really spacious vehicle. Such a premium
interior. Three garage settings on your frameless mirror. Really impressive.
You have leather stitching for this upper portion of here, too. I'm blown
away with this interior. This is one of my favorite cars when it comes to
luxury and performance that I've reviewed in this channel, par none.
Really impressive car, guys. Let's check out the trunk real quick and then
take this car out for a drive. All right, guys. To step into this trunk,
you got to press this button for the trunk release. It's going to be
hydraulically assisted. Even though it's a convertible, you get a decent
amount of space. It caves in very deep. I don't think you're going to fit any
luggage, suitcases, or golf bags in here, but as far as grocery bags, you
have more than enough overall space. That's not why you buy this car. You
don't buy it because of the trunk space. You buy these cars because of their
excellent, excellent performance. Speaking of that, let's take this F-Type
R Jaguar out for a drive. All right, guys. Now, we've just about seen
everything we need to see with the inside and outside of this Jaguar F-Type
R supercharged five liter V8. Let's take it out for a drive. The first
thing I notice is the steering feels very well on center. Jaguar, the Jaguar
that I own, had some of the sloppiest steering that you can ever imagine. It
was like a 70s Cadillac. You could turn probably a good three inches before the
wheel started to respond. This isn't the case stepping out of the M3 or the M4
that we just reviewed in this channel. The steering here is almost just as
sharp and direct. The M4 steering is incredible. This isn't quite as good,
but it is right up there. As soon as we get the chance, we'll step out onto this
multiple lane highway and see a little acceleration run. Right here, second gear.
Wow, guys. This thing can really fly. This is a very, very fast car. It just
takes off. I can definitely see zero to 60 happening in the mid to high three
second range if you get a good launch off the line. Just cruising along. We're
in dynamic mode, so the exhaust is going to be pretty loud, just rolling around
1,200 RPM. You hear a little bit of exhaust noise. Not the most. It's not
going to be anything unbearable. Just daily acceleration right here. Really
impressive car, guys. We can activate these paddles too.
Whoa.
I think this car should escape for itself. It is really, really fast.
All right, guys. Throwing it in right here. Steering feels super on center. The handling is
very flat, really composed through the wheel. Very low blind spots and leaning into it.
Good God, this thing is fast. Oh, my gosh.
All right, guys. Stepping out into this highway, we'll merge on second gear.
Wow. Yeah, this thing can really get up and go very, very quickly. Just cruising on the
multiple lane highway. We'll throw it into eighth gear, overdrive, 55 miles per hour,
like 1,300 RPM. We hear a little bit of road and wind noise. Most rag tops aren't going to
be the most isolated from the road. But eighth gear, uphill, good torque. We're accelerating
basically at zero throttle. Really, really impressive car. It's a beast. It's a luxurious
beast. Sounds insane. Insane. One of the best sounding vehicles on the road.
Expansion. Boom. So the concrete pavement, you hear the difference clearly. The road noise is
going to be pretty apparent in this Jaguar F-Type. But the wind noise, not too bad,
even though this vehicle has a rag top. And rag tops don't usually have the best wind noise.
Thrown in right here, steering feels fantastic in dynamic mode.
It looks like we're clear. One more.
All right, guys, that's about it. We don't have to push it a whole lot farther than that. I hope
you get the point. We'll take it out of the loud exhaust mode, throw it into just regular comfort
mode, normal mode. And the steering gets noticeably lighter, much lighter on center.
And when you turn the wheel itself, it's still going to be super direct, though. Really,
really impressive steering. I think we need to be this lane, actually. But yeah, the steering
lightens up significantly in the regular normal mode. The dynamic stiffens up the steering
noticeably, but not to the point where it's annoyingly heavy. It's still a lighter steering
than the M3, M4 that we reviewed. And this engine start stop button, kind of annoying.
So we'll turn it off for the purpose of this review. You can hear that V8 sounds glorious.
Other than that, though, unbelievable car. This could easily be like all around my favorite car,
like on the road today. You have unbelievable performance,
unbelievable performance. It looks so beautiful, especially the new post facelifted F-Types.
They are genuinely one of my favorite cars on the road. If I had the money,
this would 100% be a car that I'll be looking to get. So for you guys, as viewers, if you're
if you have the money, if you have over $100,000 to spend on a ridiculously fast,
unbelievably comfortable and luxurious sports car, I would 100% recommend checking out the
Jaguar F-Type. This is 100% one of the most impressive vehicles in the segment.
Other than that, though, huge thank you to Anthony and Manny here at Infinity of Clearwater
