Leaving the buccaneer's life behind for good, Captain Peter Blood (Louis Hayward) has returned to the West Indies to resume his medical practice and live out his life in peace and quiet. Yet, on the eve of his marriage to Dona Isabela (Patricia Medina), Blood is accused in the raid on the port of Cartegena and, with his fiancée, is placed on board a ship commanded by Captain Hilary Evans (John Sutton) and sent to Europe to be tried for piracy. But once his former crewmen hear the news, they commandeer Evans' ship and hoist the Jolly Roger before setting out to find the real thieves, stop their next assault, and clear Captain Blood's good name.
