Another peaceful winter day in Melbourne ❄️ Woke up to the sound of the heater humming, watered my indoor plants, and embraced the quiet rhythm of the day. For lunch, I made a creamy mushroom and bacon fettuccine—simple, hearty, and comforting. Our new Haier washer-dryer combo was delivered (finally!), and I couldn't wait to set it up. To wrap up the afternoon, I baked a vanilla cake and enjoyed it with a warm cup of tea.
Part aesthetic silence, part gentle narration. Slow living, real moments, and winter comforts 🌿✨

The heating needs to be on every single morning now because it's starting to be
freezing and let me show you my new nails. My nail lady is amazing. The plain
ones look like water drops with a sparkle to it and these ones she's
painted a goldfish with watercolors. Can you see the amount of details? It's
amazing isn't it? Another one on this finger with a bit of a water bubble next
to it. Today's lunch is a mushroom and bacon creamy fettuccine. For ingredients
we've got fettuccine pasta noodles, sliced mushrooms, a pack of bacon, thickened
cream, a whole brown onion and a very cute tiny bottle of truffle oil. Step one
is to boil the water for pasta with a very generous pinch of salt. Once the
water is boiled I'll be adding the pasta noodle in and that cooks for about 12
minutes and in the meantime we can start to cook the bacon and mushroom
and the creamy sauce with it. It should be a very simple but delicious meal.
Oh look at that, look how it glides.
Do you guys want a drink or anything? Some water? No, we're fine.
Oh fancy. Are you gonna be okay? Look at this, look at the new tray.
Scissors good? Yeah. Auto and then what? Start? Is that start? Starting? How long is auto I wonder? It's nice.
Quiet isn't it? We're doing some baking today, my version of baking at least. Because my
baking skill is so poor and I fail every time even I thought I followed the
recipe so I don't know where it went wrong. It just doesn't work for some
reason. To satisfy my baking desire I now go for the cake mixings I get from
supermarket and they work a hundred percent of the time because technically
everything is done for you in a packet. What we need for this particular mixing
packet is the packet of cake mixing, 2 eggs, 3 thirds cup of milk, 60 grams of
butter which we will soften in the microwave very soon and just a baking
pan. And for icing on the cake we'll be using 20 mils of milk and 40 grams of
softened butter. We'll be making the icing a bit later just before we apply
it to the baked cake otherwise it kind of hardens up. Something I learned from
experience. So in the packaging there's just a bag of cake mixing and a bag of
icing mixing. We'll be using this one first. It says I need an electric beater
which I don't have because if you have an electric beater that means you're
good at baking. We don't have that. So I'll just be manually mixing the
ingredients which from my experience is very easy anyway. I'll just be adding
everything to the mixing bowl. The oven's being preheated to 180 degrees.
