This clock arrived this morning. . The Potsdamer Gong is a two-string chiming mechanism tuned to operate a bell barrel, but only at the half-hour mark. On the hour, it only chimes three notes. The gong block is a typical Westminster block, which fortunately has the exact same notes as those of the Garisonskirche in Potsdam, where the bells originate. The melody is from a German patriotic song "Üb Immer Treu Und Redlichkeit". These clocks were made in the 1930s and were never sold outside of Germany. The Hitker was inaugurated in Potsdam and this clock was sold to commemorate that event.
