Continued to bring joy to those who watch her.
She's the best player in women's tennis at the moment, and rightfully so.
I think we all felt like it was a very natural thing to do.
If she wouldn't start playing tennis before me,
I don't think I would play that well this fast.
The queen of Bogota for the third time.
Number one seed Jessica Pegula, who has lost in the semifinals
here the past two years.
Now with her eighth appearance at this WTA 500 event,
she's into her first final.
Perseverance has been the word, and she is hunting the trophy
here in Charleston.
Jessica Pegula keeps her red hot form going in 2025.
It's turning into some year for her.
A champion in Charleston.
Another title goes to Pegula.
It is the first on the clay courts for her
on the Holodzic WTA tour.
My husband, I have my three dogs here, so he's been dog watching a lot.
One of the dogs, very cute, very cute.
Dog is taking a picture with a trophy.
Very, very cute.
Everybody wants a picture.
And that, I'm sure, will be one that goes on the mantelpiece.
That is a brilliant moment.
Coco Golf rediscovered some form in Madrid,
falling only to the world's number one in the final
following a period of real inconsistency.
Her Roman record is more than respectable.
Having twice made the final four, I think we all felt like
it was a very natural thing to do.
The logo is sick and I think it's so cool and I'm just excited to wear it.
It's a comeback win for Coco Golf, who advances to round three in Rome.
Really entertaining match.
And she was pushed hard by the 18 year old Canadian.
Sound like they enjoyed themselves out there and
a good test for Coco Golf as she begins her quest in the Italian capital.
Well, Erika Andreeva has made steady progress this past 12 months,
including a win over her sister Mira in Wuhan late last year.
And here comes Mira Andreeva.
And what a 2025 so far for her.
Two titles already, both 1000 events as well.
Goodness me, what a first match of the day we have here.
Mira Andreeva up against Erika Andreeva.
The sisters meet again.
There will be no comeback though for Mira Andreeva.
It's an early break for sister Erika.
Certainly struggling out there, Erika.
Well, no, it's been called in.
So the first set goes to Mira Andreeva.
I think this might be it.
Just heard the umpire asking Erika Andreeva whether she wants to retire.
I'm sure I heard a yes.
Let's wait and see.
It has been coming.
Erika Andreeva has really been struggling.
And here is the confirmation.
And one suspects the embrace as well between the sisters.
That is such a shame.
It was a match that
we all had circled as the one to watch this week.
But the injury to the right knee
to Erika Andreeva has denied us a second meeting to say,
but it's a real shame.
Sister leads the applause as she heads off.
Yeah, honestly, I don't think
if she wouldn't start playing tennis before me,
I don't think I would play that well this fast because
she started playing some tournaments that after I didn't have to.
And she kind of showed me the way.
And because of her, I kind of also it was easier for me
to to start to play bigger tournaments right away.
So, of course, if she wouldn't be there, I'm not sure
I would be playing this tournament this year.
A third consecutive quarterfinal appearance at the Italian Open
for Xiong Xinwen, who so far has progressed through the draw
without dropping a set.
Irina Sabalenka has extended her winning run to nine matches,
her longest ever on clay.
The top seed has been tested at times over the last few days.
That remains an almost unstoppable force.
It is a matchup that historically very much favors Irina Sabalenka.
Are we going to get a different outcome here?
And at the second time, she's taken a set off Irina Sabalenka
at the seventh time of asking Xiong Xinwen defeats
the current world number one
and reaches the semifinals in the Italian capital.
That is up there with one of the best performances
Xiong Xinwen has been able to produce this year, probably the best so far.
It was almost flawless against the player who has just won nine matches in a row.
Fourth seed and former Wimbledon champion
who won the last six games in a bruising battle
with the Brazilian Beatrice Haddad Schmeier.
And Elena Rebacaner has not won a title surprisingly in 2025.
This, in fact, is her first final in over a year.
But she looks somewhat back to her best.
So two hours and 13 minutes.
Sensational third set display.
So first title in over a year for Elena Rebacaner,
the former world number three, getting the better of Ludmilla Samsonova
for the second straight time.
What a wonderful third set performance that was.
It gives Rebacaner a ninth career title.
It sees her at number eight on the live WTA race.
And opponents for the rest of the 2025 season
will be very fearful.
Of the 2022 Wimbledon champion.
That was something special.
And she celebrates with coach David Sanguinetti a first title in the bag
for these two.
Thank you to the city of Strasbourg and everyone who made this tournament
possible.
Ball kids and everyone.
And of course, spectators.
Thank you so much for your support throughout the whole week.
But here's an old friend, a very successful friend
and the darling of Colombia.
Camila Azorio looking to retain her title
and win it for the third time overall in the Colombian capital.
And finishes it with her first ace.
Camila Azorio on track again for another title in Bogota,
hoping to become only the third person ever to get a hatchet of titles here.
It's too long.
Carver's resistance is broken.
Camila Azorio sent home again.
The queen of Bogota for the third time.
A champion on the WTA tour and for a third time champion here.
Camila Azorio wins it in straight sets.
6-3, 6-3.
One hour and 23 minutes.
Almost always happy on the court and she revels in the audience
participation that she gets on home territory.
And Arena enters the arena as Sabalenka attempts to pick up
her third ever title, where she fell short just three match points a year ago.
Oh, Sabalenka.
She almost lost her footing and in the process did lose a racket.
Oh my goodness.
And I believe that's a blushing Sabalenka.
Just got stuck.
Yeah, well, she tried to change her momentum also and the racket slipped out of her hand.
And Arena Sabalenka is campeon de Madrid.
The world number one reigns supreme for a third time in the Spanish capital
as champion of the Madrid Open.
She's the best player in women's tennis at the moment, and rightfully so.
No one's won more matches on tour in 2025, 31, than Arena Sabalenka.
And no one has won more titles this year as she picks up number three.
It's always great to come back in Madrid.
I love this place.
It's yeah, I'm always excited to play in front of you all.
And guys, thank you so much for the support.
Honestly, I mean,
it's so enjoyable playing in front of you, and I'm super happy
I was able to win this year.
It's been really enjoyable playing in front of you.
Thank you. Thank you.
Ball kids, of course.
Referees. Yeah.
Thanks, everyone, for this tournament.
Jasmine Parolini had won just two matches in Rome
before the start of this tournament, but she is now one win away
from becoming the first Italian singles champion here in four decades.
The 29-year-old also defending her doubles title.
It's a sharp intake of breath from everybody inside the Foro Italico
composing herself to go again.
Hometown glory for Jasmine Parolini.
40 years, the Italian public have waited for a champion.
And what a champion.
The biggest title of her career.
The one she would have wanted more than most.
And another stellar performance
from this remarkable player
who over the last couple of seasons has defied the odds
and continued to bring joy to those who watch her.
It's Jasmine Parolini's day in Rome
as the Foro Italico celebrates a newly crowned champion
on Campo Centrale.
