The main concept of J.K. Glass House was inspired by old courtyard houses.
Old Punjabi houses used to be like this.
They used to be empty from the center and there used to be rooms around it.
If you see today, all the old houses that were built,
people used to cover them with glass roofs and pipers.
So, we got an inspiration from this.
Why can't we give a room with glass roofs?
If a client wants to enjoy the rain,
the rain is falling and at the same time,
if he wants protection from the rain,
he can cover it.
Hi, I'm Akhtek Thakur Udhayveer Singh,
Founder and Chief Managing Director at Paces Akhtek.
Hi, this is Hrithika. I'm Director at Paces Akhtek.
Today, we will take you through the journey of J.K. Glass House
and you can download the e-book and the chapters at bandofi.com.
If I talk about the location of this project,
it is a very beautiful location, Arbana.
A beautiful township is being created here.
We will call it the new part of Jalandhar.
The plot size is 66 by 101.
What we did is, we gave a central courtyard here.
As we say, every house should have a positive vibe.
So, we created the same vibe in this house as well.
As soon as we entered, we gave an onyx-lit wall with the prayer room
so that whosoever enters the house,
have a positive feeling.
And the entry that we got was also a courtyard entry.
When somebody enters this house,
where the water body is visible,
at the same time, the backdrop is a beautiful landscape area
which is again highlighted by one water feature.
These fountains keep the microclimate temperature of this house low.
Where the mechanical cooling has been done,
at the same time, the courtyard and the entry courtyard
have been downgraded in a positive way.
As soon as we enter from this landscape courtyard,
we took care of the vastu principles in the planning.
For example, we gave a master bedroom in the south-west.
We gave a kitchen in the south-east.
From the entrance courtyard, you see the formal space first.
As I told you, as soon as you enter,
our drawing room is connected for the formal guests.
Here, we used a beige colour seating.
It is a huge seating so that guests can accommodate.
If you look at the floor lamps,
they are an art in themselves.
They look beautiful and add to the ambience of the whole house.
As I told you, we used artifacts in the glass.
This is an artifact of seven horses.
This house is connected to the landscape.
As soon as we open the sheer from here, it gives a huge openness.
The second level guest that we offer dinners,
you can take them directly to your dining area.
We have a connected open gym with their master bedroom.
What I like best in this plan is that
we have taken two side windows in our guest room.
One is with the internal courtyard and one is with the rear landscape.
In the living room, we have a TV zone and a movie zone.
They sit together and watch movies.
For soundproofing, we have used an abric in the ceiling
so that it is soundproof and at the same time,
they can feel like they are in a good home theatre.
In North India, we tolerate extreme summers.
For that, a fan is very important.
But, aesthetically, chandeliers look beautiful.
So, we have used a functional fan.
But, aesthetically, it looks like a chandelier.
From the family lounge, you can see the entry of the house
and the main gate.
At the same time, you can see the entire landscape of the rear side.
When you sit in your living area,
you get a feeling of grandness.
From the front, you can see the entire plot size.
This makes the house look very big.
It looks bigger than it actually is.
Overall, if we talk about the landscape area,
we have used stone claddings on the walls.
There, we have a beautiful sculptural staircase.
This round staircase,
where a staircase is playing its functional role
to take the user from the ground floor to the first floor.
At the same time, this is looking aesthetically excellent
where it is creating a sculptural form
and behaving like an artist.
If I talk about this fabricated staircase,
where it is taking you to the first floor,
beautiful finishes have been used on it.
When you climb the staircase,
every view of it changes.
If we talk about the first floor,
we have three bedrooms.
One master bedroom again in the southwest zone.
Then the guest bedroom and the daughter's bedroom.
And a corridor, multi-purpose home in between.
The master bedroom on the first floor
is bigger than the master bedroom on the ground floor.
It is around 15 by 25 feet.
It has a huge washroom and lavish dressing area.
If I talk about the daughter's bedroom,
it also has a lavish walk-in closet.
The washroom is interestingly placed in a section.
The thread water fountain falls down here.
When the user uses the washroom upstairs,
he sees this interesting element.
Some parts of it have been frosted
to maintain privacy.
The water feature on the first floor
has a beautiful round element.
The fountain falls down from it.
We have also provided a balcony with the daughter's bedroom
which connects to the terrace and the sitting area.
It is a private balcony for the daughters
and a play zone is also available.
If I talk about the terrace,
where there was love with the green areas,
we have used a water element
which has become a beautiful element
for small gatherings.
We wanted a modern design
because our previous house was more of a classical themed house.
We wanted something new, something modern,
something that should incorporate new technology,
automation, everything that's upcoming.
We gave our requirements
and I think he was able to address it quite well.
We completed this project in just 3 months.
We made it a dream house, a practical house
and a house where 3 generations are enjoying their space.
People connect their journeys
that where beautiful houses are built,
the budgets are high.
For a good house and a good architecture,
you don't need a high budget
rather you need creativity
where you can play with the spaces.
You need creativity where you can connect the outdoors with the indoors.
You need creativity where you can play in the section
how the first floor, ground floor and terrace will be connected.
And overall, what tangible elements the user will enjoy
and what intangible elements he will enjoy.
Sometimes, the basic originality of materials
can create such beautiful interiors
if the architecture is strong.
So, I believe you need strong architecture creativity
which can be built by connecting light, air and the outdoors.
