The most beautiful thing is winning.
That's why, as a kid, when you grow up,
you're practising, you sacrifice so many things in your life.
But the beauty is, you're winning. Wow.
That's what it's all about.
When I was starting to play tennis,
my ambition was two things.
To win the Davis Cup and play at Wimbledon.
That was my goal in my life.
My ambition was like...
The toughest thing for a tennis player is mentally, psychologically.
OK, you have to be fit. That's one thing.
But mentally...
If you go on the tennis court, you're by yourself out there.
If you play a team sport or something,
you can always hide behind other players.
But tennis, you're by yourself.
You have to take the decision.
What should I do?
You have to have in your personality
that you can handle these situations.
I think that's the difference between being number one
or being 100.
Because 100 players today, it's no different.
Everybody can play good tennis.
But to be on the top, to be number one,
psychologically, it's very difficult.
The team is very important to have around you.
You feel comfortable and you can trust the team.
The only thing you have to worry about is to play tennis,
to hit that ball, and that's tough enough.
The fear of losing...
You didn't want to lose.
I mean, first of all, you love to win, you hate to lose.
But that's part of tennis, that part of your life.
Because you know that that's going to happen.
I mean, when you lose matches, you're not too happy.
When you win, you're very happy.
For me, I hate to lose.
I stepped away from the game very early,
but to lose, that was not part of my personality.
The most beautiful thing is winning.
That's why, as a kid, when you grow up,
you're practising, you sacrifice so many things in your life.
But the beauty is, you're winning. Wow.
That's what it's all about.
First of all, you have motivation, big heart,
stubborn.
You have goals that...
Maybe I did these things, but I want to be better,
to be number one.
You go through stages in life, as a player, as a personality,
but you have to love it, what you do.
When you go out on the tennis court,
you have to love every single moment,
to achieve, to become the best player in the world.
To be the best player in the world is difficult.
I mean, everybody knows that.
To be part of the number one club, I'm very proud.
I dreaded it, I think. It's only 29 players.
Those 29 players, we were proud.
And for me to be the best player in the world,
I mean, it means a lot.
