Merci, Richard 🇫🇷 A Look Back At Richard Gasquet's Career On The ATP Tour!

The French player, Richard Casquier. He was nominated for the gold medal in the 50's because of the 2002 champion, Nathanaël Van Gogh-Souley. I'll tell you what, there's only one person not smiling after that, he's looking at him like, no way, you can't do that. Produces a moment of brilliance there. This is stunning, he made it happen here, did Richard Gasquet, did he leave that as Varev? I think he could have got it. See, once again, I'm going to say, what fantastic hands from Gasquet. And you're going to point out that that has to be a winner if Shadi's going to run around. It does, but funnily enough, that's the advantage of having almost like a continental grip on the fine, isn't it? Oh, magnificent. Never gets out of seeing that shot. Well, that was the best return of the set we've seen from Beneteau, but that was not to be stopped from Gasquet. Marvellous angle. You've got to love the hand gestures and gesticulations coming from the Italian crowd. French hopes for the future are pinned on Richard Gasquet, who's brimming with confidence after back-to-back challenger titles in Barletta and Napoli. He'll need something extra special to have a chance against this man. For so long, people have associated this guy with a bit of genius. We see it so rarely, and here it's for all to see. Look at that! Oh, it's brilliant. Absolutely superb. Oh, the shot selection and the execution. It's incredible here from Gasquet. Gasquet leads by five games to three. I mean, shots like that are worth the admission fee on their own. So, it misses more like it. This is the Gasquet we're accustomed to seeing. Special rally right here. Which should have been over right here, but incredible dig. Neither of them could put it away, could they? Gasquet was actually laughing, wasn't he, as he played the final shot. 2-5-0. 7-5-6-4. Richard Gasquet. The winner of this Open C de France, the title holder, Richard Gasquet. Anyway, we're going to take pictures later. I suggest you listen to them both. What a match point it was. Like the match that had gone before it, Ferrer tried everything, but Gasquet's last shot was too good. The Frenchman had chalked up his first ever victory over the Spaniard. A 2006 runner-up, but through to the quarter-finals. Final score, 6-3, 6-0. Oh, it's absolutely exquisite from Richard Gasquet. That is as good as it gets. Just opening up the court with that one. Richard Gasquet steps into the 600 club. A 600 tour level win for the Frenchman. Solidifies his legendary status in this sport. And what a way to do it. Takes down the world number five, Stef Sitzepas. The top seed here in Stuttgart is gone. He's a champion of years since he won his last ATP title. Your 2023 ASB singles champion. The one, the only, Richard Gasquet. Yeah, a lovely moment for Richard Gasquet. Winning his 16th title. And you felt for Cam Norrie, he was emotional.
