It was a sunny morning and Lily and Max were feeling extra excited.
Today wasn't just any day, it was Zoo Day.
With backpacks packed and snacks ready, they set off with mom and dad for a big
day of adventure. As they arrived at the zoo gates,
something special happened. The zookeeper handed them each a
colorful card. It was a zoo surprise challenge.
The card read, find and learn about five animals you've never seen before.
Take a picture, draw, or remember something fun
about each one. Lily and Max looked at each other and smiled. This was
going to be fun.
Zoo Day adventure, come along and see.
All the wild animals, as happy as can be. Giraffes are tall and monkeys swing.
Come on friends, let's see everything.
Elephants stomp and zebras race, with colorful birds flying all over the place.
We'll visit the pandas and watch them munch,
eating bamboo for lunch. Zoo Day adventure, come along and see.

The otters are swimming, dolphins leap high. The flamingos are stretching to the
bright blue sky. We're learning about them, each and every
friend. What a fun Zoo Day that never
ends. Zoo Day adventure, come along and see.

Bright pink birds stood tall and still, just like statues.
Flamingos sleep standing on one leg, Lily wrote,
and she took a picture. Next came the meerkat mound.
Max watched as little furry heads popped in and out of tunnels like whack-a-moles.
He wrote, meerkats live in big families and take turns watching for danger.
The third animal was a surprise, the okapi,
with stripes like a zebra and a body like a horse.
The kids had never seen one before. The okapi is a
cousin of the giraffe. On they went, finding the quiet red panda,
sleeping in a tree like a fluffy ball. And then the playful otters, sliding and
splashing like water dancers. Laughter filled the
air as the whole family watched them tumble.
With five animals checked off their list, the kids sat under a shady tree
to enjoy sandwiches and juice. Their challenge card was now filled with
pictures, drawings, and notes. But more importantly,
their hearts were full of wonder. Before heading home, the zookeeper found
them again and gave them each a shiny sticker.

Lily and Max walked back to the car, their imaginations buzzing with stories
of flamingos, otters, and okapis. It had been more than
just a zoo trip. It had been a day of surprises,
learning, and magical memories.
