There is a certain kind of magic when it comes to creating those romantic hygge vibes in a small apartment. And hygge is so much more than an aesthetic!
Sure, hygge decor is wonderful, but what about the hygge home experience? Creating a cozy home is not just about decorating - the magic is also in what we DO in our spaces.
So in this video, I’m sharing some of my favorite hygge activities that I personally love to do in my cozy apartment. I want you to walk away from this video feeling inspired to do things in your space that romanticize your apartment lifestyle and simply make you feel good!
If you’re looking for feel-good, cozy fall vibes and hygge lifestyle inspiration, watch on!
Another glorious fall-winter season is upon us, which means I have to do a cozy hygge video,
right? Like, I have to. Compulsively. Now, if you're a regular Moda Misfit viewer,
you know that I talk about cozy hygge decor in a lot of my videos. So in this video,
I want to dive deeper into creating a hygge experience in your apartment,
not just a hygge aesthetic. And here's the kitty. Because hygge is so much more than an aesthetic.
It's also about mindset and the experiences you give yourself in your apartment. So here are some
hygge apartment activities that I personally love to do in the fall and winter seasons
that give me those feelings of well-being, warmth, and coziness that hygge embodies.
And if you're new around here, my name is Steffi, and on this channel,
I give small apartment styling tips and cozy living inspiration.
So before we dive into these cozy hygge activities, I want to let you know that for
the sake of brevity, I am going to be limiting myself to one recommendation per activity.
Because initially, as I was outlining this video, I got super carried away
and listed out like a thousand things. If you want me to make more videos expanding further
on each subject I'm about to talk about in this video, then let me know in the comments below,
because I would love to do that. I'm very interested in sort of expanding the channel
into not just how we decorate our apartments, but what we do inside them. The lifestyle stuff,
you know? So let me know in the comments if that sounds like something you'd be into.
Okay, let's dive in.
So the first hygge activity I'm going to talk about is to read. I don't know about you, but
when the air starts feeling crisp outside and the skies start getting darker and grayer,
I think there's nothing more romantic and hygge-y as just cuddling up with a good book.
And the book I'm recommending for the fall, winter hygge cozy vibes is called The Tenth Girl.
This book is so good, and it is beautifully written. The way it's written immediately feels
cozy. It's a dark, moody, gothic thriller that's perfect for the spooky season. It's basically
about a girl who starts a new job at an all-girls boarding school. And this boarding school is in
this super old house, and strange things start happening in this old house. If you're a lover
of haunted house stories, you'll love this book. But it's so much more than a haunted house story,
and I can't say much more because I don't want to spoil it, but there is a huge twist that happens
late in the book that basically changes everything you thought to be true
up until that point in the book. I'm trying really hard not to give too much away, but
I highly recommend this book. It's perfect for fall, winter. Like I said, it's very moody,
it's very haunting, and it's just very vibe-y. So if you want to check out The Tenth Girl,
I will link to it in the description below. The next hygge activity you can do this fall
and winter is cozy gaming. I myself have recently ventured into the magical world of cozy gaming,
and now I am a diehard cozy gamer. So the cozy game that I want to tell you about is perfect
for fall and winter because it is so dark and moody and gothic. It just,
it really, it hits. And that is Strange Horticulture. Strange Horticulture is
such a vibe. The second I started playing it, I was in love, I was intrigued, I was
enchanted. What I really loved about it is it made me feel really nostalgic for the old
point-and-click games that I would play when I was little on the computer. It really took me back to
that experience, and it's been a long time since I've played a point-and-click game, and I forgot
about how fun they actually are. So in Strange Horticulture, you run a plant shop, and you
basically get customers that come to you with their problems, and then you prescribe certain
plants to them to help them with their problems. And while you're doing this, a very dark, gothic,
witchy story unfolds, and it's kind of a choose-your-own-adventure where your decisions
impact the result of the story. And the reason why I picked this game above all other cozy games
is because it is just so dark and moody and just perfect for fall, winter, hygge vibes.
Now the next hygge apartment activity is to curl up and watch a good movie or tv show. Now there
are certain movies and tv shows that are particularly suited for a cozy hygge day in the apartment,
and the movie that I'm going to recommend for this is Little Women, the one from the 90s with
Winona Ryder. I haven't seen the new one, but the 90s one is one of my favorite movies of all time.
And the reason why Little Women is the perfect movie for a cozy fall, winter, hygge day is
because it just has a feeling of hominess, coziness. The aesthetic is very wintry and
Christmassy for a lot of the movie, and it's about the bond between these sisters, and it's just,
it's just a feel-good movie. Now there are so many tv shows in particular that I could go on
about, but again I'm trying to make this video like not a feature-length film, so once again
let me know in the comments below if you want me to make a video where I talk about what I think
are the coziest tv shows to curl up with on a gloomy fall day. But for now I am just leaving
you with my recommendation to watch Little Women. It'll make you feel good, it'll make you feel cozy,
and it will make you cry. The next hygge activity is to eat. Hygge is really about appealing to
all of your senses, so not just the sense of sight, but also the sense of taste. So let's
talk about the taste sense. And there is a very specific dish that I want to recommend to you
that is perfect for fall winter and is like a a coziness explosion in your mouth basically.
And that is this delicious pumpkin pasta recipe that my boyfriend Kobe introduced into my life.
I've shared about this pasta in a previous video from a while ago, so some of you might remember
it, but I feel like it's worth sharing again in a video that is specifically about cozy hygge for
fall and winter. Like I feel like I would be remiss if I didn't talk about this pasta.
is to drink. A big part of hygge is to eat, drink, and be merry. And that can be with a cozy cup of
tea or coffee, or it can be with the adult beverage of your choice. And right now I'm
going to talk about the adult beverage of my choice. If you're not a drinker, feel free to
skip this one. But basically I want to share this delicious brandy Manhattan recipe that once again
my boyfriend Kobe introduced into my life. This brandy Manhattan is like Christmas in a cup.
It tastes like holiday cheer liquefied. It's the perfect drink to cozy up with under layers of
faux fur blankets on your couch with a candle lit, little women playing on the screen.
This drink is basically a cup of hygge. So here's how you make it.
All right. So those were the cozy hygge activities that you can do in your apartment
on a gloomy fall winter day. These are the things that I personally love to do. So I hope that you
walk away from this video with some ideas on ways to just make your apartment experience feel
that more special, that more cozy, and that more enchanting. Once again, let me know in
the comments below if you want me to do more videos about the experiences within an apartment
in addition to the decorating of an apartment. I'll be honest, ever since we moved out of the
studio apartment a few months ago, I have been struggling with creating content for this channel
because the studio was pretty much my muse and now we're in this new apartment that I have
not really been decorating as quickly as I would like to. And that's one of the reasons why I've
been so damn inconsistent with my channel this year. Trust me, I don't like taking the the long
breaks that I've been taking, but I've honestly been just kind of lost when it comes to
the apartment decorating thing, which makes me feel like kind of a fraud.
Anyway, I would love to talk more about TV shows to watch, games to play, music to listen to,
you know, the things we do in our apartments, not just the way we decorate them. So if you're down
for a bit of an expansion of the Moda Misfit content universe, let me know in the comments
below. And remember, your apartment is destined to be pretty and you are pretty powerful.
