What's up throttle? Are you thinking that a Jaguar is just an old man's car? Well, we're here to tell you today that you're wrong.
I'm Nadine, co-founder of Throttle, and today I'm in Sierra Vista with my buddy Kyle. What's up throttle? I'm Kyle.
This is my 2017 Jaguar F-Type R, and today
I'm going to show you around the car, get to know it a little bit better, and show you what she's all about.
So Kyle, just looking at the front of this car, I've got to say I absolutely love the grille. It's gorgeous.
They did an amazing job on it.
I mean, you can't help but notice that it does look like the face of a Jaguar.
You know, there's the Jaguar here, and it has that same kind of look and feel to it.
It has what you're down to, like the aggressive, like feline eyes kind of staring at you, like telling you that it's going to pass you.
Very nice.
Here, it says Jaguar.
Oh yeah, no, those are the full-on Jaguar neon headlights, and they're movable as well.
So as you track left and right, the wheels follow you, and they
aim at exactly where you're turning, so it helps you see around corners much better.
Okay, I love the racing green, the original racing green from Jaguar.
Yeah, some people can't really tell. If you look, it's a metallic racing green.
Yeah, but some people think it looks black, like when it's a little bit closer at night.
But yeah, it is the original British racing green.
Metallic.
And what can you tell us about this?
Well, the car is a
565 horsepower
V8 with twin superchargers.
And what you're looking at right here are the intakes, the air intakes.
That's what a lot of trains go out there.
Awesome. So how loud is it?
I mean, thinking, I mean, if this is a V8,
and it's got to be a really growly type of throaty sound.
No, honestly, I think one of the best things about this car is its sound, the sound it makes.
So how do you take me for a spin?
Being a refined, fine British automobile, there are actually two modes.
There is regular mode, which is kind of more restrained.
And then they have a higher performance exhaust note button that you can press.
I call it the asshole button.
It increases the decibels that come out of the tailpipe by, well, by a lot.
So how did you know that this was the car you wanted?
Or were you going out specifically for this model?
Or you just wanted something British?
No, I just, I saw it.
Once again, I saw it on the road.
I saw one on the road, I'm like, oh my God, that's a beautiful car.
What the heck is it?
I thought it was a Maserati or maybe a Nascar.
And as I got closer, I was like, oh my God, that's a Jaguar.
Jaguars for me have always been for kind of more the dapper Dan, older cars.
Especially the old day cars, right?
Yeah, this thing, you know, you just look at it,
it's just easy to speed and prowess.
And it's, you know, just looks like a really fast, beautiful sports car.
And so you walked into the showroom, you're like, I'm going to go test this thing out.
Exactly. I wanted to go test it out.
I saw the exact car I wanted.
It was green.
It had the tan interior.
Everything that I wanted.
Right?
Okay, yeah.
And it was a six-cylinder.
It was the S-type, the F-type S.
So that's a six-cylinder.
And it came with a manual transmission.
It was amazing.
I took it for a test drive, and I loved it.
So how'd the test drive go?
So it went great.
The guy who was in there, and he's like, you know, how are you doing?
And I'm like, great.
I said, listen, I'll take good care of this car.
I know it's expensive and everything like that.
I appreciate you giving me a test drive.
And he told me, he's like, you know what, don't worry about it.
Drive it like you stole it.
Okay, the salesman's not supposed to tell you that.
No.
Actually, the funny thing was when we were winding it up, or winding it down,
I'm sorry, the test drive, we pulled it at a red light in front of the dealer.
And this really attractive woman in a BMW pulls up next to me,
and she rolls her window down.
She's like, nice car.
And you're like, okay, right there.
And I was like, thanks.
She's like, how long you had it?
And I say, well, it's not mine yet, but I think it is going to be soon.
And then she pulled away, or I pulled away.
And I looked to the guy working there, the salesman.
I was like, is that a friend of yours?
I was like, that never happens to me.
So what's the performance like on the track compared to everybody else?
Have you been able to take over some cars?
Oh, this thing.
Yeah, this thing.
This thing's unbeatable.
When I first started racing, I was racing a bunch of cars.
I had a Challenger that I took out there, a Mustang once.
I had an AMG, a C63.
Oh, that's a beast.
But the funny thing there was I was always racing,
and I was always having to get pulled by some people in the past.
So I would always be getting passed.
And I think it was like the fourth time I went on a track,
I had this car with me.
And instead of me pointing by, I was passing those that were pointing me by.
I was lapping people.
I was just like, wow, this is so much easier to pass people in this car.
So Kyle, I loved driving with you today.
