Manuel Jaimes.
And Rolando, Roley Romero.
I say stop, stop what you're doing and give me a good clean break.
Touch him up, scoot back.
Round one.
Jaime's with 11 out of 16 wins.
So they're both big and Jaime's looks bigger than Romero on the ring.
He is a dollar. He's got a longer reach.
He's the bigger guy, even though he's moving up to 140.
So he'll try to take advantage of that as well.
A minute left here in a getting to know you opening frame.
And, and Abner, you've talked about it before.
They almost, they may have hit heads there, but coming off, great job.
Inside from Ismael Salas for Roley Romero and Joe having heard Abner's translation.
Do you agree with Salas?
Oh, most definitely.
What did he say, Abner?
Rounded number two, but yeah, just to the set up jab, the right hand.
I mean, asking exactly the overhand right hand from Romero that clocked Castro,
but does not keep him.
And that's what he's known for Romero, right?
The overhand right?
The punches that come from nowhere.
You gotta, you gotta take risks.
It's like I told Mauro yesterday.
Oh, they just butted heads.
I said, Role, Roley Romero is the most beautiful street fighter I've ever seen.
Well put is, uh, again, has the power as Joe mentioned, but the, the, it's almost
to his benefit at times is unorthodox techniques, the best jab to the body.
That's he tries to establish that old job from this Castro.
They both jab at the same time.
And Castro now on the march forward has, and Romero used to doing this, going back
and forth, lateral motion, trying to maybe bait you, trying to get you to come in
where he can launch that powerful right hand.
But I don't think that Romero fights good on this back foot going backwards.
He doesn't, he's mostly going forward.
So take advantage of that moment.
I miss you got to push them.
And now he's, he's trying to hold off manual high mass too.
Right now they're dead.
Even in terms of punches thrown and landed in this, in this second round,
the remora, but I catching punches from high miss in my belief, especially the
Oberheim, right?
You want to do that?
And you want the feints for high miss have Romero open up his garden and land
something.
Yeah.
High messes.
One four straight since his lone loss as a pro and eight round decision against
Pedro Bernal.
He appointed former 122 pound division belt holder, Jonathan Romero over eight
rounds.
And this is his first scheduled 140 pound fight after he missed weight actually
against Romero came in at one 39 and a half.
So whether you want it to or not, maybe needs to move up to one 40 as we close
out round at number two.
And you can maybe even look for Castro, even though they're hitting your high
miss, excuse me, even though they're hitting Romero closing in on Castro.
I was going to say Castro likes to switch dances.
I miss has never been knocked down in his program.
We're just locked into a right uppercut in the right hand from Romero.
So high mess has to be careful when you feel warm and there's blood, but for
right now, obviously he's just, he just felt the punch morning, five seconds left
in the third, right hand from Castro on the orthodox left hook, right hand by
Romero, he and Romero pokes his chin up a lot when he's punching, which is very
defensive floss.
He pulls straight back.
There's a chopping right hand by Romero in close.
Now they're mugging each other along the ropes and referee Hoyle calls for the
break, 20 seconds left, lead left hook, right hand by Romero.
Let's see there.
There's that right uppercut, crazy left hook chin up by Romero, not known for
especially Romero, the high output, but that power of the punch.
There it is, Romero leaving himself exposed.
He was throwing those two left uppercuts with his right hand down and chin up.
Well, he's going to have to take those risks Romero, I mean, cause he's got no
defense, no defense.
He throws his punches high guard.
He's going to get caught, but you're going to land something also.
You know, Jaime is known for his high work rate that has been likened to a bumblebee.
Well, that was the hold off.
Anything that Jaime's was going to come back to the body by Romero.
Yeah.
Roley's getting away with what he wants to do right now, backing up, trying to
bait Jaime's to come forward immediately, just over a minute left in the fourth.
Referee Hoyle may need something for a sore throat after this one.
He's been doing a lot of talking here.
Nice right uppercut, left hook by Romero, and Jaime's just is not busy.
No, he's not.
And you know, he's got to put real pressure on him because this is not
going to work for him standing.
But you know what it is, Joe, is that when he tries, he gets hit and
then he's being too cautious.
Uh, Jaime's, he's got to let it all out, man.
He's got, he's got to throw his ender in and make this your fight.
On a Saturday night, fight night in Sin City.
Ooh, nice and much left hook, but again, does not hurt Jaime's.
And we now have pieces here tonight.
This is round five scheduled for 10.
You talked about the one gear about Cruz, which is going forward.
That's what I meant needs to do.
Jaime's has to push him back.
Jaime has to get, uh, Roley Romero on the ropes.
But if you look at Jaime's style, he's got his hands down here.
And Cruz never drops his hands.
And the other thing was, is Roley Romero was not ready for a pressure
fighter like that, pushing off on him.
You don't do that on the inside, chin up.
Isaac Cruz caught him all night long.
Romero delivers the right uppercut.
Almost as a decoy, lands a bigger left upstairs.
And you got to give it to Roley.
He's using his jab really good.
Good distance right there for Romero.
Jaime's still on his feet.
Has never been knocked down, but he's tasting the pop of Romero here in the fifth.
Nice lead left hook around the guard by Romero.
You say you can't change it.
I say, I would definitely give it a shot to change that and do drills.
You know, there are drills to protect yourself from Romero.
But right now that style is working for Romero.
And again, the offense just unable to get on track for the guy known as the
Bumblebee gets caught again with the right.
And then he throws a right.
Jaime's on the attack now.
He's only thrown 20 punches.
We're just over a minute left here in the fifth.
Both of them under 30 punches thrown in the round.
We know that he's a timing fighter.
That low output.
He just wants to make the punches count.
And he's doing it in this round.
He's timing those punches really good.
Waiting for Jaime to get in.
And when he gets in, there it is.
He catches him with the shots.
So this is a smart, smart strategy by Romero.
Romero stays off the ropes and keeps walking and moving.
Round 140 pound of battle through the first half of the fight.
So it's a big opportunity.
Has been in Jaime's well-cornered literally since he was 13, training
him, watching him evolve.
He had an estimated 65 amateur fights.
And now Romero opening up on Jaime's force to return fire.
Stop.
Gotcha.
One, two to the body by Romero.
Just hanging back, waiting for Jaime's to do something and, uh, make it a nice day.
Jaime's now marching forward and the veteran Romero.
Yeah, Mauro, you're right.
Someone's got to take control of this fight.
And it's not happening.
It's not.
Ooh, beautiful uppercut right there from Romero, but it's
going to happen from either side.
It's the fate.
And the left toe counter upstairs is there for Romero, the way Jaime's
had the high guard, but as soon as he moves forward, the hands go down.
Exactly.
Well, he did last round.
He landed two of them early in the round.
Nice counter right by Romero.
I got you.
Jaime's just looking to smother his offense, which you cannot do.
It's got to be in that danger zone, that mid range.
He's got the wingspan edge.
He's got the reach advantage.
Needs to try to make it count.
He's got to set up something.
He's got to start, obviously, with the fundamentals.
So the left hand by Romero, then the right hand.
Once you're in the inside, work the body.
Doubles before ultimately being stopped.
So we're seeing a lot of it here being exchanged by both fighters,
but you have to be careful here because the referee did give him a hard warning.
He was deducted the point against Cruz, and Romero has to be careful,
as does Jaime, when they clash.
And Romero looking to create some moments with that distance.
That distance and that uppercut that the corner was asking for.
And it's there.
Yeah, he's thrown a three time since it came out.
I get it, Joe.
You'd love to see more from Romero.
I would, exactly.
Yeah, I know that this is a style he throws, but this is a guy that talks too much.
He wants to be a prototype player, and he wants to be a major star.
He's got to show it.
He's taking on a guy who's moving up in weight.
First fight in Vegas.
First scheduled ten round fight.
And here we go.
Minute 45 left in the eighth.
Still so much at stake here in this fight.
Very close in terms of the stats.
There it is, the inside body shots, the punching from Romero.
Where's the uppercut?
Just score the uppercut and hook right there.
One-armed right hand from Romero misses.
But Jaime is absolutely unable to do anything.
Absolutely nothing on him.
Nope.
Nothing.
It's like, okay, you got this fight.
What are you doing with it?
Styles make fights.
This one's uglier than a bowling shoe, kids.
Any of the worthwhile shots that are landing are being thrown by Romero, period.
It may not be pretty, and it isn't.
It's awkward.
It's not pretty, but Romero is winning this fight.
Yes, yes.
Says you.
Wait until the three judges.
Yeah, I mean, I understand what you're saying.
You can never, ever make a declarative statement in combat sports until we get,
you know, accountability from the judges that really help our sport out.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say I want to win this one.
I'll hold my breath for that one.
An ultimate round, and Jaime's off to an aggressive start, but immediately
again, a close quarters, and Romero fights out and lands it right on the exit.
Right uppercut to Guy and Manuel Jaime, who is fighting in Vegas for the first
time, fighting in his first scheduled 10-round fight.
He's lunging in, Jaime's opening subjective to these uppercuts.
The waist leaning in out of fatigue, and when you get tired, you
start making more and more mistakes.
And the corner was pushing for a knockout.
They told him, you're way behind.
You need a knockout on this.
But I don't think the kid believed in it when he was listening to him.
No, I think I'll say he told me he was just one tired fighter.
And again, first time at 140, first time in the 10th round.
And according to official score, Joe Gusen, Jaime needs the
knockout to win this fight.
We've seen stranger things happen.
I remember John Molina losing every round, every second of every round against
Mickey Bay here in Las Vegas, and in the 10th round, knockout future holds.
But a minute and a half left to end this fight.
Kind of an uninspiring performance by either guy, but look, I think Roley's
going to learn some new things.
I really do.
He's just, he just does the same thing over and over again.
And then when you step up to the higher competition, it won't work.
It'll work at this level.
We've seen him.
No, and it's on the inside.
It's not exactly like Romero.
And we've seen Romero also struggle on the inside.
Both of them are struggling because it's become a grappling match.
And to believe this is a fighter that gave Tang Davis some good
reps, because he did.
Roley and his sister were judokas.
Maybe in another life, Roley Romero would have been a mixed martial artist.
He goes 10 rounds in his comeback fight against Manuel Jaimeson.
All three in favor of the winner, Rolando Roley Romero.
