Recently, Starbase was officially incorporated as a city in Texas. On Tuesday morning, the Cameron County Commissioners Court certified the results of the May 3rd election, officially establishing the new city near Elon Musk’s rocket launch site outside Brownsville.
"We congratulate Starbase, the new mayor, and the two new city councilmen, and wish them the absolute best. We look forward to working with them for the betterment not only of Starbase but of Cameron County, Texas," said County Judge Eddie Treviño.
Although Elon Musk is often swamped with his schedule, he still took time to express his pride in the milestone, saying: “Not often that new cities are made these days.”
Well, if you’re working for SpaceX or even just a supporter, this is definitely something to be proud of it’s the kind of change that makes life feel freer and more exciting than ever. With Starbase officially recognized as a city, it means the area surrounding SpaceX’s rocket testing and launch site now falls under its own local jurisdiction, with the company likely having greater influence over its governance.
